@Anti-Matter This game was made for portable gaming like a Steamdeck or Nintendo Switch. I dunno why anyone would buy a PS5 edition over the Nintendo Switch edition if they had both. I have both and would play it on Nintendo Switch.
@Medic_alert Haha, you gamers are such a funny bunch.
If Nintendo came up with a completely new gimmick to try to sell the console on you'd be all "Wtf they had one job, just deliver a better version of the switch!!"
Now they delivered exactly on that, and gamers like you are all: "there is nothing new going on wtf"
@JohnnyMind I'm checking for your comment in every article to read cause you're always there in every article with an interesting comment! Thanks for your commitment!
I also think that "in-progress" reviews are just weird. If you've been playing a game this much that you can write 1200 words about, playing for 5-10 more hours isn't going to turn an 8/10 game in a 4/10 nor a 10/10.
Like many others, still playing Palworld this weekend. My God, it’s so much fun and it’s a shame Pokemon games don’t offer this type of freedom and world in their games.
@PinderSchloss Really? The story, characters and gameplay was mediocore in Sea of Stars. However, it had the most beautiful pixel graphics of the year.
I think I might be able to look past the poor performance of this game, but then there is yet another aspect holding me back from purchasing it: the DLC that holds quality of life features behind a paywall.
The hilarious thing is that Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince is no where near the top 10 games people are playing this weekend because 1) the team saw Pokemon SV and said "challenge accepted", ultimately creating a game that looks and performs worse 2) Barely any marketing, not even sending out review codes to game websites 3) Limited distribution in the West
But hey, now they can complain again that DQM doesn't sell in the West and they can spend the next 10 years not localizing any DQM games.
I was initially hyped for Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince, but with the crappy demo performance, the lack of professional reviews, the mixed reception from people having played it and a lack of proper distribution in game shops in my country makes me think I'll skip this one.
They should've really developed this properly, with decent marketing and better physical distribution and that would've probably resulted in a lot of success and sales.
@AmplifyMJ why have they chosen not to review it? That doesn’t make any sense since it’s a big title and I’m sure people would love to know the verdict on the Switch title. The only explanation I can think of is that they have been given money not to publish a bad review.
What always surprises me about the people working at Nintendo Life is that they play games the whole week long for work, and then it's weekend and they PLAY EVEN MORE GAMES.
Always makes me think they don't have any other interests or hobbies than gaming.
@Chocobo_Shepherd how does it prove ScarVio should run way better? Dragon Quest Monsters The Dark Prince demo isn't exactly a flawless experience, lol. Plus the graphics look worse than Scarlet & Violet, even.
@Jireland92 no, a remaster updates the graphics while keeping the game design the same. A remake takes the original and updates the graphics and game design, for example, the FFVII remakes. Super Mario RPG is a remaster.

Re: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond - Meet The Team
Won’t be buying this with it having such a huge focus on a bigger cast. Shame
Re: Game Of The Year Nominee Donkey Kong Bananza Wins Critics' Choice Award
Strange that it won anything. It’s a good game but hardly better than that.
Re: Atlus To Address Persona 3 Reload's Switch 2 Frame Rate Hiccups In "Future Patches"
They’ll fix it later instead of release, so I’ll buy it never. Thanks greedy ass *****.
Re: Another Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Collab Appears To Have Been Revealed
Who could’ve guessed this would be the best kart racer of the year in the year with a new mario kart releasing?
Re: Video: 13 Exciting New Games Coming To Switch 1 & 2 In September 2025
@Oldstalk see, it’ll be €20 like I told you
Re: Video: 13 Exciting New Games Coming To Switch 1 & 2 In September 2025
@Oldstalk in that case you’ll have to wait 4 more days until it’s out and you can see the leaks confirmed. Will you buy it day 1?
Re: Video: 13 Exciting New Games Coming To Switch 1 & 2 In September 2025
@JohnnyMind will you be starting silksong on release date?
Re: Video: 13 Exciting New Games Coming To Switch 1 & 2 In September 2025
@Oldstalk the price has been known for a few days already… it’s going to be $20

Re: Final Fantasy Tactics Physical Switch Release Has A Free Switch 2 Upgrade
@ekwcll because people are dumb and don’t understand that at all
Re: Pokémon Legends: Z-A Secures Switch & Switch 2 Release Date
@Patendo right? It’s actively deterring me from buying it

Re: Opinion: Not Enough People Are Talking About This Early GOTY Contender
If it had a physical edition in Europe I’d play it. But as it stands, I’m not gonna pay 50-60 euro for a digital edition.

I’ll definitely buy the gold edition in a few years once the bugs have been ironed out and missing features added
Re: Nope, Monster Hunter Wilds Producer Still Won't Spill The Beans On A Switch 2 Port
They can’t even get it to run decently on PS5… how could it possibly run on Nintendo switch 2?
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (New Year Edition)
@JohnnyMind I’m always impressed how you manage to keep track of and juggle playing 15-20 games at the same time. I am not able to do it

I don’t know what direct the author of this article has watched to conclude it’s a solid lineup, but it’s definitely not the same one I’ve watched.

Ah it's a shame they brand themselves as souls-like. A game like Elden Ring is too hard for me.

Does that imply Monster Hunter Stories 3?
Re: Prince Of Persia: The Lost Crown Receives A New Update On Switch
You know there's a content drought when nintendo life starts with their posting of patch notes.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (January 20th)
@Tasuki I'm surprised people still play WoW nowadays. It's such an outdated game by today's standards and gamplay design.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (January 20th)
@JohnnyMind I'm always impressed you manage to squeeze time in to alternate between 12 or so games every weekend. I barely have time for 1.
Re: Nintendo Download: 11th January (North America)
@LEGEND_MARIOID maybe Nintendo Life will skip the review like they did with Hogwarts Legacy too?
Re: Prince Of Persia: The Lost Crown Estimated To Be A "25 Hour" Game
@Zaruboggan what games are hitting in February? Seems like a pretty dry period to me
Re: Here's A Look At Unicorn Overlord's Collector's Edition (Monarch Edition)

Re: Metacritic Reveals "The Worst Video Games Of 2023"
Only 10 below average (<50/100) quality games in a whole year. Truly one of the best years ever.
Re: Review: Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince (Switch) - A Near-Royal Return For The Addictive Monster-Catching Spin-Off
@Arawn93
"If people here didn’t learn already is that people can look past that if the rest of the game is appealing enough."
Exactly. That's the reason Pokemon SV has sold more than 23 million copies so far. Because it's a fun open world Pokemon game.
Re: Review: Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince (Switch) - A Near-Royal Return For The Addictive Monster-Catching Spin-Off
@MARl0 I agree with you. It's incredible how the devs of DQM: The Dark Prince managed to make this game look worse and run worse than Pokemon S/V.
Re: Review: Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince (Switch) - A Near-Royal Return For The Addictive Monster-Catching Spin-Off
@Erigen That's one of the main reasons why I'm not buying the full game. Paywalling quality of life features is sh*ty and not a practice I support.

Re: Round Up: The First Impressions Of Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince Are In
@jobvd that’s because the game is not very good and they want to hide it as long as possible.

Really a shame about the day 1 DLCs, that stopped me from even considering a purchase.
