Re: Super Mario 3D World's Platforming Will Be "Snappier" On Switch, Gyro Support Included

@Paulo Interesting. See I never finished 3D World 100% because I found late game too hard. Honestly, the last level in 3D Land is tough but if you go in with Racoon or Tanooki Mario to get past the first bit with the hammer bros it isn't too bad. But it was a proud moment for me haha.

And I don't mind the collectathon Mario games. But I thought Oddysey was really fun on the first play through and horribly boring any time I've tried to play it since.

Mario 64 is still the best of that style IMO, even with all its dated flaws.

I think 3D world and 3D Land were such underrated classics. Sure the Aesthetic was only slightly more interesting than NSMB (although with way more variety), but the level design on each entry was just so clever. 3D Land was so simple and perfect for 10-minute play sessions. In fact it was the only game I have ever 100% completed.

3D World on the other hand had so many ideas that it became a bit unfocused, sure, but it was also never stopping with new things to do and try.

Had they really focused on a unique aesthetic theme for those games I think they'd be regarded much higher these years later.

It is always going to be more work to make things more accessible. But we need to make accessibility a standard in gaming. We shouldn't have to have awards for most accessible games, because deep accessibility should be worked on from the start. I'm lucky to have full vision and (mostly) full use of my hands. But not everyone does, and having extra ways to just allow people to feel included, to me, is more worth it than slightly extra polish or DLC.

If we can't all enjoy something due to lack of accessibility then we have failed each others as humans.

Re: Zelda-Esque Oceanhorn 2 Brings Its "Epic" Open-World Adventure To Switch This Month

The first Oceanhorn had a lot of potential, just let down in a few key categories like very basic puzzles and a lack of any real interesting identity.

But I do think the devs were passionate about it, and was really peeved that 2 was set to be an Apple Arcade exclusive.

But I'll pick it up day one just to support indie devs that want to do something a little more traditional like a Zelda.

Re: Netflix's Gaming Documentary High Score Is A Nostalgia Trip Worth A Watch

Honestly I was pretty unimpressed with the first 2 episodes. The narrative jumps all over the place. Also there's not enough cool information for hardcore gaming fans, and there's not enough background for people new to gaming.

I'll watch the 3rd episode to give it another chance, but I'm not too hopeful.

Although I didn't realize that the Channel F was created by a Black man. There wasn't a lot of representation of Black people in early gaming. But that was the only peace of information I didn't know (that wasn't Nintendo World Championship related).

@AlternateButtons

Jon was literally spewing unfounded xenophobia. If he spoke on a platform founded on actual research rather than more hateful assumptions then I'd agree that what Playtonic said was uncalled for, but I think they were 100% in their rights.

I think, currently, having websites like NintendoLife reviewing the eshop games evens the playing field. In the 80's/90's Nintendo's lockout chip was necessary because if they started having a slew of bad/unplayable games it would ruin the reputation of the console. Now people are more Saavy and can turn to internet based media to see if the game's worth checking out.

If anything I think Nintendo should also make demo versions mandatory for all indie developers. Let people actually play the game before they purchase. OR, go the Android route and allow consumers to request a refund within an hour of purchase!

Re: Sonic Lost World Sales Reached 640,000 in 2013

I really like Sonic Lost World on the 3DS. It's majorly flawed, but it's definitly one of the best portable Sonic games I've ever played.

Aside from the cinematics which look like crapola.

@the_beaver

Clearly you haven't played the game. Try playing it yourself before you blindly trust reviews...
