@Mopati To be fair, I don’t think they have to complete an entire game, otherwise the development budget reward would be rather pointless. Developers have made game demos for IPs in the past, they just need to make sure that they have other projects available if they want to take this risk.
Hoping for a sale on the original when this drops. Never got around to it due to other games having better sales but now I don’t want to be left too far behind if this becomes a series. Always have loved Wayfroward games, though I need to know if they ever plan on rereleasing Mighty Flip Champs because I may get it before Nintendo decides to axe the DSi shop.
@tameshiyaku Huh you’re right. I haven’t owned a Playstation console since the PS3 but yeah they get a better deal than we do. That’s actually ridiculously good. Nintendo do need to step up their game, they’re getting trounced by both PS and XBox with Gamepass, and N64 games should have come for free and in a higher quantity and getting more Third Party support for every retro system. Of course they won’t change if people keep paying for the current service so idk if that’ll ever happen.
Am I crazy for thinking this doesn’t look as good as Bayonetta 2? B3 seems to have some weird grey haze over everything and maybe it’s just the environment but everything just seems very grey as well. The lighting also doesn’t look the same as the first two games, strangely. Bayonetta’s design used to have these streaks of reflected light, similar to black latex, which gave some contrast to the black outfit. Here it’s not nearly as prominent and she doesn’t pop out of the environment as much anymore. Same goes for her face, it’s more muted in colour and the lighting doesn’t compliment it as much as B2. Maybe it’s just that I heavily prefer the shiny aesthetic and world design cultivated by the first two games which the team seem to be moving away from in favour of the more muted pallet of DMCV but on inferior hardware.
If I hadn’t already paid for the Castlevania Double Pack on GBA with AoS and HoD just last year and extensively played both games, I would have scooped this up in a heartbeat. As of right now, definitely a sale game.
@PtM You say that, but Konami literally never gave us a good 3D rendition of those characters even with the artwork.
This list is weeeeird as hell though. Belmont’s Revenge is good, but OoE/PoR good? No. I will admit I am happy to see Mirror of Fate not just get tossed to the side though. Not perfect, but definitely a bit more than decent.
@tameshiyaku While I agree to an extent, the two networks have differences. PS Now gave you a free downloadable game every month but every other game had to be purchased individually. If PlayStation instead had a similar system where having an online subscription allowed you immediate access to a selection of games from PSP and PS2 but then added a selection of PS3 games to the mix alongside access to any future PS3 games added, I reckon PlayStation would make tiers of subscription as well. I’d only be instantly into it if the N64 games raised the price by $5 or less, I already have too many Switch games than I can reasonably play so the lack of N64 or Sega games isn’t a massive loss to me.
In my two years of owning Switch I’ve definitely played enough NES/SNES games to be worth the asking fee I’ve paid for that time. That probably wouldn’t even include the good games I wouldn’t have tried unless it was attached to a streaming service, including Clu Clu Land, Crystalis, Adventures of Lo Lo, Breath of Fire II and Kirby’s Dream Course.
@AtlanteanMan Did it say anywhere that these are exclusive to the NSO games? I think they can be used for general use as well since the SNES controller could be used on Switch games. Not to mention they also can be used for PC as well thanks to Bluetooth. If they do make it available for every game then the controller would be great for both 2D and 3D games since the real problem with it on the N64 is that so few games actually used the D-pad. Not to mention it essentially has the 6 button layout of the mega drive controller everyone is mad about and acts as a good extra controller for Mario Kart or Smash Bros as long as they improve the joystick.
I wonder if this will finally be the system that gets supported as long as the original Gameboy, which only lasted so long since all competitors couldn’t make a product that matched the battery life and game quality on the system (primarily Tetris and Pokémon). With the chip shortage going on atm I don’t think Nintendo will be too keen on upgrading to the Switch Pro when regular Switch already has a pipeline in place, is selling well, got plenty of support by indie creators, and nobody has yet made something to compete with it’s niche. We’ll have to see how the Steam Deck matches up.
At this point I don’t know how much longer GBA SP unit component are going to be functional so I don’t know about dropping a lot of disposable income into upgrading external features. Does anyone have a rough estimate?
Maybe my experience is different since I played it on 3DS first but I thought blowing was a harmless mechanic. It was used in interesting ways and was never really common enough to be a hinderance. It’s in the realm of not being sad that it’s gone but happy that it was at least tried.
Is. There. Crossplay!? Just behind GGPO crossplay is my most desired thing with fighters. If Power Rangers and Fantasy Strike can have crossplay why do so few other fighting games have it?
I never liked the character designs/art style in RWBY from Volume 4 onwards (hardly anything pops out at you) so I think it was smart going for a different art style in game. However it’s gonna take some real interesting gameplay to buy anything related to RWBY and I hope Wayforward can pull it off. Hoping it’s something like Dust: An Elysian Tale.
Crazy how Animal Crossing went from a relatively niche Nintendo IP to being one of the premiere IPs alongside Mario, Zelda, and Kirby. AC:NH has sold more than the entirety of the Metroid franchise which is crazy to think about.
I certainly hope they add more to the actual game though or update how people visiting work. I found it hard to motivate myself to decorate my island once terraforming was unlocked since no one would see it and relocating the island residents is a painfully slow process, with not being able to move the town hall being a major kicker. More things to spend Bells on after completing the house (I may have gamed the turnip market for it) and having more thing to do with others on the island would turn it into an ace game. Don’t know why I’m typing this all out anymore I just wanted to say it.
@VenomousAlbino please, Sideways on YouTube is one of the most painful content creators on the platform. He poses a question related to music in video games, talks about stuff only tangentially related to it or completely off topic for twenty minutes, then gives the simple answer that didn’t need the extra information. @OmniMan I thought a big theme for the last season was Sypha beginning to see the world from Trevor’s point of view. Initially she was high and mighty but now she’s getting exhausted and more crass due to the never-ending barrage of monsters, similar to what Trevor had to deal with throughout his entire life. Even Alucard starts acting more like Trevor as he deals with more bs.
I thought it was a clever play on the old trope. It also shines a better light on Trevor from the first two seasons as he’s not just some drunk, he’s someone who’s been worn down by the burden of being the last monster Hunter of his lineage for most his life and cast out by the church.
Germain still had some good moments and Carmilla is heavily implied to have gone made with power now that Dracula was gone. Also yes, Isaac is great.
@VoiceofMidnight Well 12-24fps is commonly regarded as the standard for cinematic animation since its inception. Anymore than that and it becomes a nightmare to draw out/rig (if 3D) every frame as such. Interpolation can really make the animation lose its lustre in squash, stretch, overshoot, etc.
Game animation is different because usually it’s fewer animations that are used constantly and usually rigged by an AI for said repetitive motions that won’t fly unless you want your tv show/movie characters to look robotic af. Even if a game is 60fps the animation is still 24fps it’s just that your inputs are registered at 60 so it makes it feel smoother to play.
I’m gonna be honest. With how close Nintendo and Microsoft have gotten this generation and the inclusion of Banjo, I would not be surprised at all if it ends up being Master Chief. He’s the only character I could imagine being big enough to save for a final DLC slot to give the game a proper send off.
I like the idea of Taboo or something of that nature but it wouldn’t have the same impact. Few people in conversations are like “Hey, I want to play as the final boss from Smash Bros Brawl.” But so many people want to play as the poster boy for Microsoft.
So pretty much I’m gonna say that my most likely picks are Master Chief, Phoenix Wright, Leon Kennedy, and (for lols) Bandana Dee.
@BloodNinja I think HoD looks ugly as sin on a backlit screen, play it on an OG GBA or front lit GBA SP the colours look much more natural since that’s how they planned for it to be seen. I personally wished they did a small enhancement to improve the music and colours because then it would be much better.
Honestly, the fact that Sega has been sitting on a potential money pile with the Chao garden without capitalising on it really baffles me. Anytime you talk to a Sonic fan, the Chao garden is always seen as a highlight. Although I guess Sega has never really been known for good decision making.
I don’t understand why people are so keen to hound a developer about a new game in a franchise. It’ll be ready when it’s ready. Who cares if it was announced ages ago, throwing out random speculation is a waste of time, as he said. After Cyberpunk 2077 you’d think people would learn to avoid this.
But as an olive branch, let me just add that if they do release B3 after all this time and it’s a mess, then it’s fair to be frustrated.
@NerdyBoutKirby Ironically that reminds me of the Time Eater from Sonic Generations. The rest of the game was pretty fantastic outside of some lacklustre character interactions and extra challenges. Then the final boss hits and it’s just so vague, annoying, and uninteresting I still haven’t beaten it since 2015 despite replaying the game up to that point roughly 3-4 times.
Watched the video, it’s a real testament to the dedication he put in. If he were to change up the assets, world map, and flesh out the mechanics and story he could totally package this as a “Zelda-inspired” indie game.
Honestly Ronald McDonald has become apart of this game’s legacy for me just through how much fun he is to play/fight against with friends. So stupid but it works.
Why do companies keep putting out volumes of series instead of having all of it on one cart? Mega man, Megaman X, FF7+FF8 with no FF9, Castlevania collection with no Rondo of Blood or Dracula X, Namco arcade games, etc.
I would have happily bought these at full price or physically if they just included all of the games on the series on one download but they just slice them up and leave them at the point where I’d only pick them up on pre-owned or discount.
Just give me a decent controller with an audio port for the love of jeeves. The “Face-Off” is alright but it’s just an inferior Pro Controller and the detachable back buttons are uncomfortable to use. Why is there only one controller that even has that feature?
I would have bought this in a heartbeat if it was a trilogy collection of all Pikmin games. But as it stands right now... nah. I already have too many great games to play and not to mention better priced games. Nintendo needs to get on board with either doing more collections of games or reducing the price for single game rereleases.
I got the Castlevania Double Pack for GBA a couple of weeks ago and completed both Harmony of Dissonance and Aria of Sorrow in just 3-4 days. While I understand why HoD wasn’t added, I wish they would remake that game solely so the soundtrack can be updated (and fix the constant shoulder button mashing, k thnx).
Literally the only issue I have with the remake graphics from the trailers is Shulk’s hair. No seriously. In the original he had more of a platinum colour to his hair, which matched his colour scheme with the silver highlights in his clothes. In XC:DE he has very yellow blonde hair which I find just clashes the original colour theory. Smash Bros did it the right way, this one just irks me. Granted, that’s a massive nitpick, I’ll probably get used to it quickly but it always just seemed a bit off.
I remember whenever this game came up on this website as an article people would mercilessly rip on it due to it’s “endless rogue-like RPG”, graphics, and mobile background. I’m glad it turned out to be good and people are actually noticing it has a campaign. Will pick it up eventually but I’m busy with FE: Blazing Sword and Animal Crossing.
Eh, I’m fine. I’m currently building up my GBA library atm. Recently bought the Castlevania Double Pack, Fire Emblem, and both Metroid games. That doesn’t even touch my 3DS and Switch games I haven’t played yet. I think we all have plenty of things in the backlog to keep us busy.
Damn, I forgot this was even a thing, however it’s not like I play many games on my phone with it’s battery life. Now I know why whenever I check the 3DS eShop it’s so bare in good sales for Nintendo games. You would think they would flog as many games as possible with the Switch making it so irrelevant, because I’m sure that if these sales were actually on the eShop and not locked behind some silly currency I would have been tempted to buy them.
@1UP_MARIO This is why Majora’s Mask is the only game I’ve ever preordered for the special edition. I still have the steel case and poster, great stuff.
Oh dear. On the bright side there’s still an event. This could at least get Japanese companies more interested in improving their NetCode with rollback and such since currently a lot of fighting games have had hideous online that hinders the experience.
Hey guys, I know this may be a bit unrelated but on the EU 3DS shop the Etrian Odyssey games, as well as other Atlus games, are 50% off, making certain games less than $10. If you've ever been interested in playing EO I'd highly recommend it, the series really has a true home on 3DS hardware.
Not gonna lie, when I was looking at that concept art and that pre-rendered cinematic I was getting really hyped and excited. It felt like a new gripping adventure and the amount of content really tells me that Gamefreak is tying their best. Then I saw the in game graphics and gameplay and my hype was brought crashing down to reality.
I never got Sw/Sh. I stopped playing Pokémon after ORAS (no battle frontier REALLY dampened my spirits ngl) and it didn’t really have anything to hook me. Unfortunately this DLC doesn’t change my mind. I can just never get that feeling out my head that says “This could have been spectacular.” And it won’t let go. I hope everyone enjoys it, I was just wondering if anyone is in the same boat as me on this.
@FoxMcCloud The only thing I hope is that the online shop can stay similar and let me download my old games. I don’t play on PC and the Switch has been my go to indie source. It would suck to lose all of those so soon.
@Jokerwolf To be fair, you can cut that down to about half if you only take into account the fully evolved Pokémon and some exceptions likes Chansey or Dusclops with eviolite.

@1UP_MARIO This is why Majora’s Mask is the only game I’ve ever preordered for the special edition. I still have the steel case and poster, great stuff.
Re: EVO 2020 Has Been Officially Cancelled, Will Be Replaced By An Online Event
Oh dear. On the bright side there’s still an event. This could at least get Japanese companies more interested in improving their NetCode with rollback and such since currently a lot of fighting games have had hideous online that hinders the experience.
Re: Nintendo's Huge Spring Sale Is Now Live, More Than 300 Switch Games Discounted (Europe)
Re: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's Sixth DLC Fighter Is From ARMS
@masterLEON Imagine if they pull a big switcheroo and make Spring Man/Ribbon Girl playable and change the assist trophy with another character.
I think a problem with Spring Man is that he is not a top tier mascot and he needs some more character injected into him.
Re: Guide: Pokémon Sword And Shield Expansion Passes - All You Need To Know, Including New Pokémon
Re: Analysts Agree That Switch Will Be King In 2020, Less Sure About The Switch Pro
@FoxMcCloud The only thing I hope is that the online shop can stay similar and let me download my old games. I don’t play on PC and the Switch has been my go to indie source. It would suck to lose all of those so soon.
Re: Hang On, Competitive Pokémon Fans Are Liking Sword And Shield's National Dex Cut
@Jokerwolf To be fair, you can cut that down to about half if you only take into account the fully evolved Pokémon and some exceptions likes Chansey or Dusclops with eviolite.
