@Dom_31 Obviously I disagree for the most part but I do agree with that statement about the original. It was a magical experience, a sense of wonder that just cannot replicated again.
Nevertheless, the game has aged poorly and today's Digimon games are at the very least, uhh, functional, they just lack the charm of the older games, that I cannot deny.
@Dom_31 I don't understand, how can you say this game is bad but think the original Digimon World is good? By all accounts, that game is terrible. Glitchy, practically nothing is explained, training is extremely tedious. I still love it for it's charm and nostalgia though.
At least Next 0rder is very accessible to anyone willing to give it a chance past the admittedly very boring beginning. Eventually training becomes trivial and life expectancy can be increased to absurd lengths.
Digimon games are infamously hard to get into, especially in the monster raising genre such as this one or the original. The Story games, which includes Dawn/Dusk as they were named World for the overseas market, are more traditional JRPGs and especially the Cyber Sleuth games are much more accessible and absolutely worth a shot for those who like the genre. Although the bleak story of the Cyber Sleuth games can turn people off.
Even if it happens, I highly doubt it would have the charm and heart the originals had. Of course I'd love to be wrong on this, Banjo-Tooie is one of my all-time favourites.
@mariopartyfan68 The Last of Us and Remastered combined sold 24M, Spider-Man 20M, Uncharted 4 16M, God of War 19.5M, Gran Turismo 5 11.9M.
Yeah I guess poor Sony doesn't know quality, especially if the argument is sales = quality.
Don't get me wrong, I have played almost every single Pokémon game in the main series but come on, that is such weak bait
@ALinkttPresent Eggs you can open VERY slowly, one by one with miserable chances at desirable and/or shiny Pokémon or you buy lots incubators/keys to open up to 12 at the same time at a dramatically increased speed but with the same terrible odds (and not even a pity pull mechanic)?
Just so y'all know, remote raiding is here to stay but the cost per remote raid pass will increase and remote raiders will also deal less damage than those at the raid. At least that was the original plan for it, who knows if they'll actually get through with it once the 'rona is (mostly) in the past.
@Big-Pepsi You seem to be the most offended one here judging by your constant need to belittle others. How about you follow what you actually claim in your own profile?
Sincerely, a gay girl interested in Senran Kagura.
@Spoony_Tech It's really not that hard anymore. You get 50k and 100k experience for reaching Ultra and Best Friends status respectively which you can double with Lucky Eggs. Sure, these milestones take 1 and 3 months respectively but that's still a whole lot. Reached it myself after almost a year today and I don't play more than a few hours daily at most, events aside when possible.
@NEStalgia Not entirely, no. How stable the footage of the streamed material is does depend on how good your internet and the source of the signal are, just how good the Vita is at handling the information or how stable the wireless connection is by itself is another matter. I've been able to play something like Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix on the Vita on high settings without big issues for one (including beating the strongest superboss on Critical)... assuming there's no interference which does happen quite a few times. There's a noticeable difference in quality between direct and internet connection still.
@audiobrainiac I wish but I doubt it (we can't even Share Play with anybody outside Germany...) But I am German so I am used to disappointment when it comes to gaming :3
@audiobrainiac Fair enough You do need a really strong connection to play things like this after all. Personally I've had good experiences using Remote Play both through the internet and a direct connection (which I suspect many people don't even know is possible), albeit not as good with the latter. My internet connection is above the average though.
Never could try PS Now though since it's not available in Germany :/
@audiobrainiac It's not much different than services like Netflix and that's been around for years, there are just a few more steps to consider and a stable connections is more important but very possible nowadays.
@gcunit It is browser-based so it is pretty much the best thing to say in this situation as it largely depends on WLAN, delay is inevitable but it may be as low as the lag between pushing a button and the console receiving that information. It seems like the Switch would then directly connect to the PC which would leave for a very fast connection only down to how strong your own Internet service is but I would like more information on that myself first.
In a way it is a more demanding multiplayer game, which I might add also suffer from input delay even if it's practically unnoticeable. and will probably require at least a decent connection as I mentioned in my earlier reply.
There aren't many other solutions to this aside from hardware modification which are another can of worms or allowing direct LAN connections but that's kind of destroying the point anyway.
@Arehexes When directly connecting to the PS4, I can play without any noticeable lag most of the time when staying close to the console if I am going for low video quality and 30fps. High video quality or 60fps usually also works for me, both are often too much however.
Connecting through WLAN is more complicated since it largely depends on your download/upload speed as well as the router's general quality (or a repeater). With a good service it can be much better than a direct connection though, I can often play even action games at the highest settings but am a victim of an unstable connection once in a while. 15 mbit/s are the recommended minimum for the optimal experience after all.
This app could work in theory quite well but it will largely depend on your service for the aforementioned reasons. High download speeds are a necessity for 60fps, although I am fairly certain they will offer more options than just high settings, it would be foolish otherwise, so it won't be a reasonable option for most people anyway. Especially if you were to use it with the Switch's handheld mode considering it'd have to be done through WLAN (at least for it to receive the information, sending your button settings to PC would be the least of your problems here).
I've played this game for over 400 hours on Steam (not entirely as Afterbirth+ though) and I'll definitely get it again for the Switch eventually, hard to resist playing this game whenever. It may be steep price for some but this game has potential to give you far more than most AAA games do nowadays.
@Popful The game only keeps track if you've gotten an Item at least once, finding every single Item and unlocking every secret is the requirement for True Platinum God in Rebirth and 1001% in Afterbirth.
Each run is random and based around what you've unlocked already. Aside from that, nothing from the previous run affects the other (except for one Item in Afterbirth but that's good and how it's meant to work) and everything and everybody can be found and fought again. You will play the game a great many times to unlock absolutely everything so you will find most of the Items eventually. There are ways to break the game to even be able to get most in one run, in Afterbirth it's even possible to get absolutely every Item in one run, provided you've unlocked them all.
Afterbirth is no new mode or something like that, it just makes the game larger by adding new stuff to it. The game plays the same but you will find new Items in old places but also more rooms, enemies, bosses and even chapters for you to find. Especially Greed Mode which does change the way you play but the gameplay itself remains the same.
Edmund McMillen is the brain, designer and artist behind both of these games, yes, but the devs/programmers are different people.
Super Meat Boy is much more difficult however as there are no crazy Items to make life easier for you. Isaac can be broken (intentionally) in so many ways and that is where the fun comes from. Usually it is that one Item that can make a run.
There is a however a secret character that is infamously difficult to play as but even then you have the option of restarting and until you get some really good stuff on the first floor.
@nessisonett Always great to see someone with experience on the matter It would probably help a bit more if screenshots and official video material would show more of the insanity possible instead of the starting gameplay which then is the part people assume isn't running properly.
More likely than not, that's not true, it's just that the "weaker" consoles struggle too fast, especially on Greed Mode where the madness is basically guaranteed.
@Popful My first response answers the first part but yes, it adds new Items, enemies, bosses, a character and more stuff to play with.
As for the second part: There's nothing really missable per se as it's randomly generated. Most of the time you will just miss other coins, keys and bombs. The more you get, the easier things will be but there remain other opportunities throughout each run. Sometimes there are actual Items out of range but you will always be able to get them in another run.
As you get better, you will be able to tell how to use your keys and bombs effectively. Especially finding the secret rooms or "tinted rocks" (which are tinted in a blueish color and have an X somewhere on them) which are usually worthwhile. You may want to check the wiki for more information however, just be aware of potential spoilers about how the game progresses http://bindingofisaacrebirth.gamepedia.com/Binding_of_Isaac:_Rebirth_Wiki
While I won't (can't) get it Day 1 most likely, I am still super excited for this. It's basically what I always wanted, modern games portable. Now I hope there will be great ports from the third parties such as Dark Souls 3, Fallout 4, Final Fantasy XV and other stuff. A girl can dream, right? In either case, super excited. Of course I will remain patient about more details of this intriguing system, especially the price.
@Slaz Everything about these Pokémon is set when you get them from the delivery girl so by saving right in front of her you can reset for good natures/IVs as much as you want. They indeed do have at least three perfect IVs which does help quite a bit.
I still remember using the Tweaking glitch to catch one and Darkrai in Diamond. Ahh, the nostalgia. Really happy to finally have this cutie again <3 (as Shaymin and Darkrai could never be caught legitimately they can't be transferred to X&Y)
From my point of view it will be tough to surpass Plague Knight's campaign. He is such a creative character, flying around the stages with bomb bursts has been a ton of fun to me and his arsenal allowed for some very entertaining combinations. That said, Specter Knight's campaign looks like it will be very swift and (classic) Ninja Gaiden like which does seem quite entertaining to me. Even if it won't come close to what I liked about Plague Knight, I am very much looking forward to this one and also King Knight.
Well, I really hope Shiny Xerneas and Shiny Yveltal spread through Europe eventually, would be rather sad if I had to wait until they can be encountered as Shiny in a new game :/ (which would also be much more frustrating even with the Shiny Charm).
@MarioPhD Just your standard priced DLC. Price is 10.99$ on Steam and will be the same for the other consoles so it will likely be the same here.
I think it's more than worth it considering the new content can easily keep you busy for over 50 hours just doing everything, even more than that if you just want to have fun.
@Calllack In Gen VI EVs are calculated immediately for any stat but full effect is of course achieved only on Level 100. This fortunately allows you to EV train every Pokémon on 100. In Gen V stats would also be recalculated after a battle on 100 making it possible there as well.
@happylittlepigs Sadly most likely impossible. The CPU of the New 3DS isn't nearly strong enough to handle the new features reliably which are heavily demanding.
With Greed Mode many more things can happen at the same time due to many more enemies spawning. Each of them have their seperate calculations in their AI, come with their own shadows, possibly lights and their own attacks. And that's not including your own new attacks and synergies.
Basically hundreds, if not thousands, of things have to calculated per second, that's just too much.
@Captain_Toad I can only hope they managed to bring out as much as they could without limiting you guys too much. My biggest fear hear is that they toned down the tear limit (like from 128 to 64 which is still overkill in most cases).
I don't have a Wii U and I can only speak from my PS4 experience which never crashed during normal gamplay. Only when I absolutely broke the game did it happen which was still much saner than anything possible in Afterbirth (again, 128 dynamic lasers).
But yeah, I really hope you guys can eventually enjoy as much of it as possible. But hey, Epic Fetus + Brimstone in Afterbirth isn't very demanding and ridiculously strong
Remember, it's not the graphics that are the problem with this expansion/DLC but the new synergies that potentially allow you to have 128 large dynamic lasers on the screen at the same time (that's the maximum on the PC too) which all have their own shadows/lights and behavior due to being dynamic. That puts a lot of stress on the CPU and it's not even factoring in the moves of the new Final Bosses.
How much less fun would this game be if you couldn't use those absurd synergies because the system doesn't run well?
Call me a fangirl if you want, I don't care, but please don't exaggerate everything like that.
Tyrone does react very immature sometimes so I can at least understand some contempt towards him.
It would be nice if this post would be edited to mention it's a DLC though as there seem to be a lot of misunderstandings.
@SKTTR It's been DLC on the PC so it should be the same here but considering nobody seems to point out it is DLC I can understand the confusion.
They haven't said anything about an Update yet but it likely will come soon enough for the reason you mentioned. And several others after release probably.
@SKTTR You need Rebirth as it is DLC to that game and if you liked that it's probably worth it as it adds a ton of additional content including a new mode and two new characters. The absurdity of the new synergies are my personal selling point.
We are in the third year since X&Y so a new generation announcement really wouldn't surprise me. Still crossing my fingers for the X&Y Special/Sequel Edition though.
Now I have absolutely no idea how powerful a Wii U or the Vita really are and I really don't care. I do imagine the Wii U could handle it given enough time but I do believe it runs on an entirely different system than the PS4 and Xbox One meaning it is significantly more difficult to port there. But I am sure they could and Tyrone is an ass.
The thing about Afterbirth is that is that it adds even more insanity to the base game. The new Greed Mode in particular is much more resource demanding than anything in the base game as a lot more enemies can be in the room at the same time than ever before. 20+ are very possible, each with their own AI, attacks and shadows. In addition to that you yourself can potentially fire hundreds of tears in just a few seconds which all have to be calculated separately which is obviously really demanding (they also have their own shadows). I am not exaggerating, hundreds of tears is literally possible as the DLC added even more options to gain highly powerful builds. Then there is stuff that could make them explode on contact or bounce away from enemies or split into more tears... or all of that at the same time.
Even stronger PCs can be brought down to their knees like that.
That's the result of six bombs splitting of into 2-4 bombs each which all explode and release 10 huge DYNAMIC lasers EACH. At minimum this results in 120 lasers each with their own unique lightning effect having to be calculated by the game at the same time which is just below the game's limit of 128 tears at the same time (on the PC I might add). That puts a LOT of strain on the system.
No cheats involved, it's a completely legit combo (although the numbers on the left are from a little mod but it doesn't affect the game in any way)
People here judge too quickly from what they see without really understanding how things work. You really need to play it yourself for a while or at least watch videos from highly overpowered (but still possible) runs to get an idea how it all works. Hundreds of different calculations have to run at the same time. Lights, Shadows, gore (which is already toned in the non-PC versions), Fire, water, etc. all would have to be reworked or even cut which we all know would result in even more angry outcries.
I myself am greatly disappointing we likely won't see a Vita release and I wish they would just get their asses in gear.
And the original game (not Rebirth) was done in flash so it run like ass even on high-end PCs quickly enough.
@Mr_Zurkon No it's not. This game is far more complex than it looks like. Dynamic elements such as lights, shadows, water, gore, pickups and even lasers (although that is a rare case). Every enemy has to be calculated individually, each and every tear they and you fire need to be calculated individually as long as they are on the screen. Some of the bosses have absurd bullet hell-like attacks and that's not even accounting your own you can have at that point. They need to make sure every one of the 343 items and their combinations work without breaking the game and even then some combos massively slow down even the PS4 in extreme cases (but all legit). No way hardware that's weaker than the Vita (which runs smoothly but doesn't need much to slow down) could handle this game well. Nobody wants anything cut and if they would have to bring it to normal 3DS they'd have no choice but to do so. Cutting dynamic environmental elements would be one way, and one they surely had considered, but that'd be only a temporary solution due to late level shenanigans where the game becomes really fun.
@SplatFan That's your opinion. I got almost 300 hours on the original and at least 100 in the remake (can't check time on the Vita). For me it awesome and one of my favorite games.
@JohnnyVanda You're welcome. I can certainly understand why the reliance of RNG can diminish the enjoyment of this title but it is always what makes it so replayable (for some). In the beginning there are barely any methods of manipulating RNG in your favor. Eventually you get the Dice items which allow you to re-roll items in various ways but you do need patience to get there (and actually pick them up in your run). The D6 is among the most popular among them as it allows to re-roll any item on a pedestal once every six rooms (can be reduced by items or pickups). It is unlocked by defeating a late game boss with Isaac which also permanently lets him start with said item but is also a random item for everybody else from that moment on. Getting there does take a while however. It is a game you spend a lot of time with after all.
@JohnnyVanda The most fun of this game comes from finding different items and discovering crazy combinations to kill enemies with. If you do not at least enjoy just killing enemies it's just not your game.
Even the base game has stuff like Quad Shots or Giant Tears (or even both if you are very lucky). The longer you play, the more options you have available such as new characters who start with different items and stats which can change the way you play. Playing well can award you with great items from Devil or Angel Rooms which can significantly improve your run.
Above all else however, there's RNG which determines almost everything in this game. You may get some crazy items in the first rooms or you may get non at all. It's just how it is.
Some of the possible item combos are so insane even the PS4 can't handle them without slowing down or even crashing. There's no way the normal 3DS could handle that well without cutting out a lot of more demanding items which would greatly reduce the fun of the game.
Just look at this https://youtu.be/hhgq5HNRxlE All that is, while unlikely, legitimately possible within the game. Remember that every tear, enemy, enemy tears, explosion, items, friendly flies and spiders, whatever has to be calculated individually. This is incredibly demanding on the RAM. Even less absurd combos already make the Vita slow down immensely, the normal 3DS would be even worse off.

Re: Reminder: The Shiny Yveltal Distribution is Now Available in North America
Well, I really hope Shiny Xerneas and Shiny Yveltal spread through Europe eventually, would be rather sad if I had to wait until they can be encountered as Shiny in a new game :/ (which would also be much more frustrating even with the Shiny Charm).

Re: The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth Coming To Wii U "In The Coming Months"
@MarioPhD Just your standard priced DLC. Price is 10.99$ on Steam and will be the same for the other consoles so it will likely be the same here.
I think it's more than worth it considering the new content can easily keep you busy for over 50 hours just doing everything, even more than that if you just want to have fun.
Re: Mythical Pokémon Jirachi is Up for Grabs in Current-Gen Releases
@Calllack In Gen VI EVs are calculated immediately for any stat but full effect is of course achieved only on Level 100. This fortunately allows you to EV train every Pokémon on 100.
In Gen V stats would also be recalculated after a battle on 100 making it possible there as well.
Re: The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth is Coming to Wii U
@happylittlepigs Sadly most likely impossible. The CPU of the New 3DS isn't nearly strong enough to handle the new features reliably which are heavily demanding.
With Greed Mode many more things can happen at the same time due to many more enemies spawning. Each of them have their seperate calculations in their AI, come with their own shadows, possibly lights and their own attacks. And that's not including your own new attacks and synergies.
Basically hundreds, if not thousands, of things have to calculated per second, that's just too much.
Re: The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth is Coming to Wii U
Re: The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth is Coming to Wii U
Tyrone never said the Wii U isn't capable of running this DLC folks >.> He only said the odds aren't too good with an admittedly absurd tweet.
They still tried though and posted a gif (actually vine, whoops) showing significant progress in form of a stress test shortly after said tweet but nobody cared because evil Tyrone said something stupid. https://twitter.com/tyronerodriguez/status/669329353126334464 That's just eight days after the apparently infamous article here had been posted. https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2015/11/poor_odds_of_the_binding_of_isaac_afterbirth_coming_to_wii_u_as_nicalis_says_its_not_much_more_powerful_than_a_ps_vita
Re: The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth is Coming to Wii U
@SKTTR It's been DLC on the PC so it should be the same here but considering nobody seems to point out it is DLC I can understand the confusion.
They haven't said anything about an Update yet but it likely will come soon enough for the reason you mentioned. And several others after release probably.
Re: The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth is Coming to Wii U
@SKTTR You need Rebirth as it is DLC to that game and if you liked that it's probably worth it as it adds a ton of additional content including a new mode and two new characters. The absurdity of the new synergies are my personal selling point.

They are making significant progress.
Re: Poor Odds of The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth Coming to Wii U as Nicalis Says It's "Not Much More Powerful Than a PS Vita"
Excuse me for posting my screenshot here but consider this: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=560310329
Re: Take a Look at the New 'Green Blob' Pokémon
It looks... bizarre but I always look forward to any Pokémon announcements.
Re: The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth Launches on the New 3DS and Wii U on 23rd July in North America
Re: The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth Launches on the New 3DS and Wii U on 23rd July in North America
@SplatFan That's your opinion. I got almost 300 hours on the original and at least 100 in the remake (can't check time on the Vita). For me it awesome and one of my favorite games.
Re: The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth Launches on the New 3DS and Wii U on 23rd July in North America
@JohnnyVanda You're welcome.
Re: The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth Launches on the New 3DS and Wii U on 23rd July in North America
Re: The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth Pricing and Features Outlined by Nicalis
Some of the possible item combos are so insane even the PS4 can't handle them without slowing down or even crashing. There's no way the normal 3DS could handle that well without cutting out a lot of more demanding items which would greatly reduce the fun of the game.
Just look at this https://youtu.be/hhgq5HNRxlE
All that is, while unlikely, legitimately possible within the game.
Remember that every tear, enemy, enemy tears, explosion, items, friendly flies and spiders, whatever has to be calculated individually. This is incredibly demanding on the RAM.
Even less absurd combos already make the Vita slow down immensely, the normal 3DS would be even worse off.

@LouisXIV That's pretty obvious indeed.
