Whoever wrote her script kind of mangled it imo. She’s worked in the games industry a very long time. But her introduction made her seem like she knew nothing of the medium.
I hope she does well. Be a female president in such a male dominated space (both in terms of player and staffer) is going to be tough. And while she shouldn’t have to prove herself to anyone that she knows games specifically because she’s a woman - she will inevitably be forced to. So I hope her PR team knows what they’re doing. Because at Nintendo you can never be quite so sure.
I already own the game on Xbox Series X. But at $25 CAD I picked it up. Didn’t know it was some big sale (or error) was just browsing the E-shop and was like, “oh wow. That’s awesome”.
Between the 3 SKUs Nintendo has sold around 35 Million Switch Units.
That's 1 Switch for every 3.5 people in Japan.
For context JUST in Japan the Switch has sold (in millions)
1 - ~85% of the population of Canada. (34/40) 2 - ~ 225% of the entire world's Jewish population. (34/15) 3 - ~ 5% of every left handed person in THE WORLD. (34/800) 4 - ~ 1 Switch for every 7,500 wild tigers in the wild. (34m/4.5k)
Style is subjective but I don't love this animation. I wish him success with this, but I do hope he goes through a couple revisions of the style. At the very least for link who seems a little out of place.
I really like the simplistic geometry and shading on the character models. It invokes a WW type cell-shading while still keeping to its own style. I really hope this one turns out well.
Honestly I do like how they do these collections. Buy the games you want, but keep them all in one app. Splitting it into a 2nd game doesn't make much sense to me, though.
Not sure how they got the rights to publish Bit Trip Runner. That game is worth a buy for sure. But everything else I've ever bought from Qubic games has been a 6/10 at best. Luckily I've never paid more than $3 CAD for a game of theirs.
I am thrilled it is coming to Xbox over Switch. The N64 emulation is not great on switch, and MS has been taking legacy content VERY seriously lately. Will happily play on my Series X.
I think it's sad that people still think so poorly of Zelda 2. It's hard as hell, and has essentially no puzzles. But the combat is super fun, and it frankly is more fun to play for an hour than triforce heroes or the original Gameboy Advance 4-swords.
Plus it was a game from the 80s. It deserves some slack.
Did the controls change on switch much? I'm currently playing KOTOR through backward compatibility on my Series X. The game is glitchy for sure, and the emulation isn't perfect, but I think the controls are great. It's one of the only non mario-rpgs I've been able to get through. I really like the combat system.
@AtlanteanMan Yeah I agree as much as I can without having played it myself.
I think it looks pretty okay as a PS2 game. But again look at cool art-styles in the same generation like Wind Waker. This to me looks like Okami with it's very flat textures and expressions. Maybe cool for the time, but it didn't age well (especially the HD port of Okami) and certainly doesn't look great as a brand new game, indie or not.
I think an homage to Miyazaki makes sense in video game form. But it should be an homage to the essence of what makes films like Totoro great and ageless. Totoro being a weird smiling bus didn't make it a great movie. Being both surrealist yet wholly down-to-earth and relatable is what made it a great movie. The writing, tropes, and art-style enhance Miyazaki's visions, they don't MAKE them.
I was afraid of this. A game far too reliant on its art-style that the rest falters.
Also maybe this is a hot-take... but I think the graphics looked awful. It doesn't actually look Ghibli to me outside of just having the archetype features. The art-style doesn't feel fully developed to me.
@BloodNinja I don't think every game needs to have the same opinions, and I'm not sure I'd have personally thought to include it as a con. But an open dating Sim type game if you took just one datable NPC and gender swapped them then at least you're giving people a different kind of route to play through.
This movie was delayed by like 3 years. So the New Horizons parody is clearly a new poster. I wonder if all of the parody posters were created more recently by the ad-teams of if any of them are remnants from when they hoped the movie would initially release.
@Willsy I couldn't disagree more. I've worked in consumer electronics for over a decade. General consumer doesn't care about CPU names our voltage, but the very much care about YoY changes to devices.
Switch came out 4 years ago. 4k was still relatively niche.
But today most new TVs are 4k standard. Consumer doesn't care about the custom Tegra chip, but they Def care about if this new one will give them the new features everyone else touts.
Like I'm a shill who will probably buy it - but for the general consumer, this isn't enough for an upgrade - especially if they price it higher than the current models.
Like RCS is great as sonic. But more importantly, than his performance is the fact that Sega needs some goddamn consistency. So I'm glad they got him back. Let the voices be consistent while your games never are...
I loved messing around with Colours on 3DS. But mostly just because of the 3D effect. This might be cool for illustrators but without a gimmick, it's not something I can justify.
Nintendo: Don't like the inconvenience of motion controls? Well, do we have the solution for you!
Also Nintendo: Hate pressing a single button for a command, and would prefer digging through your cushions to find an essential part of the gaming experience? Well, do we have a solution for you!
Honestly, their writing was totally fine and helped Sonic have a more consistent tone over the last decade.
Buuuuuuut
With Roger Craig Smith gone, and them gone, I'm hoping that this means Sega is finally taking Sonic seriously and switching things up.
The issue was the Boost formula was fun enough but really basic unless you want to spend hours working on your twitch reaction controls.
Lost world was a really cool idea and prob my favourite sonic game to play since Generations. But for every 10/10 level it had some levels that should never have passed an alpha testing stage.
So if they can actually switch things up, bring on devs who worked on proof of concept fan games (Sonic Utopia comes to mind) they might be able to make Sonic games tollerable again.

Re: Random: Zelda: TOTK Meets Super Mario 64 In Latest Ridiculous Ultrahand Creation
This both why I love AND hate TOTK.
