@SwitchForce They did push back the physical copies until early next year, but have given every physical backer a digital code as well (can be for any platform regardless of which platform you pledged for physical on) so that we wouldn't have to wait until then to play.
Still have my Metroid Prime Trilogy disc...I remember buying that and Arkham Asylum (for PS 3) together from a Toys R Us in Austin. Don't know whatever happened to AA disc, but I'll keep the MPT disc (and my Wii) forever.
I just started playing the trilogy through Primehack on the Steam Deck (allows modern FPS controls and gyro aiming) and it is great, but playing these games with a wiimote is still my favorite way to play them.
Psyched that Immortals may be getting a follow-up! I'm sure it is a minority opinion, but I actually enjoyed the first one much more than BOTW. I never really got on with the survival/crafting elements of BOTW and found that Immortals kept a lot of what I wanted (dense world with lots of puzzles, traversal challenges, etc.), but had a combat and art style that resonated more with me. Certainly, BOTW was better as a work of art, but I just found Immortals more fun.
It is also a great game for exploring varying cultures and religious traditions. Polynesian will be interesting (if rumor is correct).
While not surprising, this is disappointing to hear. This game should check almost no boxes for me...I don't like life sims, F2P or early access. However, the fact that the other half of the game is inspired by adventure games and (reportedly) has a emphasis on exploration and puzzles has drawn me to this. The Disney world is something of a guilty pleasure for me...They typify the monopolistic, cynical mega-corporation, but I truly love a lot of the content they produce.
Hopefully, they'll stick to their statements that there will be no time-gating, P2W or ways to use real money to advance gameplay. Though even if that remains technically true, your post shows that there are ways to make even "you can only by cosmetics" horrible. Time will tell, I guess.
I think these are a great fit for the Switch and have been hoping for them to appear on the platform. Would have been more psyched prior to putting a Deck on reserve, but still grat games for a portable platform.
Just got to the desert in Skyward Sword...have found a lot of it's puzzles and how much use you get out of each new tool really satisfying. Also, working my way through Alwa's Legacy...fun Metroidvania with an emphasis on puzzles and simple platforming. Planning on getting around to finishing up Jedi: Fallen Order soon.
Looks a bit janky, but is pre-alpha footage so ok giving it the benefit of the doubt. Love the idea of an alternate view point of events and am very into stealth games so will have fingers crossed it turns out well.
I've been playing the Marvel Champions LCG since launch and that is effectively a turn-based tactical combat game so I could see this working too. Lotsa different powers and play-styles of the heroes seem like it could make a cool match for an x-com style game...I'd be up for it for sure.
Hyped is probably too strong a word, but I am excited to see what gets announced.
Personal wishlist...Zelda 35th Anniversary Collection, Metroid Prime Trilogy, BOTW 2, new DK game, new Kirby game, Genshin Impact on Switch, Captain Toad 2, Mass Effect Trilogy announcement.
Woohoo!! Pending performance reviews, I will be grabbing this and Skyward Sword this summer. Lots of good memories of playing THPS 2 back on the original PS.
Having played most of the 2D Zeldas over the years (OG Zelda, LttP, LA remake and almost done with LBW) I have to say that Minish Cap remains my favorite of all of them and the only one I've played through multiple times....really fun game! It is funny...I'd really love a remake/update of the Oracle games, but would really like MC to just be re-released pretty much as-is.
@nukatha Agreed! I enjoyed Link's Awakening, but am playing Link Between Worlds right now and prefer the undated LttP vibe over the shiny, living toy look of LA.
It would be a great part of a Zelda 35th strategy to announce that these were getting remade and would be released on a single cart and THEN announce that the next new 2D Zelda title would be the abandoned, original 3rd part of the series.
I think Switch version of this would sell like crazy. Especially if totally on cart...though that would be doubtful from EA. I think we will eventually see it and have 2 theories on a delay...
1) They are really hoping that folks will be impatient and unsure if it will make it to Switch so they'll buy it on another platform and then be tempted to double dip when it makes it to the Switch.
2) The development for Switch and the vision they have for the more powerful platforms it different enough that they figure it would be easiest to complete development for the other platforms and then have one of the Switch port specialist studios do a conversion.
@Donutman it is interesting that the offline, solo version of an MMO is a negative for you. I've always thought it would be a cool idea for MMOs near the end of their life cycles to release an offline, stand-alone version that you could play like a massive, regular RPG. Of course, to do it well the devs might have to retune a fair bit of the content to be solo friendly, but, man it would be really cool to have some of the big MMOs to just run around and quest in at your leisure... Especially on a platform like the Switch. Pick it up, knock out a coupe quests in Azeroth, Tamriel or Eberon, leave it in standby, come back when you have a few minutes. Getting to explore those world's in that fashion would be great.
Of course, playing big games in small chunks one of my favorite strengths of the Switch. Skyrim, BOTW, Immortals, Crosscode, Witcher and, now, Amalur are all great fits for Switch.
Sounds like a fair review, but I grabbed it all the same. I really enjoy the classic Zelda gameplay loop and am willing to put up with the downsides to get my exploring, puzzle-solving, dungeoneering fix.
@Roam85 You are right! Crosscode is sooo good, but can be pretty challenging and LONG!! I'm almost 50 hrs in and just got to Saphire Ridge. Great game, but has been one I've occasionally had to step away from for a few days from time to time (mostly to take a short break from a particularly difficult puzzle room). I don't think that I've ever played a game where the puzzles weren't just somewhat difficult to figure out but could be also pretty difficult to execute.
I've had my eye on this for a while and am glad to see it get a good review...Once I finish Crosscode, this and Phoenotopia are pretty near the top of my list to play next.
@Trialus Got a qualified 1 out of 4 at least...Immortals not a classic Zelda style (more open world vs big dungeons), but does look really fun so I'll take it.
Wish list: -some Switch footage of Skywalker Saga and Immortals -ME Trilogy announcement (surprise! It's all on the cart!!) -THPS remake announced for Switch -Kingdoms of Amalur remake coming to Switch -prev rumored Tomb Raider Collection announcement -release dates for Baldo, Axiom Verge 2 and Oceanhorn 2
Pretty unrealistic wishlist, but it is fun to dream...
Dream list: -Immortals turns out be a classic zelda-style game and looks great -New Rayman game announced -PoP collection confirmed -Splinter Cell collection for Switch announced...And a new Splinter Cell game announced.
I've been excited about this game since it was originally announced as the thought of a Zelda-style game in a classic mythological setting is right up my alley.
If it turns out good, I'd kinda like to see "Immortals" take off as its own franchise... applying the Zelda gameplay loop (explore/traverse/puzzle/fight, get new tool or power, repeat) to different mythological traditions... Aztec, Norse, Slavic, Japanese and others would all be cool settings.
Also... fingers crossed the switch version runs well and looks good!
I love stealth, platforming, and exploration so this seems right up my alley. It also seems to be taking some cues from the Styx games which I quite enjoyed. Was keeping this on my radar already, but would especially love to play it on the Switch.
Zelda "clone" statements definitely seem apt (true for the first Oceanhorn game as well). However, Zelda-style action-adventure games are easily my favorite genre, so I'm in (unless the performance is atrocious).
I agree, but it seems more likely that we'll get remasters/remakes of the two cult classics rather than a made from scratch sequel to the lowest selling and poorest received entry into the franchise....I been wrong before though.
Not on the list, but would really love a return to Golden Sun... whether it got the full Spyro or Mana style remake or just a bit of up-rezzing ,it would be cool to have the first 2 games combined together.
1) 64 + Sunshine (significant touch ups....maybe in Odyssey engine?) 2) Galaxy 1 +2 (just up-rezzed and controls modified to allow controller only play...would love if they kept the old scheme as an option) 3) 3D Land + World (likely they just ignore Land and give a World port, but would be nice to get both in a single package)
dreams: 2D Mario collection (minor changes only, but a cart full of most of the mainline 2D)
RPG collections (Paper games should be relatively easy, but M+L games could present some difficulty as most were DS so come re-engineering of certain sequences/controls would be needed).
Remakes/remasters: MP Trilogy, Twilight Princess, Oracle games getting same treatment as Link's Awakening, Arkham Collection, Mass Effect Trilogy, Project Rainfall games.
Indies: Indivisible, Crosscode release date, Heart Forth Alicia, Outer Wilds, Journey to the Savage Planet, Supraland 2, Witchbrook, Sunless Seas/Skies, Baldo, Tower of Time
3rd Party (AAA): Lego Star Wars: Skywalker Saga, Gods and Monsters, Outer Worlds release date,
This was one of the Project Rainfall games for the Wii wasn't it? Would love to see Last Story and Pandora's Tower make it to the Switch as well, thought it seems like they were much less successful/popular than XBC.
Personal Wishlist: Release dates/more info for Crosscode, Inmost, Tower of Time, Baldo, Indivisible, Sunless Skies/Seas, Dark Crystal and La Mulana 1 + 2.
An announcement that Outer Wilds is coming to Switch!!

Definitely in for Crosscode (though considering waiting for the physical) and will likely pick up Origami King as well (though will wait for reviews).
Kinda hoping that Alwa's Legacy and Baldo end up with July release dates as well.

Heart Forth Alicia, Outer Wilds, Journey to the Savage Planet, Supraland 2, Witchbrook, Sunless Seas/Skies, Baldo, Tower of Time
3rd Party (AAA):
Lego Star Wars: Skywalker Saga, Gods and Monsters, Outer Worlds release date,

Whew!! That got wordy...
