Following a rating by the Australian Classification Board in February and a listing on the G4F Localisation website in March, Layton’s Mystery Journey: Katrielle and the Millionaires’ Conspiracy - Deluxe Edition has now been spotted on the Entertainment Software Rating Board.
The classification means a North American release shouldn’t be too far off. The game started out life on the 3DS and the deluxe edition for Switch arrived in Japan last year. Take a look at the descriptive rating below:
Last month, G4F also listed the original outing Professor Layton and the Curious Village for Nintendo Switch. The last time we heard about this classic story-driven puzzle game was when Level-5 ported it cross to Android and iOS devices.
Have you been waiting for Layton’s previous releases to arrive on the Switch? Did you play Mystery Journey on the 3DS? Tell us in the comments.

Excellent! It's the weakest in the series by far, in my opinion, but I still like it.
I'd like a collection of the older ones. Don't really feel like buying them on the 3DS. I'm not interested in this one, but I'm happy for the ones who are..
@MattFox It's possible since we got phoenix wright collection on Switch, which is an older handheld series.
If this comes in around $20 I am all in...
I bought the first 3, but it did feel the quality slipped every entry there was. Plus moving back and forth across some of the maps to artificially make the game longer got a bit irritating.
Unless the professor himself is in the game, I have no interest!
depending on the price, i might just get it on 3DS instead.
Noice! Don’t have to buy the 3ds game now!
isn't this the game with Layton's Daughter? if i remember wasn't this also released on the 3DS?
and whatever happened to Alfendi, Layton's son?
I’m still just bitter about never getting London Life over here. That looked brilliant in the old Nintendo mags.
Omg. I don't know anything about this
It's too late to change things, but I think "E10" is a silly rating. E for everyone and T for teen was enough. I really wonder, what is it that makes a game okay for a 10 year old but too "mature" for a younger kid, but not mature enough that you should be 13?
Like do they use the word "hell" or something? Or are we talking 1990s Toonami logic where if you replace the word "kill" with "destroy" and edit out some blood around dead bodies, it makes all the difference?
I'm surprised with how much detail is in the rating summary, didn't realise they put so much work into it.
Since I have a huge backlog of Layton games going back to the DS era (only played the first two games) I won't be getting this anytime soon. Would like the option to play the game docked and on the big screen, that way you could get friends or family involved and solve puzzles together.
Dang it Nintendo! I just got the 3DS version of the game.
I have no intention to ever buy this again, but maybe it’s a sign that the series will continue.
weakest in the series by far, in my opinion, but I still like it
I'd like a collection of the older ones
it appears most others prefer the orginal games over newer entries
Take note, port-bashers. People often prefer older games to newer ones (and thus why people Switch owners are in bonanza mode right now- a good game is a good game, be it old, new, short, long, digital, physical, whatever)
Could we have news on a sequel? Like, the game ended on a cliffhanger and two years later not even a sequel announced for Japan. Layton games used to release every year or two. I agree that it wasn’t as good as he originals but I hate unresolved cliffhangers (looking at you, Golden Sun Dark Dawn)!
A puzzle game dressed up as an adventure. Give me proper point n click any day.
I still need to play the prequel trilogy at some point before I even dream about this entry.
@Morrow I agree. I already have the Phoenix games on 3DS, but I`ll get it on Switch as soon as there`s any kind of sale lol. Professor Leyton seems like a perfect match for a port, so I guess I`ll just have to wait a year or two.
@MattFox Or 5years, knowing Level 5 and their extremely long development/porting times, lol
I have a strange feeling that this will be much pricier than if I was to buy it on my Android tablet (currently at about $15,99 USD). Like, around $40 or something. If that's the case (I'm sure I can bet on this), I'll pass.
It was already released on March 22, 2019 in South Korea.

@ShadJV if you 100% Layton's Mystery Journey, a little box pops up saying 'Katrielle will return in another adventure'. While it's far from confirmation, what with plans often changing based on a number of factors, it's at least something.
Anyway, as a huuuuge fan of the Layton games, I really didn't enjoy this one. Felt very disjointed and underwhelming both in puzzles and narrative. Wasn't a big fan of Miracle Mask, Azran Legacy or Vs Phoenix Wright for that matter but those first four are genuinely magical games. As a self-proclaimed sucker, I'll buy whatever this series throws my way
@MajorasLapdog I know, I 100%ed it, I still don’t like unfinished stories.
@ShadJV yeah, I get that, I was just trying to offer reassurance incase you were unaware
@MajorasLapdog I appreciate that. I don’t think an in game message means much though. I mean, “To be continued” essentially says the same thing yet some games never receive the next game in the series, again using the example of Golden Sun Dark Dawn. If you can’t tell, that one was a bit of a sting for me, haha
