I don’t think Metroid or Bayonetta will make it, but those would be top of my list. Maybe Yoshi. Besides that, it’s Port-land. There will be some unannounced game for the holidays. If not, I’ll but original games on other systems instead of ports.
It’s like an SNL skit of a poor kids VR. I’m sure young kids will like it though. I can’t see the cardboard surviving a few days, and the games are very gimmicky. Who wants cardboard junk laying around their house?
It's a fun game....but I played it a year ago. There are too many new games to play than to revisit an inferior version. I hope it sells well, but if it doesn't it's not because nobody wants a mature shooter on the Switch.
I'm pretty excited bout it. Nintendo has spent a lot of time making games that really aren't for me. Solid games like Arms, Splatoon and Fire Emblem just aren't for me. I'm glad people like them, but Nintendo can do those AND Metroid.
@Ralek85
100% agree. One guy was calling this setup "brilliant". It's OK to call Nintendo out when they make bad decisions. This is a bad decision. While Nintendo doesn't have games like Destiny where team communication is essential, it still would be fun to talk to friends while playing Mario Kart etc. But Nintendo is about bringing people together to play. Making online games you can play with your friends should be a no brainer. They should be leading the charge on community based games. You don't have to talk to strangers. If a game requires a team and you have no friends, you can easily recruit a team on a message board....just put out what you're looking for in a group (age, times you like to play, whether you are laid back or serious).
@cfgk24 PS4 already alerts you when your friends start a chat party....without looking at your phone. If you are away, they can msg you by the PS app or game specific app.
@cfgk24
Well a game using an app to msg friends and setup games is nothing new. Destiny has been doing it for years. There's a msg board to sign up for raids etc.
Have you used PS chat? You may like Nintendo's approach...which is fine. It's not brilliant tho.
I'm going to download but not for chat. Hopefully it's useful for something. I was playing Destiny 2 beta last night with friends using my PS Gold Headset. There's just no way I'll bother using Nintendo's Frankenstein chat.
@SecondServing
Well out of the first 25 reviews, this is the highest by far. Nintendo fans are going to score everything Nintendo higher...which is fine. Just like Sony fans will do the same. You just have to know where the review is coming from.
Overall, the average is looking like the lower 8s.
And for those who have friends and can make friends, the voice chat option sucks.
Not even going to bother if I have to use my phone to chat. I like the app's ability to schedule and send messages. It's nothing new as games like Destiny already do this.
I don't enjoy chatting with strangers. Sometimes it's necessary to communicate. It's great with friends though. Nintendo hasn't really created a gaming experience like a Raid in Destiny. As much Nintendo talks about bringing people together to play, they sure make it difficult.
I hadn't heard of this game before. Might check it out. If this site is going to post an article for every game the Switch can't handle, 99% of the articles here will be about that.
I was very disappointed that the Switch wasn't on the level of systems released in 2013. But you buy a Switch for the 1-2 great games Nintendo will release a year. I accepted that when I bought it.
While the Wii was king of shovelware, the Switch is becoming king of games you've already played.
You should really have another system for other games (I know....AAA titles like The Witcher are trash to "Nintendo only" fans).
For me, it's about Nintendo's (few) but great games. I'd be happy playing these on PS4, so it's not really about the device. For me, the pro-controller is essential, and it's not included. I'm not a fan of the joy cons unless it's something like a SwitchSports. There's alot that can be done with the joy cons, but Nintendo isn't really showing how they are a must have. The portability isn't a selling factor at all for me. But I need the Switch to play Mario Odyssey and Metroid Prime 4. It'd be nice for some big third party titles to be on Switch, but I guess many Nintendo fans call these titles trash (unless they are on the Switch too).
@NEStalgia I don't buy 3rd party games for Nintendo systems because I have a PS4 and XboxOne. Why would I pay for an inferior version? 99% of the time I'm playing at home, so portability isn't that much of a factor. If a game was slightly better for the Switch, I would buy the Switch version. On top of that, Nintendo's online is about a decade behind the times. As much as I love Nintendo, I'm not using my phone to play with my friends online. Sure, some fans will buy into whatever Nintendo does (Nintendo could make them a dog crap sandwich and they would say it's great).
As far as Mario Odyssey, I'm sure Nintendo will do an incredible job and get the most out of the hardware. When the specs for Switch was released, we all knew it wasn't on par with the current systems. It is what it is.
Finally. Games like Fire Emblem, Arms etc just aren't my type of game. I'm a little concerned we won't see Metroid 4 for another couple of years. But Nintendo usually doesn't reveal a title unless they have a solid direction for the game.
@Tetsuro There's detection issues. Matchmaking was a nightmare until Tuesday. It has run pretty smooth the last couple of days. But this is a game made by a few people. There's going to be issues.
@Tetsuro Well, you can't review a game based on a demo. Play it for a long period of time and see if it holds up. The majority of reviewers are giving it in the 7s. Doesn't mean somebody is wrong if it's a 9 to them personally. But the general consensus is that it's a high 7. Certain types of games appeal to certain people, so they will like it more. To me, this is a game to play a few times and never go back. But I'm having a blast playing Friday the 13th right now. It has tons of bugs, it's not the greatest looking or playing game. But to me, it's great.
The Switch isn't a main console for me. Online is many years behind the others. The number and type of games is very small. My Switch will be used for the one or two great Nintendo games a year. Zelda was awesome, but my Switch is collecting dust now like the WiiU.
@Priceless_Spork That's true. They would sell more of these games with the NES Classic. But again, they only need to sell a fraction of these games on the eShop to make more money.
@Priceless_Spork Because their consoles will make them money. They will also make money from 3rd parties for hosting their games. With the NES Classic, it's $2 per game....without the cost of manufacturing the console. They can sell these games for 4.99 each (or whatever) and not pay manufacturing costs. And you must buy their flagship console to download them. Gaming PCs are expensive for some....and that's not Nintendo's fan base. They also like to control how you play their games.
They maximize profits like nobody else. They like their fans...but they like money more (like most companies). The NES Classic has too much negative cost compared to the eShop. A few games downloaded will make more profit than selling a system.
@Alikan Absolutely. The negative costs for selling these games on virtual console is almost nothing. Why pay production costs of the mini system and deplete some potential buyers of the virtual console? It's all bout the money. They can sell many fewer games on virtual console and still make more money.
Nothing that I want really, but I'm hoping those games come at E3. ARMS looks like an arcade game but I don't think I'd use my quarters on it. I guess there's an audience for it....so I hope they like it. I didn't expect much from this Nintendo Direct with E3 around the corner.
I can't see myself playing ARMS more than a few times. Not sure about Splatoon. The first was a good game but there's other stuff out there I'd rather play.
I'm not encouraging companies to release 3 year old games with minimal new content at full price. I don't really enjoy playing the Switch in portable mode....feels awkward.....so that's not a selling point for this game for me.

Bare minimum and maximum sales. Must be nice to be Nintendo these days.
Re: Capcom Explains (Again) Why Monster Hunter World Isn't Coming To Switch
This is one game I'd consider getting on the Switch over PS4 if released at same time. But I'm not going to replay a port down the road on the Switch.

There's no need for discussion. Sony and Microsoft have already done the work for Nintendo.
