Re: Top 100 Nintendo Games, As Chosen By Nintendo Life & IGN

Warlenos

This is a fun list to read through. I kept wondering how I would even begin to arrange my Top 100. I don’t think I could really rank them. My Top 20 would just all be basically tied for 1st. Simply some of the best games ever. With that said I’ve been whispering for years when anyone would ask what my favorite game is “The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds.” It takes the best game that held its ground for a couple of decades (A Link To the Past) and improves everything. Pure Nintendo magic, and must be played with headphones on a 3DS (XL with IPS screens preferably). I also will often say my favorite game ever is Pikmin 3, especially with all the extra co-op and content added in the Deluxe release. The other 98 games for me: impossible to easily come up with a ranking. Super Mario World was the best [video game] investment I made as a kid though (my best purchase being my first pair of waterproof hiking boots). Thanks for the fun read!

@the_beaver “@Warlenos They could also add couch coop for the main game, like they did with Pikmin 3 Deluxe. That would be fantastic!”
That would indeed be fantastic! I’m crossing my fingers for couch coop in the main game. Local wireless coop would also be amazing in the main game, and for an added mission mode. I hope Nintendo latches on to your idea and gives Pikmin 4 “Deluxe” the Pikmin 3 treatment!

Re: Surprise! Pikmin 4 Is Getting A Free Content Update On Switch Next Month

Warlenos

Hopefully a Switch 2 upgrade with expanded multiplayer (especially Mission Mode from Pikmin 3) won’t be far behind. Pikmin 4 is an amazing single player adventure, but they almost entirely left out any sort of multiplayer fun. I’m crossing my fingers that Nintendo is well aware of that and will use it to sell the Switch 2 “Pikmin 4 Deluxe + Cooperative Multiplayer”. Pikmin 3 Mission Mode and Bingo Battle are the funnest game modes in a video game.

Re: ICYMI: Switch 2 Mouse Mode Is Supported In Super Mario Galaxy 1 + 2, But There's A Catch

Warlenos

@charliecarrot This is a really great comment. I like the thought of the primary gamer (who has already played through the Mario Galaxy games, possibly even multiple times) keeping someone new to the series company and offering some assistance. It can be just as fun to watch and assist a new player that is discovering games like this as it is to re-play them. Thanks for the imaginative perspective it was great!

Re: Talking Point: Are You Ghosting Switch 1 To Save Yourself For Switch 2?

Warlenos

Oddly enough I subconsciously put my Nintendo Switch 1 on hold (even though I have plenty of games left to play on it). In the meantime I re-discovered the 3DS, almost feeling as if I got my hands on a brand new system. Since the announcement of the Switch 2 I have been mainly playing Wario Ware Gold and having the time of my life. It has been a very fun re-awakening of the great little portable 3DS system and a highly entertaining game. Once Wario Ware clicks it becomes incredibly fun, and I'm pretty stunned by how near-perfect of a Wario game Wario Ware Gold is.

Re: Opinion: Oh No, I'm Not A Fan Of Switch 2's Mouse Mode At All

Warlenos

@Darkri74345 Good reply. I wouldn't mind a little more balance to reporting from Nintendolife, especially with an article this long and overly drawn out. "I've never used mouse and keyboard and I don't like mouse mode." Wow, I think we could have guessed that. Mouse controls can be awesome once you spend an afterenoon adjusting. I assume Nintendo will release a more comfortable and ergonomic mouse (Mario Paint came with one) and I'm hoping any bluetooth mouse might connect to Switch 2. If I were going to give Nintendo a great idea it would be "Wario Paint" where you create your own Warioware games and it comes packed in with a comfortable mouse.

Re: Random: New Video Highlights 120FPS Gameplay On Modded Switch

Warlenos

@BenAV Pinball is the one game where 90+ framerates are clearly different. It makes a huge difference in Pinball FX3 on PC. Other games like you mentioned, it can be difficult to tell. I hope the Switch 2 will allow at least 90 FPS and maybe higher. The Steam Deck will do 90 FPS, and the Legion Go 144 FPS. Nintendo will have to include the correct screen for higher handheld framerates. Hopefully at the very least it will have 90-120 FPS when docked to a display with a high refresh rate.

Re: Opinion: We Need More Couch Co-op RPGs

Warlenos

@Kazman2007 Diablo 3 with local wireless co-op on Switch is the way to play. You can open your gear menu all you want. It requires multiple Switches but is the best co-op experience out there.

Re: Capcom's Best-Selling Mega Man Game Reaches Another Sales Milestone

Warlenos

@Anti-Matter I completely agree with you! Mega Man Powered Up from the PSP is fantastic, as is the remixed music. My most wished for game would be Mega Man Powered Up 2. Can you imagine those robots and that amazing soundtrack being reimagined. Crash Man? One of the greatest video game songs ever composed.

Re: Best Space And Sci-Fi Games On The Nintendo Switch

Warlenos

Where is Pikmin? Nothing cozier in all of gaming than flying up into space at the end of each day in Pikmin 3 with your onion. And it is fun to think of this mysterious planet you're stranded on as being similar to earth, but not actually earth. In fact the continents clearly aren't earth when you view the maps. Very much a sci-if space adventure to me, and one of my favorites.
Too bad Mass Effect 1-3 never made it to the Switch. Mass Effect 3 on Wii U was the closest we ever got.

Re: Feature: Pikmin Tier List - Which Pikmin Type Is The Best?

Warlenos

I was ranking my favorite Pikmin in my mind on a walk the other day. My preferences vary from one week to the next but right now:
1. Rock. Love watching them crash in to things, or just sit around on the ground.
2. Yellow. Those ears.
3. Purple. They seem so nice, especially in the short movies. Plus they have hair and really thud.
4. Ice. I've grown very fond of these clinging to Oatchi and freezing enemies. Plus I like their little voices.
5. Winged. I know they are weaker, but I spray them with spicy sauce and attack enemies with a giant swarm of 70 or so Winged Pikmin and they are very satisfying.
6. Glow. I just like glow in the dark things. And I recently started throwing seeds in caves and these Pikmin are the ultimate functionally.
7. Red. I love red, but they are so common that I don't get as attached to them. Fierce fighters though.
8. White. White is one of my favorite, but they always seem so rare that I don't utilize them very much. I love their personality in the Pikmin shorts.
9. Blue. I probably use them the least, but boy when you need them they are awesome. They generally blow the doors open once you finally get them. I remember waiting forever to cross water in Pikmin 3 and then when I finally found the blue onion tucked away the game really opened up. I love blue pikmin for that.

Well, that is where things stand for me right now. I wish I could have some real life Pikmin to feed fruits and pellets to and let them cozy up in onions throughout my house. Pikmin are my favorite!

Re: Best Pikmin Games

Warlenos

Perhaps my favorite game series. I love Pikmin. Here are my favorites:

#1 Pikmin 3. This is easily my favorite. I've never had more fun with a video game than Mission Mode in Pikmin 3. Solo or playing couch co-op, this is as fun as gaming gets.

#2 Pikmin 4 is a perfected solo adventure. It looks great, plays well, and is huge. I love the lore, the charm, the humor, and most of all the Pikmin clinging to Oatchi. What a great game. I'm really crossing my fingers we will get some Mission Mode DLC to bring Pikmin 4 to the same stellar level as Pikmin 3. I hope like crazy Nintendo introduces Mission Mode co-op with Local Wireless play, that would be a dream come true, each player having an entire screen all to themselves as both players run around playing either Collect Treasure of Battle Enemies.

#3 Pikmin 2. For one thing, Purple Pikmin and White Pikmin are fantastic. Otherwise this game is just a blast. If only they'd patched in lock-on targeting. It is difficult to live without once getting it nearly perfected in Pikmin 3. Also in Pikmin 2 I find challenge mode really fun once you find out how to unlock it. It gives Pikmin 2 the 2nd highest replayability after Pikmin 3's mission mode.

#4 Pikmin. A brilliant creation that remains fun to this day. I love having it on the Switch with the other 3 games. And the stripped down challenge mode of "grow as many Pikmin as you can in each of the worlds" is actually pretty entrancing.

#5 Hey Pikmin is on my 3DS. I've played it a decent amount and haven't yet finished it, but I love getting Amiibo statues and reading the hilarious text about them.

What a great franchise. My favorite Pikmin breeds would be Rock and Yellow, but that preference varies from day to day.

If you haven't tried it, play Mission Mode in Pikmin 3. You will get hooked improving from bronze to silver to gold to platinum and then knowing, just knowing you can do a little better and shave a few minutes or seconds off your best time to set a new high score. Extremely fun, especially in co-op mode.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp?

Warlenos

@AtlanteanMan
It might not have as much depth as you've outlined, but check out the recently funded Kickstarter for "Warside." It looks like development is off to a great start. I only wish they would add on a highly replayable mode similar to Into the Breach. I bet you could give the developers some other really great ideas!
