Valentine's Day is now less than a week away, which means that a sudden inflation of prices for cards, chocolates and flowers is well underway. If you do have a special somebody to share the day with it can be pricey, but if you're a youngster - or simply young at heart - then Nintendo is offering some alternatives.

The Play Nintendo website - which is targeted at young children - now has a Valentine's Day page that, unsurprisingly considering the target audience, is all about friendship. No need for expensive gifts here, as you can show a special friend how much you care by printing out a card yourself, showing both friendship and frugality.

Mushroom Kingdom Valentine
The Legend of Zelda Valenting
Kirby Valentines Day
Yoshi Valentines Day

Naturally this hub page is going for the super-cute approach, which is fair enough, though Nintendo does get into the spirit of this commercially-driven holiday by using its Valentine's Day video as one long advert for games.

Naturally the absence of a Choo-Choo-Choose You card is a fairly shocking oversight, as surely The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks art could have been dragged out for that - the internet is happy to oblige with its own versions, regardless. Maybe next year, Nintendo.
