Re: The Wireless SNES Controller For Switch Unlocks Super Mario World Sound Effects

SonicTheHedgehogs

I agree that the EU colors on the SNES controllers are far to superior to the purple/gray combo we have here in the US. I will say though the different button textures the US has is way better than the 4 standard face buttons in EU...

No idea why they decided to make them this different in these regions all those years ago?

Also, I got mine in this mail this afternoon and they are AMAZING and feel so right when playing the SNES games on Switch

Re: Nintendo Download: 26th September (North America)

SonicTheHedgehogs

This is the first week in a quite a while that 5 selections is simply not enough for what I will be picking up. I am so excited to revisit Ori soon and having never played a Dragon Quest game I am excited to try out the original soon.

Fall gaming season is here!!! Bring on the rest

Re: Poll: Nintendo Switch Lite Is Out Today, Are You Getting One?

SonicTheHedgehogs

Got mine yesterday (thanks Amazon for the early delivery!) and I must say I absolutely love it. Here are my initial thoughts a few hours in.

  • It is WAY lighter weight than I thought it would be
  • The d-pad feels even better than I thought it would, and it's placement feels perfect
  • The screen is so crisp due to the slightly smaller size. I put Zelda on last night and I was blown away.

Overall as my "travel Switch" this thing is absolutely perfect. Also, I can give to my son from time to time without too much fear of complete destruction, lol.

Re: Devs Make Big Bucks On The Switch eShop By Drastically Reducing Game Prices

SonicTheHedgehogs

I have a handful of games that I purchased for $0.99 or less and for the most part they are pretty bad (looking at you Bouncy Bob which I bought for 1 cent!).

There were however a few games that I bought due to an insane sale like Xeodrifter ($0.99), SuperBeat Xonic ($0.89), Don't Die Mr. Robot ($0.99) and Bulb Boy ($1.50) that I actually really enjoyed and would have certainly skipped had it not been for the sale price.

Re: Review: LEGO Jurassic World - A Recooked Package That's Right At Home On Switch

SonicTheHedgehogs

I love me a good LEGO game, however I think in most cases it's the lineups of unlockable characters that makes it. I like Jurassic Park and all, however unlocking "random scientist 3" from a cast of characters does not excited me nearly as much as a Star Wars, DC or Marvel list. Also, the lack of open-world (my favorite part of City) is a deal breaker for me. I will pass on this one while I wait for the new Star Wars LEGO game next year

Re: Review: SEGA AGES Puyo Puyo - You Can't Polish A Puyo This Plain

SonicTheHedgehogs

I have a bit of an issue with the con "but likely to be an online wasteland within weeks". While agree this will most likely be the case, I do not think it's fair to dock the game for something you assume is going to happen.

If somehow this game has a vibrant and active online fanbase will you come back and adjust the score?

Overall great review and I agree with the other points, just think we should be fair when knocking something that is not the case when reviewed.

Re: Guide: Nintendo Indie World Showcase August 2019 - All Announcements And Game Trailers

SonicTheHedgehogs

I absolutely loved this lineup (at least 5-8 games I will 100% be buying). Ori was one of my favorite games I played the year it came out and never got to the DLC released after, so will gladly double dip to play this again. Also, Torchlight 2 and and The Touryst looked amazing. Hands down the game I am most excited for is Creature in the Well though. Thrilled we finally have a release date and cannot wait to get my hands on it!

Re: VS. Gradius Joins Hamster's Arcade Archives Series On Switch

SonicTheHedgehogs

@JayJ I did watch the video (it was really good!) however there is a difference between Nintendo Arcade Games (like the ones in the video and Punch-out) and Vs. Arcade Games (which are NES clones, like Excitebike, Balloon Fight, Pinball and the others I named above).

The Arcade games were ported to the NES after their release (with many differences like you mention), however the Vs. games were ported the other way with NES coming first and then given arcade releases after the fact with very subtle differences (like adding 2 player to some games or remixing the levels around).

Hope this makes sense!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (August 10th)

SonicTheHedgehogs

After completing Cosmic Star Heroine last week (really fun game BTW) I have jumped into Resident Evil (1) this weekend.

About half way through it as I can tell and man it's GREAT! I have never played the series (not a huge fan of the spooky games) but thought the recent sale was as good of a time as any. I may have to grab the rest of them if they go on sale again as I heard they get better and better (until 5, haha).

Happy weekend everyone!

Re: Nintendo Download: 8th August (North America)

SonicTheHedgehogs

I am waist deep in Resident Evil (1) at the moment which I picked up on sale last week.... I hated the clunkiness of it at first, however now it's really growing on me about half way through.

For this week I will eventually pick up Turok 2 and Fell Seal when a sale comes. Also, I don't know why however Pix the Cat is calling my name too. May have to try that out in the future.

Re: SteamWorld Quest Gets New Game+ Mode, Legend Remix Difficulty And More In Free Update

SonicTheHedgehogs

I told myself if I saw a discount for this game I would pick it up, however at $20 (after the discount) I still think it's a bit high... the other SteamWorld games have gotten crazy discounted (after I bought them all for full price at launch) so may wait for a while as I am in no rush and my backlog is maddening.

I will say, this game looks amazing and I will 100% pick it up at some point with this extra content!
