@pixelpatch Yeah. I remember so many people complaining about the multiplayer and how half baked it seemed when the game came out. But that was always my favourite way to play it.
@Paulo Interesting. See I never finished 3D World 100% because I found late game too hard. Honestly, the last level in 3D Land is tough but if you go in with Racoon or Tanooki Mario to get past the first bit with the hammer bros it isn't too bad. But it was a proud moment for me haha.
And I don't mind the collectathon Mario games. But I thought Oddysey was really fun on the first play through and horribly boring any time I've tried to play it since.
Mario 64 is still the best of that style IMO, even with all its dated flaws.
I think 3D world and 3D Land were such underrated classics. Sure the Aesthetic was only slightly more interesting than NSMB (although with way more variety), but the level design on each entry was just so clever. 3D Land was so simple and perfect for 10-minute play sessions. In fact it was the only game I have ever 100% completed.
3D World on the other hand had so many ideas that it became a bit unfocused, sure, but it was also never stopping with new things to do and try.
Had they really focused on a unique aesthetic theme for those games I think they'd be regarded much higher these years later.
It is always going to be more work to make things more accessible. But we need to make accessibility a standard in gaming. We shouldn't have to have awards for most accessible games, because deep accessibility should be worked on from the start. I'm lucky to have full vision and (mostly) full use of my hands. But not everyone does, and having extra ways to just allow people to feel included, to me, is more worth it than slightly extra polish or DLC.
If we can't all enjoy something due to lack of accessibility then we have failed each others as humans.
Se here's the thing. The aesthetic looks a little too samey.
And the trailer is pretty cringey in its storytelling, "How did I get here" is such a tired trope. Although the voice actor seemed to have done her best with the lines given.
But the game actually looks like a pretty okay zelda clone.
Honestly I was pretty unimpressed with the first 2 episodes. The narrative jumps all over the place. Also there's not enough cool information for hardcore gaming fans, and there's not enough background for people new to gaming.
I'll watch the 3rd episode to give it another chance, but I'm not too hopeful.
Although I didn't realize that the Channel F was created by a Black man. There wasn't a lot of representation of Black people in early gaming. But that was the only peace of information I didn't know (that wasn't Nintendo World Championship related).
Am I the only one that finds the writing to be fairly sloppy? I really like the game so far (about 2 chapters in), the character models are cool (minus the stoner pink eyes) and I quite like the combat system. I think this was a great first attempt at a series that I think could go very far.
I'm really disappointed in NL right now. Nowhere on this article do they use the word sponsored (which this is). As well, that they're taking money to promote a game that their own journalists call awful.
This is the type of stuff that keeps me from sharing materials.
Am I the only one noticing the drop dash not working the same as it did in Mania? You need to be a little more precise in this game than you did in Mania.
Jon was literally spewing unfounded xenophobia. If he spoke on a platform founded on actual research rather than more hateful assumptions then I'd agree that what Playtonic said was uncalled for, but I think they were 100% in their rights.
It's only better to me because I think Nintendo's design stuck. They couldn't even curve the edges of the picture? It looks like someone stuck a decal on the top of their 3DS
I have no more hype left in me for this game. I tried to be excited, but I just don't care about dynasty warriors. Playing DW with a Zelda skin just isn't that exciting for me :/
I think, currently, having websites like NintendoLife reviewing the eshop games evens the playing field. In the 80's/90's Nintendo's lockout chip was necessary because if they started having a slew of bad/unplayable games it would ruin the reputation of the console. Now people are more Saavy and can turn to internet based media to see if the game's worth checking out.
If anything I think Nintendo should also make demo versions mandatory for all indie developers. Let people actually play the game before they purchase. OR, go the Android route and allow consumers to request a refund within an hour of purchase!
I usually wait for the reviews here, but I didn't wait I picked up Megaman 5. It's totally awesome! The arm power up changes the gameplay more than I thought it would!
Yeah, they're both watchable, just extremely sub par. I don't really care though becasue, you know. I've got a computer and and a phone which do it better.

Re: Review: Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon & the Blade of Light - We've Come A Long Way In 30 Years
Still probably better than 3 houses for me. 3 houses was bogged down with so much filler crap. I just wanted to get back to the core gameplay.

Re: It's Been Three Years Since We First Embarked On A Super Mario Odyssey
It was a great first playthrough and a horribly boring second playthrough.
Re: Poll: One Year Later, How Are You Getting On With Ring Fit Adventure?
I bought it then a month later found out I had Psoriatic Arthritis.
So I have been too stiff to play much. But it is very fun.
Re: Review: Cloudpunk - An Evocative Noir Adventure Ruined By A Messy Switch Port
This does not look like a game that would need to be overly compromised for the switch. Too bad.
Re: Nintendo Lawyers Hit Fan-Made Zelda Game With Fatal Copyright Claim
My biggest hope is that this is like AM2R where Ninty takes it down because they're just months away from announcing their own version.
Otherwise, it's just Nintendo being Nintendo which would stink
Re: Zelda-Esque Oceanhorn 2 Brings Its "Epic" Open-World Adventure To Switch This Month
The first Oceanhorn had a lot of potential, just let down in a few key categories like very basic puzzles and a lack of any real interesting identity.
But I do think the devs were passionate about it, and was really peeved that 2 was set to be an Apple Arcade exclusive.
But I'll pick it up day one just to support indie devs that want to do something a little more traditional like a Zelda.
Re: Random: Brazil's President Keeps Using Sonic Music In His Tweets, And Now The Mario Theme
Apparently this president is a real monster too. If anything he should be using Eggman's menacing boss themes from Sonic 1 or CD.
Re: Random: Pokémon Fans Are Worrying That Ash's Pikachu Might Soon Evolve Into Raichu
I haven't watched the anime in 15 years, but I hope that it's true. Raichu was always so cute and super underrated.
Re: Review: Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles Remastered Edition - A Weak RPG Enlivened By Nostalgia
I'm not a fan of complex RPG's Paper Mario and Mario and Luigi is as complex as I like it.
Hell as a kid I even like FF Mystic Quest as a kid

Re: Poll: Which Remastered Mario Games Would You Pick For A 'Super Mario All-Stars 2'?
Super Mario World is a near-perfect game in art-style and gameplay. No update needed. It would take away from its identity.

Iggy PopZalia Koopa.

You could emulate SNES on Original DS hardware. Economics is the only (seeming) reason that Ninty isn't putting out these games.

Re: Takashi Tezuka: Mario Maker Won't Move Quite Like the Original Mario Bros.
Ok fine... How about this: DLC... Nintendo want's to start incopoorating that anyway.
1) Make the game slightly cheaper and give DLC options like SMB2/3/world graphics.
2) Make a DLC pack with different physic engines.

I really like Sonic Lost World on the 3DS. It's majorly flawed, but it's definitly one of the best portable Sonic games I've ever played.
Aside from the cinematics which look like crapola.
@the_beaver
Clearly you haven't played the game. Try playing it yourself before you blindly trust reviews...
