Re: Talking Point: Super Smash Bros. and amiibo Have Enjoyed Success, But Nintendo Could Have Done More

I think Nintendo really underestimated the actual demand for any of these products, which seems absolutely bizarre to me. They obviously knew a huge demand for a Game Cube controller existed enough to actually produce the thing... but not enough to supply it to retailers in adequate amounts. Had I not pre-ordered that months ago, I never would have gotten it.

Skylander and Disney Infinity toys have been selling quite well for years now, which is, I assume, what prompted Nintendo to create the Amiibo. I read somewhere that they've already made over a billion in sales because of these things. Imagine how much more they could have had they produced enough for the holidays.

What I think is, after they quietly discontinue a few of these, they'll reproduce them as a second edition sort of thing.

This will be an after Christmas purchase for me. As much as I absolutely would love to pick this up this week, I've spent far too much money on games in the past month, and with Christmas fast approaching, I have presents to buy for others.

Meanwhile in NA, we have 4 physical rewards to choose from, including Nintendog postcards and those Smash posters. Sure, we get more games available, but they're always the same games that get recycled; most of which I already own.

I'd totally complain less if eshop credits were made available, that way I could buy the games I want. OR maybe just throw some Amibo figures up there. I'd shut up then.

Re: Super Smash Bros. for Wii U Sells Nearly 500,000 Copies on Launch Weekend, Sets US Record

@Peach64 I don't know. I have a couple friends that want a Wii U, but refuse to buy it until Zelda releases. Why, I have no idea? But that seems to be the mentality with the system. "I'll get it when _____ releases." Xenoblade is a super niche game, so yeah... I'll agree with you there. Though that initial trailer is what made me go out and buy a Wii U even though I knew I'd be waiting a few years.

@InfernoUprising W101 is an interesting game. It certainly doesn't deserve the critic backlash it seems to get. The controls are odd and a little frustrating to get used to, but once you get the hang of everything, you feel stupid about it ever giving you trouble. I bought a physical copy for $30 earlier this year and I'm glad that I did.

Re: Feature: Five 'New Things' We Want in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U

Under normal circumstances, I'd never be okay with DLC. The garbage that gets pulled by a lot of companies is awful; content is on the disc and they make you pay to unlock at a hefty price. But, Nintendo seems to be doing it right. They push out a completed game and then eventually add some additional content for a reasonable price. Heck, the MK8 DLC is practically an additional 1/3 of the game for $12. If they decide to do the game for Smash Bros., I have a feeling it won't be that bad.
