I really wish they would have tossed the GameGear games on here too as a bonus. That would have put me over the edge to spend $40. Now I will wait for a deep sale to even consider.
I am always down for Sonic Spinball so happy enough with these. I also had no idea they made a sequel to Space Harrier...though I must say the clip here makes it look the exact same as the first one, lol
I have absolutely loved my time with this game so far. We are taking it slow and just started A New Hope (after finishing the Prequel Trilogy). I could see putting upwards of 100 hours into this game when it is all said and done.
I have completed 1-3 and keep telling myself I need to pick up #4...this sale seems like a good time to do that. Picross is the perfect "B" game while I play something else more in depth.
Playing backlog games this weekend as I realized I have waaaay too many games on my switch I have never played. Playing the following:
Citizens of Space - cool RPG from SEGA. I like it so far (about 4 hours in) but already growing a bit bored of the exploration...not sure if I will finish or not
Voxelgram - awesome Picross 3-D clone. Really liking this one
Membrane - picked this up for like 10 cents a year ago and finally decided to try it out. Cool physics puzzle game that was 100% worth the price.
I got to the penultimate boss of this game over the summer and really enjoyed it until that boss. I got so frustrated after the 100th try (plus the path I had to continuously take to get back tp the boss) that I had to put it down.
I prob won't dive back in, however if you like the genre you will prob like this one.
Really liked the first one and would 100% go back for a sequel. I do agree with some of the other comments though as I did not consider the first one a Metroidvania. The only backtracking that was really encouraged was after the game was over to get some of the items I had missed.
I have been on a big Metroidvania kick recently so booted up 3000th Duel from my backlog earlier this week. I am at the very end tower I think (about 15 hours in) and I cannot get over how much I have enjoyed this game. I think I picked it up for like $8 earlier this year and it is so worth the price. Hoping to complete it today or tomorrow and then will focus on Tony Hawk 1+2 on PS4
I absolutely cannot wait to snag those Neo-Geo Pocket Color fighters... I had one when I was younger and had nearly every game for it (found them all super cheap as it was discontinued). Cannot wait to play these all again!
I am a digital gamer almost exclusively so these physical releases never do much for me, however I think it's great that they bring extra exposure to these releases. I will say though it's crazy that many times a $5-10 Digital game goes for 5x the price in physical form
Completed The Mummy Demastered this week and loved it (though I felt it was way too short at only around 5 hours).
I finally caved and bought Burnout Remastered this week (got it on sale for around $25) and have been glued to it since. I 100% completed it back on PS4 and am loving reliving it on the go. Will be spending the weekend playing that mostly I imagine.
Finally finished Darksiders last week and completed a Picross game (Travel Mosaics Paris) last night, so I am looking to start a new game from my backlog. I have narrowed it down to the following three choices... any suggestions on what to play next?
Picked up 2 of them this morning! As many have mentioned above LEGO hold their value once they retire them and fetch large sums quiet quickly. I will put one together now and then toss the other in my closet for a few years to sell for a tidy profit.
For those complaining, LEGO is an expensive hobby and this set is actually reasonably priced compared to other licensed sets.
I read elsewhere they are giving a bunch of legacy awards to people who have purchased the game before it went FTP. This will include all the DLC and all common items (over 200 of them). You have to sign online before the FTP date though t receive the rewards.
I have 100% gotten my $20 worth over the past couple years and these items are just bonuses!!
Going to try and finish Darksiders 1 this weekend (about 12 hours in now and think I am near the end). After that ends I will most likely move to some sort of puzzle game in my backlog as it's been a long time since I have booted one up. I also bought Paper Mario but will prob wait a few weeks to boot it up.
this does not affect me as I would only be playing online, however this seems like a major oversight by Square as I imagine a majority (or at least a large portion) would like to only play this way.
$20 is my happy place for this game... the day it drops to this I will buy it and be very happy
I am totally fine with paying a little more for portability as this is my main mode of play but 10x the price elsewhere for the same game is just too steep.
I completed the original DOOM this week which as expected was absolutely a blast. Was in the mood for something a little deeper and longer so I finally fired up my physical copy of Darksiders 1. About 8 hours in now and am absolutely loving it so far. Hoping to have it done by Friday so I can start paper Mario on day 1!
Did Ice Climbers really not come out in Europe until March 16, 2007?!?! Was Virtual Console the first time it was ever released there?
That being said, I would really love to see a Sonic Spinball remake from the people who did Mania. With the advances pinball games have taken over the past decade I think that could be something special
I have never even heard of this until just now. I like the look of it and from the review it sounds like something I would like. Tossing it on the old wishlist! Great Review!
Finally completed Underhero this week (it is fantastic BTW and I loved all 12 hours to beat it) so I fired up Agent A Puzzle in Disguise as I heard it was short and sweet. I am about half way through it I think and I must say... it's amazing. I am having as much fun with it as anything I can think of in recent memory. It's on sale for $2 right now and I full recommend it to all.
After I beat Agent A tonight I am thinking I might finally start Darksiders. Had it physical for a year now and never started it
I am actually playing Agent A as we speak (it's currently 90% off in the e-shop!) and I agree.... it's an absolute gem. I cannot recommend it enough for the $2 it's going for at the moment.
I will 100% pick these up when they eventually drop to $10 a piece. I have played most of the these arcade ports to death, however most of their NES versions I have not.
This announcement is not for me at all, however really happy to see this announcement as I know others will be thrilled. More is always better regardless of genre IMO and I hope it leads to even more top tier games down the line!
I am more worried that zero review codes were handed out for these games (at least that's the rumor)... I hope all three of these collections pan out as I plan on buying all three.
Also, I hate to be harsh but who cares what it costs elsewhere? If you want it on Steam get it there (same for other consoles). The prices elsewhere do not change my feelings on a Switch title. If the price seems fine (and TBH, $50 for three massive games works for me) then I will buy. okay rant over
I will continue to invest my daily hour or so into ACNH (randomly got Raymond to move to my island after finding him on deserted island!!!).
Aside from that I am about half way (I think) into Owlboy and will see if I can complete it this weekend. Metroidvanias are my number 1 favorite genre but I just can’t decide if I like this one or not. It is absolutely gorgeous no doubt but for some reason it’s just not clicking with me as much as I thought it would... going to finish it for sure but hoping I like the second half more than the first!
Lastly, I bought both Joe and Mac arcade games from the E-shop this week ($2 each!) and will be breezing through both of those in between... the second one is absolutely incredible BTW
So happy to see a Jeremy Parish (Gameboy Works) call-out here. His YouTube videos and Retronauts podcasts are a must for any fan of retro games. I full recommend giving both a try if you have not before, you will learn a lot!
Excited to have a busy weekend of Animal Crossing with the new month upon us I have a lot of new bugs and fish to go after!
In other games I just completed Teslagrad (switch) and Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order (PS4) this past week and am looking for my next (non-animal crossing) game to play out of my massive backlog. Will most likely start Timespinner or Owlboy as I am in the mood for a good Metroidvania.
I cannot think of a game that has looked cooler to me, however I fear will not be good. I do not know why, however I just have a feeling this one is going to be a flop. That said, I certainly hope I am wrong as the concept to this game is amazing.
I liked this game well enough and eventually did complete is but the reviewer's con "A bit too much backtracking and hunting for keys and cards" is so accurate. Towards the end playing was more of a chore for me to hunt these down and the constant back tracking to old worlds was just not fun for me. Overall I thought it was pretty good (plus I picked it up for less than a dollar which helped) but there are better games in this style out there.
Going to be spending a lot of time outside in the yard this weekend as it's going to be gorgeous for the next few days. While inside I will be fishing in Animal Crossing and trying to complete Kunai (which is awesome BTW).
We've had this game in our house for about a week now and while I can safely say it's not fantastic by any means, it is certainly entertaining and IMO closer to a 6 than a 3. Also my son absolutely loves it and begs to play it lol.
One thing I will say though is the motion controls are unusable, they simply do not work. We switched everything over to button prompts and have had a much better time since.
Overall, if you like Cooking Mama games from the past you will most likely appreciate this one for what it is. If it ever drops to $20 or below (I picked it up for $30 at Target) I think it will be well worth it for all.
first off, I love that you are doing reviews of some missed gems of the recent past... great work!
For this game specifically I am so bummed I was not able too get into this one. I bought it on a sale sometime last year and for some reason it did just not click with me on any level. I complete nearly every game I start and this was a rare one I stopped playing in the middle.
Oh well, every game cannot be for everyone and I am very happy that so many like this one. Can't wait to see the next "classic" review!
@Yosher No prob! I was given it last night when I was playing. I think it comes after you spend a certain amount of money in the Nook ATM catalog. I send a lot of gifts out of it to friends so I am guessing that contributes as well.

I am so excited to get lost in these games! The Darkstalkers games hold a special place in my heart as my local arcade always had them.

Re: Reports About Super Mario Bros. 35 Being A "Rip Off" Of Last Year's Fan-Made Battle Royale Simply "Not True"
I played for about an hour today and really enjoyed my time with it. I do worry though I will grow bored of this WAY before I would ever in Tetris99.
The good news is that I have already finished #1 several times in Mario where my all time high is 3 in Tetris
