Re: Review: Arcade Classics Anniversary Collection - Perfectly Functional, But Not Much Else

SonicTheHedgehogs

I hate to admit it, however not having TATE mode is a deal breaker for me on this collection. Having my FlipGrip and playing Namco Collection (plus others arcade games) is so perfect that I don't think I could go back now with new non-TATE vertical games. If they ever release a patch (which I'm sure they won't) I would buy this the same day for full price....

Great review BTW... loved the breakdown on each game!

Re: Talking Point: Do We Still Want Achievements On Switch?

SonicTheHedgehogs

Having an achievement / trophy / sticker / stamp addition on the classic NES (and other classic systems down the road hopefully) would be my dream scenario. What a fun way to explore games I have played 100 times then to offer a collection of challenges to compete!

I don’t care as much about the other games on switch but this would make these classics so much fun to revisit and would get me to play games I might not otherwise like want to go back to.

This is the week my wallet was dreading.... I am picking up Aggelos, SteamWorld Quest, Konami Arcade Collection, Picross S3 & Ding Dong XL. This to go along with Cuphead, Kitana Zero and Dragon's Dogma from last weekend.

I have so so so much to play in the coming weeks. I hope for some slow down

Re: Nintendo Adds New NES Games And SP Versions To Switch Online Earlier Than Planned

SonicTheHedgehogs

Might finally try and complete Zelda II this way now. I have probably started it over a dozen times throughout my life and never gotten past the half way point. Might finally cross the second to last Zelda game (no I do not count the CDi games) off my beaten list. Skyward Sword will be the final one for me and once that shiny switch re-release (please!) is released I will complete the series!

Re: Feature: The Best Metroidvania Games On Nintendo Switch

SonicTheHedgehogs

I own and have completed all of these other than ironclasts and the mummy. Both are on my wish list and will be next in line when they go on sale.

It’s funny, this is my favorite genre and I really enjoyed (or loved in a few cases) every game on this list other than axiom verge. I know it’s a master class to most people but I felt it was a slog and was happy to finally beat with no desire to continue after to find secrets.

I would add the games Ghost 1.0 and omega strike as other (smaller) hidden gems in the genre as well. I really enjoyed both games and enjoyed the short 10 or so hours of each. Also both are around $10 and can usually be gotten on good sales from time to time. I think I paid $5 for Ghost and $6 for Omega.
