The PC port for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time has been out for a few months now, and modders have been doing some pretty crazy stuff with it, too. Now, it looks like the port can also be played on Mac OS and hacked Wii U consoles, opening it up to a much wider audience.
As reported by VGC, the latest release of the port from Harbour Masters can be downloaded via the team’s official Discord. Dubbed 'Ship of Harkinian', the latest release also comes with a few extra bits and bobs, including:
- Free camera mode
- Equip items to a d-pad
- Support for up to 250fps
- Item randomiser
A range of various cheats have also been added, including the ability to adjust the damage Link takes when falling.
You can watch the announcement of the latest release in the video below, including a breakdown of the new features:
Have you tried the PC port of Ocarina of Time yet? What do you think? Let us know!

This and Jak & Daxter are probably my most wanted official remasters. Free camera would benefit both games tremendously.
When you have source code, it becomes possible to port a game to multiple systems.
Heck, you could conceivably get the game running natively on the original PlayStation if you were so inclined!
I look forward to trying the updated PC port.
I had a fun time playing an earlier build at 4K 60FPS; up until it abruptly crashed to desktop during the Deku tree's cutscene after finishing the first dungeon.
I'll wait till it goes physical
@Mr_Fox You'll be happy to know that fans have done the same for Jak and Daxter. It's called OpenGoal.
I wish this was available on Switch:/ officially )))
Ps Vita port!! Pleaseeeee!
I'm hoping this eventually gets a model pack that replaces all the game's models with the ones in OoT3D, and then an HD texture pack for that. Either way, it's about time Ocarina of Time got camera controls, and I do loves me some randomizer action!
@KayFiOS
To do that, you would need to provide a legally dumped 3DS ROM of Ocarina of Time 3D.
The Ship of Harkinian port needs a legally dumped ROM of Ocarina of Time to work as a data source for assets like models, textures, and audio.
It also needs to be a very specific type of ROM, like the PAL version of the two-game bonus disc on GameCube.
@RupeeClock ocarina of time can't run on PS1 for obvious reasons. I only has 2mb of ram (half of N64) and just 33 mhz of frequency on the processor (about 1/3 of N64). Loading times would be sweet too, with that super slow cd drive.
There is a reason why big open world games ended up only on N64. Also there is a reason for all that darkness and fog when you look far away on PS1 games.
I literally Just started my OoT WiiU playthrough of the VC Version and was bummed Out at my 16.7 FPS PAL Version. Might give this a go.
@RupeeClock
Not necessarily. You just need to extract the models and textures from the 3DS version, which I believe people have already done a while ago, and then put in the effort to replace everything. It will be a lot easier to import models, textures, and animations into the PC port thanks to the open source code, but it'll still take some time to do.
@Link-Hero
The point is that although assets can be extracted from ROMs, they can't be legally distributed.
This is why the Ship of Harkinian as a PC application asks you to provide a ROM yourself.
@RupeeClock I own a copy of Ocarina of Time, both on N64, and legally downloaded to my 3DS, which I can extract using Homebrew easily. I think the N64 version is probably the only tricky part, seeing it has to be in a specific format.
@KayFiOS
Even then, last I checked you need one of two very specific builds of the N64 ROM.
I recall there may be around 19 different builds accounting for region, version revision, and distribution platform.
The decompilation work that made this PC source build possible was done using a PAL Master Quest ROM extracted from the GameCube Two-Game Bonus Disc.
Interesting, cool AND it's one of my fav games of all time. But can I just say....YAWN. Cool with my 3DS version
@RupeeClock Yeah... I'm not putting up with the hassle if that's true. I legally own the game several times over, be it N64, GameCube (via the Collector's Disc), Wii, 3DS, Wii U, and arguably NSO, so being region locked out of this is extremely dumb. If getting a proper ROM for this comes down to a choice of paying extortionate amounts to buy it secondhand or be a bit naughty and get it for free... Well, Nintendo isn't getting paid for it regardless. Maybe I'll buy it on my second 3DS from the eShop before that closes if I really feel the need to clear my conscience.
@KayFiOS
I actually did legally dump the necessary ROM myself, and it was easier than doing so from an N64 cartridge.
I have the GameCube collector's edition disc myself, and dumped the ISO using a soft-modded Wii years ago.
I was able to use Dolphin Emulator on PC to extract the ROM from the data structure of the ISO, and the Ship of Harkinian Windows program accepted that ROM and worked it's magic.
As for the part about using assets from the 3DS version instead, that's a whole other project really.
Yeah but can we finally obtain the Triforce by swimming to the bottom of Zora's domain and into the hole as adult Link, then spinning around the tree in Kakariko Village 64 times, then waiting until nightfall to talk to Rauru where he opens the beta levels? I saw a photo of the Triforce in beta screenshots in a Japanese magazine so I know it's there...
My least favorite Zelda game, but I would gladly play this again just for the improved framerate. Maybe I'll even try modding my WiiU for it.
Some of those other tweaks sound nice too, I wanted to try my hand at a Navi-less ROM hack, but never got around to it (if that's what that feature actually does).
Didn't see it mentioned, but hopefully there's a tweak to increase the text rate, too. It's really difficult to go back to the original slow speed.
I mean, I'm replaying it for the 3rd time on NSO in less than a year, because why not, but this looks great. It's just the same game, but sharper, wider, and more fluid, and hopefully with faster text speed. Seriously, the two biggest improvements in Majora's Mask, having just replayed that one too, are: faster text speed and quicker start menu. Little UX tweaks but, boy, they sure do make a difference. Good thing, too, because in Majora's Mask slotting items and masks from your start menu and talking to people are, like, most of the game.
What is the frame rate of the Wii U version? I doubt it's up to 250.
@RupeeClock @KayFiOS From the FAQ:
Q. Will 3DS assets be supported?
A. Yes, eventually!
@Banjo- They show it on WiiU right before they announce the option to uncap the framerate, so I'm guessing they just didn't have that tweak enabled for that clip.
@Asaki I hope it's 60fps.
Where do I find the mac version
@Znake I'm sure Nintendo will do something with it sooner or later. Majora's Mask too. They will likely take the 3DS remasters as a starting point and build from there.
@Cza
You want the soh-mac.7z file found on their nightly buildbot.

soh.7z is the Windows build.
