Re: Random: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Mod Updates Toad Circuit Grass

@Yosher don't feat cfw, you can easily split the switch in somewhat dual boot mode. When you turn on you choose if you enter on the unmodded OS or on the custom OS, they are sandboxed, so you will never be banned on your original firmware, never.
There are also layers of protection on the custom firmware, it can't connect to Nintendo servers if you so choose, and you can get a fake serial number, so Nintendo will not know who you are.

If you follow the guide (and today it is not hard at all), the risk is zero, not close to zero but indeed zero.

Re: Talking Point: WATA And The Grey Areas Of Game Preservation - Is There Any Better Way?

What worth more more? The original Divine Comedy written by Dante himself or the English translation of the Divine Comedy from that timeframe written by someone nobody cares about?

My point is that people put too much value in games they were localized to English by some dude without talent, and treat the originals (usually japanese) as garbage.

For exemple, the ultra valuable sealed super Mario bros has a box art that has not the creator's vision on it just because it was not made by the game's original team. So historically has much less value than the japanese version.

Re: Zelda: Breath Of The Wild 2 Delay Sees Nintendo Shares Slump 6%

Activision, EA, Microsoft are examples os companies that do every single decision based on stock prices.
That's why we have games as a service, microtransactions and game subscriptions so hard on those companies. So I hope Nintendo keeps not caring about stocks as much as those companies do.

Re: Feature: Mario Kart: Double Dash!! Is The Best Mario Kart, Right? Let's Find Out

abdias

I don't know why the poll joked about Super Circuit when it's indeed better than double dash. It's fake 3D is a work of art, and the track design is flawless (unlike Double Dash that tries to be goofy or something like that).

Also, all previous entries of MK had to work hard around hardware limitations, Double Dash was the first free from that, and it didn't make the game more fun to play than the oldies.

Re: Video: Switch Online Could Learn A Lot From Xbox Game Pass

Microsoft invented the paid online, the broken games on released date, the day one paid DLCs, the season passes, the full price microtransaction based games and Nintendo is slowing learning all of that awesome features.

Now super smart people are asking for Nintendo to copy their DRM based and anti-physical way to monetize game. That's awesome!!! Pay but never own!!! That's the future!!!

Re: Video: So, About That Pokémon Legends: Arceus Post Game

abdias

there's a lot to do post game, but the opportunities devs lost for post game are still way beyond that.
Back on black 2 white 2 there were a feature where the player was set to build and manage a mall, Breath of The Wild the player can build a home and a city, but legends arceus has nothing like that, despite have space and plot supporting some kind of development.

Re: Random: 22 Years Ago Today The Nintendo 64DD Had More Online Features Than Switch

@Korgon as a father of two I really have peace of mind letting my kids play on switch, I know they will not communicate unsupervised because there isn't a web browser or a message system.

As an adult player, I don't care about those features because I have a smartphone.

So instead of lazyness or incompetence, I believe that the lack of those features is a planed move to please the actual customer (many times the gamer is just a moneyless annoying teenager, and not the actual person that puschase stuff)

Re: Soapbox: NSO Isn't Game Pass, But Nintendo Is Learning The Benefits Of Subscription Models

abdias

gamepass has hundreds of games that are sold for $1 each on second hand market.

NSO has a handful of games but they costs hundreds. This is value.

Most people complaining are who don't care about classic games, and to be honest, switch is not the better choice for them anyway. For those who care for the classics the service is very good, not nearly as good as WiiU VC, but still good.

Re: Feature: 16 Tracks That Need To Be In The Mario Kart 8 DLC

abdias

the writer forgot that there is Mario Kart on snes, and the ghost tracks are simply amazing on that game. With all snes limitations you almost feel the ground texture when driving, and those tracks have tricky shortcuts hidden, they are AMAZING.

Aside of that, the bowser tracks are amazing too, and the Mario Circuit 2 is super suitable to the glide now present in mario kart 8.
