Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (October 8th)

Started my first ever playthrough of NieR and so far it's been quite the experience. I totally forget I'm playing on a Switch Lite with how fluid that game runs.

After the initial crapshoot that was launch, I'll still be playing Overwatch 2. The BP everyone else is whining about couldn't bother me in the least as a new player who is too busy learning the game to worry about "but..but they look better than me!".

Also Fortnite, of course.

It gets a higher rating from me since I never played the first. Almost bought it but never did.

Cosmetics that I can't even see since it's first person are fine, let them make their money. I don't feel like I'm missing out. Slowly unlocking heroes is fine as well because the point of a TEAM based game is to be able to do your part well, so putting in the time to actually learn a couple characters well enough to be of use will only help the community in the long run.

Really impressed that I've had no instances of lag or even slow down whatsoever though. Feels really good even on a Lite. Matches connect fast and after the initial fiasco I've had no server lag or disconnects.

I'm more looking for the PvE stuff coming though. Sadly I bet it will be some sort of paid content somehow.

Gets an 8 from me as a new player who isn't bothered by it feeling the same or not having everything unlocked and handed to me from the start.

Now that the servers have been fixed, I gotta say it ruins impressively well on the Switch, haven't noticed any slow down except maybe once in a menu.

The battle pass is rather meh and it doesn't even reward you some of the premium currency back like most games do, so I'll be sure passing on that.

Competing against all the veteran PC players is rough as a new player though.

It's impossible to judge by the two lines said. Anyone judging either way in that has next.ti nothing to go on. Would need to hear at least a coherent and connected few lines in a row of normal speaking to be able to judge fairly.

The rest were awesome though, love JB.

@Dark-Luigi I've read of success with Talkatone app (some say it's worked with free version, others say you need to spend .99 cents to unlock premium SMS) so could be worth checking out.

People are being paranoid thinking they're going to sell everyone's numbers to Russia or China for some side cash. A future hack and info dump, perhaps. Although it takes all of what, 3 seconds to block a number? So I don't see the big deal in any case.

Well the excellent video review sold me (that and Amazon offered me $15 credit) on getting it. Haven't preordered a game since Portal 2's original release. The $40 price is a lovely treat for us treated like dirt with Switch tax and giving it love and polish to make it run great is worth it to support that and hopefully good sales might help get us more good ports and help keep the Switch living for it's next couple years if it's lifespan.
