Hey guys, I know I shouldn’t butt in here but I’ve got to report this while no one else will, currently on the EU 3DS eShop you can get Radiant Historia: Perfect Chronology for 80% off, Culdcept Revolt for 60% off and Stella Glow for 50% off. These are all great RPG games that I recommend if you’re interested, especially since there is little chance of them appearing on the Switch eShop.
@BoyfriendOfDeath Yeah, it was on a $1 reserve on Trademe (bidding site in NZ) at one point and it rocketed up to over $100. I never realised how rare it was.
@JR150 Actually there’s seven, don’t worry, I tend to forget Corrin as well.
The problem with the FE reps is that three of them come from one game, three of them are clon- I mean “echo fighters” of either Marth or Ike and all of them only use swords without a lance, axe or bow in sight. Thank goodness Robin at least uses tomes. This makes it hard to say that the current cast properly show all the facets of the series.
With Three Houses being such a success and having a bunch of fan favourite characters, it would feel a bit strange to not include a fighter from it.
If they made a Pokémon trainer style character with the TH main characters I could see a lot of fans being happy. Just so long as they’re not completely overpowered.
@BlackTalon2 but we already have so many pure fighting types:
Machop line
Hitmonlee
Hitmonchan
Hitmontop
Makuhita line
Sawk
Throh
Timburr line
Parsinian or whatever it’s called
Meanwhile for Fighting Flying types we only have Hawlucha. Also the fighting type makes rock attack neutral and don’t act there ain’t a bunch of other types that can beat ice types very easily. Along with an immunity to ground types, resistance to grass, fighting, double resistance to bug, and the possibility of STAB brave bird with an increased attack stat and it would be a way better gain.
Why not add IX to the collection at that point? Having only two of the PS1 FF trio just feels wrong since they each bring a different flavour of FF. FF7 is a modernised version of the classic system, FF8 is an experimental detour and FF9 is the classic gameplay through and through. I don’t want to sound like a spoiled sport but it just seems strange.
My only issue is that it’s just a fighting type. It would have been nice to have another fighting-flying type like Hawlucha or a grass-flying type like Tropius. Just fighting type is a bit bland.
It's a shame that the most prominent titles on the system such as Sonic Adventure 1 & 2 as well as Shenmue have aged less gracefully than the flagships of other consoles. Luckily there still are some great games on the system and I would love to see Jet Set Radio, Crazy Taxi and Power Stone if possible.
I'm honestly just happy that it's an RcR game that doesn't have those same 8-bit sprites, I know it's a tradition, but I just can't get into it. This game looks to finally scratch that beat-em-up itch I've been needing though. Plus, it's Wayforward, I've been a fan of those guys ever since Mighty Switch Force and they rarely disappoint for me.
I think this game will be a real winner. Not only does it seem to have a much tighter focus than the original game, but it also has a much more consistent aesthetic/art style too. Doesn't hurt that the music is made by David Wise, I've listened to that first trailer many times just because I like that tune so much for some reason. I hope it lives up to what it's been showing us so far.
I’ve always felt like FE:Fates would have been pretty big if they just kept it as one game instead of two. I still remember the FE hype after Awakening hit the scene and got a bunch of new people into it, me included. I was keen for the next one but I was just left confused with the choice and differing content, so much so that I opted to just not get it at all, and a lot of my friends were the same.
I’m glad to hear this is doing well and hopefully we can see some Advance Wars next? Maybe? Please?
That first game looks very interesting with some pretty solid animation.
Also, as much as those NES character sprites are iconic to the RCR franchise, I'm much more interested in River City Girls purely because of the updated sprites. Have they made any mainstream RCR with that art style or is that just a Wayforward thing?
@Aaronnnnn Honestly, I think the series has just garnered the bad rep through its run.
From the amazing Genesis days there was the shaky leap into 3D with the Adventure titles, to the utter meme that is Shadow the Hedgehog, to the NASCAR pile-up of Sonic 06 that destroyed a lot of the blue blur's credibility, to a rocky recovery through Unleashed and Black Knight before finally getting back on his feet and sprinting with grace with Colours and Generations... then getting into another NASCAR pile-up with Lost World and the Sonic Boom game back to back that literally annihilated a lot of people's hope that they had in the series.
I remember following some pretty big Sonic fans on Youtube back in the day and let me tell you, after Sonic Boom, their overall love for the series, in general, dropped like a rock. People really enjoyed Sonic Mania but at this point, a lot more work is needed to pull Sonic out of the rut he's currently in, especially with the lackluster reaction to Sonic Forces.
Darn. I just got Pokémon Conquest and the two Advance War games very recently so I haven’t had the chance to play them. I guess I’ll just stick to what I know but Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: EoT is still taking my #1 spot since it’s the one game I refuse to overwrite my save for just for all the good memories I have with it.
@Nintendofan83 I'm not sure what you're getting at. Nintendo usually only limits multiplayer games like Mario Kart and Smash Bros to one-per-system, with the WiiU not even lasting long enough for Splatoon 2 to be finished. Splatoon 3's console of choice will come down to how long Nintendo wants to wait before showing off the next big console.
and the magical world of programming strikes again where a small opening can allow for a world of possibilities... and more bloody Gamecube controller debates.
@Arngrim Yeah I think it's slightly different for us in AU region (Australia + NZ). Idk, it never comes up when I search for it and it never appeared on the front page at all back then.
@Ralek85
Oh dang, The Quest, I remember that game. I didn't get through much of it when I was younger, I was mainly just grinding card games in the first town for gear after beating the first crypt. After getting my warrior set up I set off to the next town but got kind of distracted and then just kind of stopped playing for some reason. Truly a legend to behold. Supaguy, the random tavern card player that saved the town that one time and then most likely died by archers.
Wow, that is a very impressive looking NES game, especially with the all the effects an no slowdown. I'm going to try it out online. I hope we can get a brand new Dizzy game, just a small one, these guys seem really passionate about the series.
Weird for such a movie to be made when the game hasn't even been localised yet. Although maybe their saving it for when the movie drops. I'm not 100% sure on this one, especially since the video game movie genre has never had a great movie before. But it has the same writer who made Gravity Falls and the co-writer of Guardians of the Galaxy so that seems good. However Rob Letterman is directing and I find him rather hit or miss with his Dreamworks catalogue, though to be fair sometimes he wasn't given the best script to work with. I'm cautiously optimistic.
After getting 3D Outrun and 3D Super Hang On two weeks ago and enjoying the everloving crap out of them (especially Super Hang On) I'm definitely keen for this title.
I always felt so frustrated with Renegade Kid when they were still around. They were capable of making some stunning games with their FPS games on DS being notably amazing for the time. But once they hit it off with Mutant Mudds I feel like their track record got a bit splotchy. I always felt like their games were priced too high and they never got their games out in the European eshop fast enough for me to still care at that point.
With their numerous rereleases (Dementium and Moon did not hold up on 3DS when compared to Resident Evil Revelations especially with the piece meal uploads) and the dangling of Treasurenauts at the end of a stick whilst shoving out rather meagre titles like Xeodrifter just really just screamed of poor analysis of their market.
The people in Renegade Kid are no doubt great guys but they need to understand where the best direction is to go forward.
@molliolli182 The fact they charged twice as much money for Pokemon compared to other Gameboy games made me eternally vexed at Nintendo. The fact this discount doesn't even cover 50% off is not gonna win me back.
Hey, I live in New Zealand and quite a few games on these lists never make it over here, like Steel Empire and such. Why does this happen? It always gets my hopes up in these EU download lists.

@LinkSword Well, as kids we had a lot more free time, less important things to do and (at least for me) a small game selection so we could take more time to complete difficult challenges even with cheap savepoints and enemy placement. Nowadays if a game starts frustratingly chewing through time due to bad design, it doesn't matter if I could do it as a kid, I would just use save states now, both to beat the game and to move onto something else.
@Spoony_Tech Yeah, I think I may wait until I beat other RPGs in my backlog like Dragon Quest 9, FE:A (almost finished), Contact and Megaman BN5 before I head into this game, thanks for replying.
I'm pretty mediocre with RPGs as I haven't really played many, and the ones I do I usually have to give up due to boarding school commitments, how long is SMT4 and how difficult is it. I'm asking because it's on sale now in Europe.

@BlackTalon2 How dare you disrespect my boi Hariyama.
But yeah, fair enough. As a fan of the current fighting types I just felt like this was a weird addition.
