Re: Review: Flap Flap (3DS eShop)

Zando

"one of the darkest eras of gaming" lmao

Flappy Bird is a quality game and there's nothing wrong with it. I'll stand by that. Flap Flap, on the other hand, smells like trash from a mile away.

Moving around an SD card isn't that hard, is it? If you've got a New 3DS (XL), you don't even need to remove the card.

I don't mind the lack of an online community — Sudomemo still has us covered there, although you need to use Flipnote Studio DSi to access that. My biggest gripe is the gross-looking compression present in exported AVI's.

Exported AVI's actually ARE 3D, though. You just need to do some converting, and you can post them to YouTube as 3D videos, and even watch them in 3D on YouTube with your New 3DS (XL). http://www.3dsview.com/2011/12/12/3ds-view-tutorial-how-to-convert-3ds-videos-to-youtube-3d/

As for where to share your Flipnotes? I recommend the Flipnote Studio 3D subreddit: http://www.reddit.com/r/FlipnoteStudio3D

Great review, NL. Keep up the good work.

Re: Crash: Mind over Mutant

Zando

@pntjr Naught Dog didn't sell Crash to Radical. Are you forgetting all the games that happened from 2002 to 2006?

Mind over Mutant and Crash of the Titans aren't awful games, just very different from the others in the series. Radical was working on a platforming-centered game called Crash Landed, but it was cancelled in 2010. Look that up before you criticize Radical too much.

Re: Poll: Which Nintendo Franchises Should be Produced as TV Shows?

Zando

Kirby: Right Back At Ya was one of my favorite shows as a kid. I loved all the characters. I wish Dedede's in-game personality was more like the show. Seeing more of Escargoon would be awesome. Meta Knight was badass, and Kabu was always ready to send the "WARP STAR." Great show/10.

Re: Ocarina Of Time 3D Reportedly No Longer In Production

Zando

I didn't know this was new, it has been kinda hard to find for a while. I mean look at Wii games like Kirby's Return to Dreamland, they've obviously been out of production for a while, but there was no article when that happened. Again, why is this news?

Re: Review: Scarygirl Illustration Kit (3DS eShop)

Zando

Colors! 3D strangely lacks some things you would expect to be basic, such as resizing and repositioning layers or paintings. The original DS homebrew didn't even have multiple layers! But I do like Colors, it is definitely a solid tool.

I really like Inchworm too, but the DS hardware limits it a lot. An Inchworm 3D (or even a 2d-only Inchworm 3DS) would be quite awesome.

I wonder why Flat Black Films hasn't made an animation software for PC, come to think of it. Stuff like Flash and Toon Boom can be way too expensive, and have a lot of options most people never use. Put Inchworm's drawing and animation tools in a sleek PC application for $10, and you have a very decent option for beginning animators. Tl;dr, DSi animation software is better than any PC animation software that doesn't cost hundreds of dollars.

I think I ended up ranting, but anyway can't wait for FS3D. What article was I commenting on again?

Re: Link’s Swimming is a Notable Change in The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D

Zando

@HyperSonicEXE

I really, really hate the blatantly obvious weak points in Zelda games. "Oh, I wonder if I'm supposed to hit the glowing, pulsating eye!" It's offensive, that's the only way of putting it.

The exception to this is probably Link Between Worlds, since that one is a lot more lighthearted and fast-paced, and not intended to be taken seriously. MM, on the other hand, is quite dark and serious and the eye weakspots make my stomach turn slightly.

Re: Flipnote Studio 3D Free Download Details Point to a Stripped Back and Offline Experience

Zando

Sign up for 3 or 4 extra Club Nintendo accounts so you can give the codes to the people who were too slow!

If the exporting options are up to par with the Japanese release, the lack of online services won't completely destroy the potential of the application. You can export animated GIFs, sequential GIFs, and .AVI movies.

Exporting AVI's is the easiest way to share Flipnotes with audio, since they can be uploaded to YouTube with ease. However, exported AVI's are horribly compressed. And the audio will be scratchy. Here is a sample AVI Flipnote: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vDxe3pFkZOY (created by me lol)

However, if you have any video editing software, you can sync the crisp, non-compressed GIF export with the original audio, creating something that is a little easier on the eyes and ears. It takes a bit of effort, but it's not too bad.

Fans will definitely create services and sites for sharing Flipnotes. Collaboration is even possible, since you can send the Flipnote's file to others for editing on their 3DS.

Re: A New Rhythm Heaven Game On Nintendo 3DS Is Music To Our Ears

Zando

Each of the previous games has had 50 total minigames. But many of them are Remixes, (combination of several previous minigames into a new song) and sequels (A harder version of a previous minigame with the same tune remixed).

Leaving out the Remixes and sequels, and if I'm remembering correctly the GBA game had 20 unique games, the DS one had 24, and the Wii game had 28. 20+24+28 = 72. So unless they are including old remixes, this will have almost every minigame in the series!

It will be interesting to see how the game is structured though for sure. And I have a Japanese 3DS so I can't wait for summer!

Re: Nintendo Direct Confirmed for 14th January, With Focus on Spring Releases

Zando

Oh, look, it's that animated walking alien avatar guy. I bet he's going to say something about Flipnote Studio 3D!

Dang, how did you know. Eh, I think it would be a good time for NOA and NOE to finally release the dang thing. It's no longer the holiday season, so they should be able to squeeze in a simple animation app/online community into their priorities, right? RIGHT?

Re: Fake Commercial for 'The Nintendo App' Stirs Debate

Zando

I think it is a brilliant idea, for Nintendo to release a tablet/smartphone app for emulation of their retro games. I don't buy a Wii U or 3DS to play NES games, I buy them for the new stuff.

Nintendo could offer NES, SNES, and Gameboy games for $0.99 each (current prices are far too expensive for old games) or a subscription for, say, $5 a month with access to all Nintendo-published games for their old systems.

It would do really well. People love old Nintendo games. Thy shouldn't be so stingy with their retro titles! Heck, people emulate them anyway.

Re: Smash Bros. 2v2 For Glory Exploit Makes Pac-Man Duo Unbeatable

Zando

Hahaha, nice trolling. Hilarious, but annoying. Hope it gets patched though. That's the type of thing that nobody saw coming in testing....

A small correction: you can KO from going too far off screen without being launched by another player, if it's to the side. Just not the top.

Re: Pixar Movie, Up, is Now Available for 3DS in Japan

Zando

I'd get it for my Japanese 3DS if it were in English, but id guess its probably not.

... I wonder if FS3D isn't out in the West, just because it's "not a game...?" But they have since released Pokemon Art Academy so I have no idea.

Come on Nintendo, I'm still waiting!!!
