Funny how people who don't care about power will be first in line for the Switch Pro. They also aren't buying 2010 iPhones or non HD TVs. The sacrifices made to make this system portable aren't worth it to me. I tried playing Zelda as a handheld, but I really don't like playing that way. It was awkward (maybe because I've played 80 hrs with the pro controller). More than that, I'd rather see Zelda on the big screen.
It'd be nice to see Nintendo return to form for E3. I used to be more excited about Nintendo's E3 than the others.
I'd love to see Metroid but if i remember correctly, it sounded like they were still thinking of a way to bring Metroid back (ie down the road a few years).
I'd like to see a direct follow up with this engine so that we don't have to wait 5 years (Like Majora's). For the next step in the series, I'll leave it up to Nintendo. BOTW was a home run.
I will play a remastered game if it was really special to me. I'm just wondering who has time to replay all these old games? For those who never played, it might be good. I don't have time to get through all the new games I want to play.
@Laxeybobby
That's great for you and me. Zelda is all I'm playing currently. But there has to be a variety of quality games for consumers. What if a FIFA fan says all he is playing is FIFA so there's no need to release anything else?
@Stubi Yeah, it's crazy Nintendo is in the same boat again. 3rd parties aren't going to help either...at best will be some OK ports. But even if 3rd parties get interested, it will be years before we see an original title.
Once most buy Zelda, there's nothing really to buy. Yes...people here will buy some of those games....but these titles don't compete with the rest of the market. Mario Kart will see nice initial sales, but it's not a new title. I think that if you buy a Switch, you have already accepted game droughts.
I have yet to use my Switch as portable. I don't really see many adults playing portable game systems. I see kids at restaurants etc playing their 3DS. I've taken my 3DS on planes, but I don't think I've seen another adult playing one at the the airport or on the plane. All the sacrifices made to the home console portions of Switch don't really benefit me.
Nintendo releases way too many sub par games these days. That Nintendo seal used to mean something. Now you can't blindly go out and buy a game like Mario Party.
Frame rate is a huge issue. Zelda BOTW might be the best game I've ever played. But the one thing that takes me out of the game is when the frame rate sputters in certain situations. BOTW would be even better on PS4 or XboxOne.
Again...unless you really really want to play something on the go...there's no reason to buy a Switch port of anything. I mean...Setsuna has a worse frame rate on Switch.
@Alshain01 Yeah, I was thinking maybe they should have made some sacrifices on the console part of Switch to make it more portable. Many here say power doesn't matter to them.
Battery life of 2.5 hrs makes me not want to bother carrying it on a flight. I'll use half of that waiting to board....then it dies mid flight. Like has been said....they are trying to do both worlds and both suffer. My Switch will be at home 99% of the time....so I'm just buying a new WiiU Pro that plays new exclusives.
@Lord I've accepted that I buy Nintendo systems for the few Nintendo exclusives...and even then I'm going to be selective. They are OK with games that are 7s. Games like Star Fox, Mario Party etc don't compete with top tier games.
I played it on WiiU and liked it. I'm not big into the lego games, but this was done really well. The load times were beyond awful though.
Charging 59.99 is ridiculous. I wouldn't encourage companies to charge full price for old games.
Besides the lack of games, the next biggest problem for the Switch is the 2.5 hrs of battery. The ONLY reason to buy this version is to have a portable Skyrim....a game that you can spend hundreds of hours in. But you can only play 2.5 hrs at a time....
For me, it's an extremely disappointing list. But I'm excited about the possibilities of a new Nintendo system. I'll be playing Zelda after midnight launch. I'd have a tough time recommending Switch right now except for kool aid drinkers.
1-2 Switch will sell a decent amount because there isn't much else to buy. It's not a pack in because Nintendo doesn't have anything else to sell. If you have a PS4, you'll be playing Zero Dawn Horizon, Nioh, Resident Evil etc along with Zelda. If 1-2 Switch was a pack in, I'd check it out once or twice and then move on to games that deserve my attention.
@kobashi100
It is cheap...for Nintendo. Even physical copy buyers will eventually fill up the 32gb with DLCs etc, they might as well included nothing and took the price down a bit. Then we could buy the card we wanted.
It's always going to come down to how much you are going to be playing games in portable mode. If you will mostly play at home, you aren't going to choose the Switch version of anything.
@YeshaYahu5417
I'm not going to buy late inferior ports so I don't need them.
But many consider Nintendo's pipeline to be sparse. Some are happy with it..which is fine. But many are concerned based on Nintendo's past.
Nintendo hasn't exactly been leading creativity lately. Smash Bros WiiU was an HD deluxe version of the Wii game. Super Mario Bros U was more of the same. IMO, MK8 was the only game to take things to the next level. I would say Nintendo is behind many 3rd parties in creativity (when I used to see them as leaders).
@Shellcore I think Nintendo needs to break with their policy of not talking about games too early. Nintendo titles are going to carry this system, so let's hear their plan into next year. They don't want to disappoint gamers when games are delayed...but that happens every time anyway.
If there's going to be an article for every game that the Switch can't handle, then these writers won't have time to do anything else.
My problem isn't about specific games that are going to skip the Switch. My question is what does the Switch have to offer instead? Is a port of a 3 year old MK8 Nintendo's answer?
By the time Developers decide to make something for Switch, it will be a couple years down the road before we see it.
I'm excited about Zelda, but I know my Switch will start collecting dust until Mario comes out. There are just too many promising games coming out for the other systems.
@UK-Nintendo I get it. I have games I haven't even played. I will find time for certain games like big Nintendo titles. The only time I'll take the Switch out of my home is on plane trips. And then the battery lasts 2.5 hrs for big titles... so that may discourage even that. I don't want to haul it around just so it dies mid flight.
@Marshi
I agree that portability and Nintendo games are the reason to buy Switch.
Great for those who play on the go a lot. Some...like me... don't care about portability. I want to play Zelda on my big TV. I might take it out of the house a couple times a year. I'm pretty much paying $300 for a new WiiU so I can play a few Nintendo games.
@Smug43 I'm more concerned about content, and there are only two games I want this year on Switch (so far). I've accepted that the Switch will have a few great Nintendo games on it. If there are ports, they will be inferior and unless you must have them on the go, you will probably buy the PS4/XboxOne version. And all the talk about Switch upgrading... it will still be years behind the other systems.
@Yasume I love MK8. But I'm not buying the same game over again at full price without new tracks. I'm not encouraging Nintendo to resell me the WiiU library.
Specific titles not appearing on the Switch isn't a big deal if the Switch has a good lineup. Instead of For Honor, you can play (_____) on Switch. Switch needs killer titles and I personally don't see enough in the near future. 3rd parties are in the wait and see mode. Yes, the console is just launching. But this is the market Nintendo chose to enter. I'm getting the Switch, but I can't recommend it to anybody I know just yet.
Anybody buying Switch knows 3rd party support will be weak. Even if 3rd parties jump on board, any original title is a couple years down the road. At best there will be some inferior ports that are released long after the PS4/XboxOne version.

IGN is giving it a 6.7 in an early review. It's a portable system that you don't really want to take anywhere due to it's size and poor battery.

Nintendo has trouble supporting two systems with enough games (what single company wouldn't). Make traditional DS games for Switch at lower price.
