Cool. I should be safe with my Werewolves of the Dark Arts thing, then. :3 I've always wondered, since I use a few roles from other versions of the game. I know the base game is open source, but when you reuse some of the crazier roles from other people's stuff, it gets tricky.
While I won't be bothered by the OCCASIONAL article of this sort, I don't think this makes for good NL material. If they offer new games, then maybe, but Miitomo outfits are about as far removed from actual gaming as Nintendo gets. So try not to spam us RSS feed folks with articles like this, okay?
Oh, and thank you for adjusting the top menu overlay on scrolling up. The extra delay makes browsing far more tolerable. My suggestion was going to be to place it on the bottom but I'm okay with the change that was made.
Lots of cool wolves. But I have to wonder if it was truly too hard or not. I've played some hard games before that left me annoyed, like Dark Witch or something from the eShop. I can't see this game being hard in that way.
Often, games that are hard are hard because A) they have bad controls / game systems that make control awkward, B) they have strictly obtuse game mechanics that aren't intuitive, or C) they are overtuned to where players can make irreparable mistakes with their game data.
It's rare to have a game that's hard from a strictly skill standpoint where the players have a chance to overcome it with practice. As a note, I place Dark Witch in category A. The game was just unpunishingly hard due to the awkwardness of the systems. It wasn't as elegant as a bullet hell game, and certainly didn't have the learning curve ability of something like Undertale.
@Yorumi He really does seem to hate story depth. Krystal never got any sort of backstory outside the instruction booklet and SFA opening and they could have done SO much with that if they wanted to.
Though this intro sparked a new origin theory possibility: James and the original Star Fox are the ones that rescued her, and Andross blew up her planet while he was in custody of her by orders of her royal family making her the only one left. Though it's hard to move from that potential to her position of 'searching for answers' in SFA, but at least it would be a deeper reason for her to be interested in Fox than damsel-in-distress mode.
@MitchVogel Reasons other people here have stated. I prefer to do other things with my audio, I'm a quick reader so text is more effective, and I'm a PC user not a mobile user.
Speaking of PC vs mobile, I reallllly dislike the new website when it comes to the PC. That instant-appear bar makes speed reading a hassle (scroll down too far, scroll up, then scroll up one more click, then scroll down one more click to make it go away), the images are typically invasive by being so natively large and fully interrupting the article versus the old style of thumbnails you click, AND on a 1080 resolution monitor there's a large amount of dead space that has just made articles here less and less enjoyable.
The transition from text to video is just making it worse for me.
(And really, am I the only one who understand the function of the home key on the keyboard? I don't need this silly pop-up navbar appearing when I scroll upwards. I know where to find that information and if I need it, I will hit 'home' and bring myself to the top of the webpage.)
Edit: Oh, and as an example of something I stumbled on recently. There was an interview involving some Zootopia crew, and the entire thing was transcripted. (Not implying every video needs a transcript even if it would sometimes be nice.) I read through the transcript while multi-tasking, at around half the time of the actual audio interview. I was really thankful that the site had that transcript, as that's the way I prefer to take in most news. Sometimes videos are nice but usually I have other stuff to do.
Articles around here are getting short and being replaced by videos. I don't want to become the perpetual complainer but I dislike getting my news through video footage. Please continue to give text versions of the fun stuff. -_-
Even with cheats (non-max-stat stuff) this game takes absolutely forever to 100%. I'm two-to-four dungeons from finishing it up with 100 hours of gameplay. I hate to see the total gameplay time for a legit user on this game who 100%'d it. Yikes.
Would be nice if the NX exists alongside the 3DS and WiiU as the 'mature Nintendo' console for adult gamers. I admit to feeling frustration when going into a store and seeing all the WiiU games, thinking to myself 'jeez this is such a kiddie looking console, no wonder people don't take it seriously.'
Awesome. Still think she doesn't look right in the space suit, but I know that times have changed and "Tribal" isn't appropriate in games anymore. They could totally give her a more "Star Fox" uniform if they weren't being sexist though.
Ooooh, Braixen! I suck at fighters, but I have a friend who I would love to play this game with. She loves Suicuine and Mewtwo. I would love to play as Braixen and Lucario. :3
I've got a full set of first editions for the first 5 or 6 sets. A shame they're worth so little, though. Even the base set isn't worth much compared to a certain other TCG.
@melonarius Yup, this is my biggest complaint with Xenoblade. I have a 7.1 Surround system going through a nice audio box, and on rare occasions the game actually makes use of the stereo effects. But most of the time, the game sticks all noises through the front channels, including the extremely loud music over-top the extremely quiet voice audio. Thank goodness for subtitles, but it's really disappointing how little effort was put into making the audio awesome when the actual music and such is so good.
My other personal issues are UI related. One is that Skell Arts are not displayed when managing Skell Gear, especially during purchasing, which forces you to guess and go through extra steps to see what something even does. Two is that looting items sticks Enemy Parts in the same section as Gear. I don't like the process of selling gear through the shop either, but it would be made so much easier to have an option for 'Loot all Materials' and then be given the choice to choose which gear items you want to loot. Instead, I kill a ton of enemies, loot 20 treasures, then painstakingly loot all the materials while ignoring the gear because I really don't want to have to sell it through the shop later on. Maybe if they gave me a filter option in the shop's selling menu to say BLADE Gear, Light Gear, Casual Gear, etc... As well as one to filter for rarity.
On topic: Text doesn't bother me. I just play on a 40"-ish TV from a distance of about 6 feet. Plenty readable then. However, it's unable to be read on the Gamepad mode, so I will not be playing on Gamepad Only until I'm done with all of the missions and have reached the point of grinding end-game gear.
140 hours of legitimate gameplay so far. Still haven't finished the main story, either. Time to go spend 3 hours talking to everyone around town! Whee~
I am disappointed. Not because of the selections, but because I seem to remember being promised THREE characters from the Ballot, not just one. Though I feel like Cloud and Ryu were chosen based on Ballot results...
Soooooo, deriving things from history and flavorful theme means getting sued if someone else happens to have done it first and then you both get popular? It's two different companies. It's not Valhalla. It's Valhalla Movie Pictures and Valhalla Game Studio. The full assembly of words is in each logo. The images are different. They sourced the same history when it came to designing their logo. No one is trying to rip anyone off. So WHY do we have to be so stupid about this and jump to suing?
@RainbowGazelle
Yup. Very. A nice leisurely walk is great for RL but terrible for a game.
However contrary to what some internet juveniles might assume, ( http://comments.deviantart.com/4/5377181/3981731173 ROFL wtf? ) I actually did like the game well enough. But I had more overall fun playing The Last Story than I did Xenoblade Chronicles due to the fact the pacing was a little better. Even with the Gecko cheat for increased run speed, I felt like I was slogging through a swamp. Especially in the town areas where there's zero action going on and I've already seen the sights ten dozen times over.
And I'm still looking forward to X. Bought the collector's edition even. It might be a little more enjoyable to wander around and just look at things, too. But at the same time, gah, I just have such bad memories of the original in regards to the movement speed. Liked everything else but it really needed to be a quicker paced game for travel, even factoring in the quick travel stuff.
Man, hate to see this guy's review of the Wario mini-game. Meanwhile that's the second main reason I even pull the Game and Wario game out anymore. It's this... and flinging Fronks around.
The game is slow enough normally that I had used walking-speed hacks on the original Wii in order to stand to play it! This would make me just chunk the thing in the trash. Maaaan, sooooooooo slow!
I thought there was a report button somewhere. Not that I have any reason to dignify that post with a response but...
I'm tired of Nintendo being 'gameplay first' over actual story and character development. Star Fox has a lot of potential beyond being just an arcade shooter and Nintendo doesn't care to take the time and risk to develop it. Meanwhile the series has severe issues with gender imbalance, shallow characters that are more one-dimensional than anime chars, and the graphical art style of Fox there is absolutely revolting compared to the elegance of the designs in Starfox Adventures.
I have every right to complain about these things because the game, from a character point of view, is extremely relevant to me, for both my interest in anthropomorphics and my interest in foxes. I think Krystal had a ton of character potential, but it was 100% wasted after the end of Adventures.
So, yes, to me? The game is looking very bad. And I don't think that a delay will help it from my perspective.
