@sketchturner I played OG version, I believe DLCs and expansions will not fix a dull game with counterintuitive controllers. The game gets old in 5 minutes and nothing there make the player get attached to that world, to keep playing.
If you want a 2D game with brutal combats, Blasphemous is your game, not this one. (I believe Blasphemous is cheaper so, you win twice there)
@Olmectron Citra runs nothing on New 3DS mode and struggles a lot with wifi conectivity. Accuracy is citra's goal, even so, we can't consider citra accurate as of now.
Also, despite being open source, lots of builds are locked behind paid communities or on really obscure discord servers, so I keep my point: 3DS on PC still is way bellow original hardware.
Saddly the emulator used for 3DS (Citra is the name) still is way bellow the original hardware. They will advance, but lots needs to be done specially when you look against the new 3DS models
what Rare became? From the most awesome developer on earth, to a single live service game developer. Once they released 90+ critic rated game, now they just release clothes to Sea of Thieves characters.
it is easy to raise prices without that mess sony did. Just take a game or two (they are free to print nowadays), bundle in and charge more, then stop supplying the gameless version of the console.
@Magrane Nintendo of America ruins the developer's vision on their localizations a lot of times. They are overly concerned about alcohol and body parts, but ultra relaxed with guns and violence. In the past they hated cute games too, this at least changed over the years.
Anyway, thats the price we pay for a readable alphabet.
@RupeeClock ocarina of time can't run on PS1 for obvious reasons. I only has 2mb of ram (half of N64) and just 33 mhz of frequency on the processor (about 1/3 of N64). Loading times would be sweet too, with that super slow cd drive.
There is a reason why big open world games ended up only on N64. Also there is a reason for all that darkness and fog when you look far away on PS1 games.
@XenoShaun @nessisonett but the game is in English, those games always come out in English. But sure, it's 100% a Japanese thing, they just translated because they like to burn money. "Incel" is a term that probably came from the Japanese language btw.
come on, this thing is not even 10% of what we have on mario paint composer for the snes.
By the way, it is a cheap game to buy today, come with a mouse and a mouse pad, both are terrible to today's standards, but hyperkin makes a phenomenal optical mouse for the snes, it worth it
@chardir I don't know if there is a way without opening. Inside is easy to spot, on the back of the stick metal housing, the old is flat, the new has a squary recess.
@KindofaBigDeal newly manufactured joycons will not drift anymore. The old ones with a $6 replacement stick will not drift either. It's too cheap of a repair to Nintendo not do a recall.
On Persona 3 Portable you are allowed to direct control your party, at the cost of having a whole chapter less and less CG scenes too. It do not worth it, but they went with this version anyway. That's why I suggest people who want to play Persona 3 to go with the FES version on your PS2 emulator of choice.
@maulinks actually the number of DLC sold can, and I believe do surpass the total sales. It is not like BTOW that has I believe two DLCs that are expansive and somewhat far from the game core. Those PC games sell like 30, 40 or even more types of DLC that mess straight with the core game, with core mechanics. So there are people buying no DLC, but there are those who buy like 35, so in the end DLC sold surpass the games sold.
Cities Skyline that is the subject here has 16k players online just right now on steam, and it never fluctuate below 10k and this is going for years now, so it is a steady customer base that feed the game with money, and the money become DLC, and the cycle continues.
To be honest, I like this model, keeps games alive for decades, takes a lot of ideas from the community and it is not abusive like micro-transactions. It is not like console DLC either where they have planed or ready DLC on release day (expansive most times), and when its done is done.
@maulinks it is so cheap that is almost given sometimes, they make their money with DLCs. There are tons of DLCs for this game
(PC focused games have this characteristic, low entry, high income with DLC, you can see that on a bunch of games like Euro Truck Simulator 2, Europa Universalis 4, Train Simulator series and so on)
@Jireland92 It was the worst selling Mario sports game on switch on debut week, it also is the worst selling game on switch that features Mario (again on debut week).
@RubyCarbuncle just a heads up, there are 3 pokemon stadiums on N64. I don't know how they would name the first one tho. Maybe stadium zero, or maybe they keep it japan only.
Kingdom Hearts is the most overrated series in entire Video Game landscape and the storyline is the worst part. They made games ignoring everything that happened on previous iterations, than tried to fix after, throwing the same excuses for everything that has continuity problems (time travel, multiverse, dimensions and stuff). Somehow they made an RPG series with a story worst than King of Fighters.
@Bunkerneath most consoles back on the day had this approach. Super Famicom (Super Nintendo) and N64 did that: different shells for compatible internals.
step 1: save money on engineering your product step 2: build an aggressive team of lawyers with the money you saved not developing safe products step 3: release a product filled with security flaws step 4: sue people who are exploiting the failures of your product
the capture and battle systems from arceus were so amazing, fluid, fast. Looks like they cut part of that mechanic. Looks like you can't just thrown the ball on that route 1 things, also it seems that you cannot walk during the battle, nor change the first pokemon on the fly.
Other complain of mine is the lack of voice. It is 2022, text boxes were fine like 15 years ago, it is time to move foward
Despite current market value, Japanese games do have more historical value. I mean, the people who localized Super Mario Bros are not the original team, and they changed quite a lot thr labels and box art. That's not the creator's vision.
People quoting a 12 years old comment is hilarious! But it is good that the review is that old, it is ensured that there is no bias against the format it is being delivered (NSO subscription).
