The recent Nintendo Direct broadcast was so packed with content that we can surely be forgiven for missing one or two things from the Japanese event -- one of which is the news that there's going to be a 3DS entry in the popular Rhythm Heaven series.
The title is expected to hit Japan this summer and will contain 100 mini-games, 70 of which are taken from previous entries on the Game Boy Advance, Nintendo DS and Wii.
You can catch the reveal in the Japanese Nintendo Direct broadcast just after the 44 minute mark.
Sadly, there was no word on a western launch in the North American and European broadcasts.

I hope we get it over here! I love the series
70% of the minigames are taken from past games? Hmm...
This is one of my favourite series ever! @DBPirate Think of it like, 30 new minigames! That's allot for the rhythm games.
Argh please come to Europe!!!!
@DBPirate I'm can't remember completely but I'm pretty sure most Rhythm Heaven games have around 30 new minigames.
@PvtOttobot @C-Olimar Ah, ok thanks. I've never played a Rhythm Heaven game so that's news to me.
Day 1 if they localize it. And please localize it! Perfects are still an infuriating stress but I love the minigames and the sense of humour.
I have 100%'d all three games in this series and will be gutted if this one doesn't get localized. Curse you region lock!!
This was one of the things i was expecting that they would reveal, so its really a bummer that it will be only released in japan as of now...
i like the game on DS but this looks like recycling of the old games and nothing new
This has better come West!
I'd buy this immediately. I've never gotten all the way through the previous editions, but they are quite a blast.
Nintendo needs to localize this, I need it
@megamanlego They just announced it like, a day and a half ago, and you're already calling it a bummer?
PLEASE!
@icedude545
Yes. I would also love a new one!
I would prefer something similar but for Warioware.
how do we make Nintendo aware that people outside of Japan want this game?
@DBPirate that's because people liked the mini-games form the last game a lot.
getcha in the mood!
hope they include the drum kit learning system from that first GBA game. i became a drummer because of it.. NO JOKE
@Tsuchinoko Yeah because i really want it to come over to NA too!
They better localize it, I wanna play that GBA one for once! TwT
@Drac_Mazoku The thing is, they advertised the DS one, and I think that did alright. I knew nothing about the Wii title until I saw it in the shop. One copy of it.
@Drac_Mazoku I completely agree. Given their conservative approach to North America, I'd be surprised to see it here. Maybe Europe will have more luck.
i'm a big fan of the series anyway, so i'll be getting it regardless, but since the GBA release was never released outside of japan this is still def. a worthwhile purchase for others, despite the repeats, if they localize it.
Each of the previous games has had 50 total minigames. But many of them are Remixes, (combination of several previous minigames into a new song) and sequels (A harder version of a previous minigame with the same tune remixed).
Leaving out the Remixes and sequels, and if I'm remembering correctly the GBA game had 20 unique games, the DS one had 24, and the Wii game had 28. 20+24+28 = 72. So unless they are including old remixes, this will have almost every minigame in the series!
It will be interesting to see how the game is structured though for sure. And I have a Japanese 3DS so I can't wait for summer!
Ugh, I would have loved this. I loved getting perfect scores in the DS version.
I love the Rhythm Heaven games.
You know; at this point I really want a New 3DS (the regular sized one) but I'm just too poor to be able to afford the system, never mind any games after that
The 3DS has turned into a really great system all round, with really solid hardware that has some pretty cool features, especially in its 'New' iteration, and a lot of genuinely great games.
I have every Rhythm Heaven game released in North America... which is only 2 games. I would love to expand my collection.
before you think 30 new games is bad, the DS one only had about 25 new games, and considering you also get 70 other ones, id say this is good
I gave my brother the DS Rhythm Heaven for one of his Christmas gifts and if I like it then I will consider trying another one. Have to wait until he is done with it though!
Cool...until I read it mostly consists of old content?!
If they are localizing it, it should be remembered that they usually take a while to translate the game. However, in this case, it theoretically should take twice as long to translate it, as they are now localizing twice the content (the original was Japan-only, while the other two were localized anyway). I wouldn't expect to see this anytime soon.
@Henmii 30 new minigames is plenty considering the previous games reused ideas after 20-25 minigames. Some of the content from older games in this new game is from Rhythm Tengoku (released only in Japan), so plenty of people haven't even gotten a chance to play those minigames before.
All I know is that I'll be hyped for this.
I expect a 2016 release for the rest of the world, though.
I've been meaning to get Rhythm Heaven Fever. I'd just rather get this.
@Swiket It worked well for Rhythm Heaven on the DS. I got a perfect on every minigame, so I can't agree with your comment about the touch screen lacking precision for these games. That being said, I wouldn't mind seeing a more traditional control scheme in this game.
This is one of my favorite Nintendo series, please North America <3
I've never played Rhythm Heaven I hear its great. Please come to NA.
Woo! We need this and Rhythm Tengoku for GBA NAO!
@AshFoxX Nice picture profile.
I'm likely going to cave and import this but I've got a few other games in front of it that I would like to import first.
I haven't even played the first Rhythm Heaven games yet, though I do have it on my shelf. I'll have to try that one out before I get excited about a new one.
Awesome! Here's hoping it makes it out of Japan!
That black thing looks like a smartphone haha
@Storytime7,
You may be right! Though maybe its not a bad idea to also release Rhythm Tengoku on Wii u e-shop.
