Re: Night Slashers: Remake Brings Horror Arcade Beat 'Em Up To Switch This Month

Shadow_Dancer

Day one purchase for me. I played the demo and the game is a lot fairer than the arcade original. Arcade Nightslashers problem is the main levels are very hard all 1cc replays involve running forward getting loads of enemies on screen then using magic. bosses where largely very easy to beat without taking a hit. Also my favourite Fighter History character Fei Lynn not sure if her Dragon Punch, Fireball move set will carry over

Re: Review: Abathor (Switch) - Retro Fantasy Hack 'N' Slash Is Great Fun With Friends

Shadow_Dancer

It’s nothing like Golden Axe it’s clearly Cadash. Cadash 4 characters Barbarian, Priest (lady she’s the best character has morning star) Ninja (long range but weak projectiles) Wizard slow low health but godly attack and power.

Abathor is the same Priest is now a lady warrior or Amazon. Not sure if the game has Cadash rpg elements. The playing area is scaled out reminds me of Sega’s Spiderman arcade when Venim grows huge. Not a fan of the pixel art

Re: Round Up: The First "Hands On" Impressions Of Luigi's Mansion 2 HD Are In

Shadow_Dancer

Luigi’s Mansion is one of my favourite games ever the sequel was just terrible. No portrait ghosts, you can only between levels (and some levels are really long). The game was really easy but at the end of one particularly long level Luigi has to cross a narrow plank in the attic This was very hard to do when I finally got across I had almost no energy and quickly died h back tracking. Guess what start the level over which took around 30 minutes to reach that point

Re: Soapbox: "Go Outside, Get Some Fresh Air" - Why Won't Outmoded Gamer Stereotypes Die?

Shadow_Dancer

Jayne Secker previously slagged off evicted tenants calling them scroungers and telling a woman who had just been evicted “it’s your own fault” and private Landlords such as herself suffer more stress

Now she slagging off a 13 year old boy who finished Tetris in memory of his father.

I’ve certainly never cared what people think as I collect the woman figures from games like Final Fantasy Tifa, etc and some people would say you collect dolls. The same people would get upset when they told me about there going on a foreign holiday for 1 week drinking benders and coming home with the same pasty moon face they left with and no tan - when I replied “so you saw the wall of a pub and the wall of a Hotel wall” they got upset. And it was always “Must have been a good holiday as I got so drunk I can’t remember it

. I’m certainly not going to be bothered by what some faceless person on the internet thinks of me..

Re: Taito's Animal-Saving Beat 'Em Up 'Growl' Is This Week's Arcade Archives Game

Shadow_Dancer

@WhiteTrashGuy the arcade version is a lot better. The Megadrive redid the graphics and removed the final platform level(think Double Dragon Nes platform sections). Also you attack really slowly on the Megadrive and you lose health when doing the spin kick. And all the speech is gone and there’s a lot less enemies on the screen. I got to this caterpillar that bursts out of this guys back and it took so long to die I just turned the game off

Re: Talking Point: Which Scary Video Game Moments Gave You Nightmares As A Kid?

Shadow_Dancer

2 games gave me nightmares

Return to the Forbidden Forest Commodore 64 awesome creepy scene setting music and the monsters are you alive in different ways when you died(lots of blood)

The other game was on PS1 and this creepy ghost girl who came in the dark and murdered you. Hiding in well lit areas thinking I’m safe only for the lights to smash then ghost girl is behind me and she kills me.

Also the Death Scene the policeman who goes to the murder house sees water coming from under the doo. Opening the door he sees your dead body fall out of the painting as water laps out of the painting filling the room. Would love to know the name of that game.

Re: Memory Pak: 50 Shades Of Morally Grey In Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward

Shadow_Dancer

I completed 999 and VLZ last reward with every ending upon release amazing games (super miserable and very depressing) still can’t complete Zero Time Dilemma, can’t get Zero’s name and another wrong choice has an evil ending where the masked kid removes his mask.

999 and VLW are related but are impossible to mention how without giving away a ton of spoilers. Also VLW also annoyed me for trying to make you feel bad for choosing to kill that kid. Dio would choose to kill him every time and just laugh about it.. Dio I remember was just a psychopath who wasn’t meant to be a participant memory’s hazy on this.

I actually liked Zero Times story again I’ve not finished it but depending how you answer the guy wearing the Plague Doctor mask at the start the wrong answer I’m certain takes place in the same place as VLW.

Re: Netflix Cancels Resident Evil Series After First Season

Shadow_Dancer

Its.not my Resident Evil and why make characters like Claire black who have always been white when you have

Ada Wong
Sheva Alomar there using Evelyn from Resident Evil 7 so why not Sheeva
Carlos Resident Evil 3
Excella Gionne Strong female villain of colour
Manuela
Lord Saddler Spanish
They could have set it in Resident Evil 5 timeline and nobody would complain

Re: Oops, It Looks Like Capcom Arcade 2nd Stadium's Line-Up Has Leaked

Shadow_Dancer

Very underwhelming understandably no license games like Cadillacs and Dinosaurs, AVP, Punisher etc. how about Red Earth, Final Fight Revenge, Giga Wing 2, Rival Schools, Super Pang, Strider 2, Last Duel and Star Gladiator,?

Instead we get games that have been on every other Capcom collection or various Street Fighter games.

Re: Gary Bowser Jail Term Intended To "Send A Message" To Other Switch Hackers

Shadow_Dancer

^^^. I think I was half asleep when I read that but you are right. He made far less from the venture over the course of seven years – much less than the $14.5m in fines he would be asked to pay at the conclusion of the trial from the Big N.

I have no problems with them putting on Old Nintendo Arcade games like Space Firebird, Sheriff etc that Nintendo refuses to release or old games in general. It’s just new games if people pirate new games less devs make new games and it’s less choice for gamers.

I actually read comments on NL that all new Switch releases should be available freely for them to pirate on day of release.

Re: Gary Bowser Jail Term Intended To "Send A Message" To Other Switch Hackers

Shadow_Dancer

There’s certain NL posterswho think it’s their god given right to pirate every new game Nintendo or other wise. Somebody who I won’t name was whining as nobody had pirated Paprium and he wouldn’t pay to buy it off the Store(because he should have it free)

It seems clear some people didn’t read the article as it says the fine he was given was a tiny amount compared to the money he made.

Re: Review: Snow Bros. Nick & Tom Special - A Tired Bubble Bobble-Alike That's Finally Affordable

Shadow_Dancer

The reviewer doesn’t made it clear but this sounds like a remake of the Megadrive version - not the Arcade!!!!

The Megadrive has 80 levels and from level 50 the Snowmen get captured so you play as the Princesses who have to rescue them. Also the Megadrive has the animated intro.

The other thing that isn’t mentioned is killing all the enemies on screen with one snowball causes several large bonus items to drop(not sure if the correct name for them). Or hitting more then 1 enemy with a snowball causes power ups and better items to drop there’s even unlockable bonus screens. There’s a lot more skill to the game then the review would have you believe such as using snowballs to block enemies.

Re: Memory Pak: My First Killing Game - 999: Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors

Shadow_Dancer

Played these on the DS and Zero Escape on 3DS amazing games. Couldn’t stop playing them I Unlocked everything apart from a few endings on Zero Escape I can’t get Zero’s real name and who he is under the mask. The deaths where mostly bad endings and there’s a few social deviants. As you don’t know who to trust as the bracelet locked to your wrist injects a poison if your teammates bite to excite you.

Re: Mini Review: Tormented Souls - A Survival Horror Homage For Genre Nuts Only

Shadow_Dancer

Agree100 % with Spring Divorce but I really enjoyed Silent Hill Homecoming as well. I also get the reviewers point Tornented Souls is very hard. Limited health, limited ammo and death takes you back to your last save not the room you died. Also add in some instant deaths when Caroline enters the darkness ( a rather nasty cut scene occurs as you see Caroline’s nails breaking as she tries to claw her way out of the darkness but gets dragged in.

I can see a lot of complaining it’s too hard

Generally disturbing game such as the burnt infants in the kitchen oven and the Silent Hill type other world. Caroline having her eye removed among other things.

Re: Random: Pandemic Shooter's eShop Page Makes You Wonder If Anyone At Nintendo Checks These Things

Shadow_Dancer

So the easily offended are okay with seeing people getting their brains blown out in Doom, or 13 old girls in Death Smiles on the Eshop - but making fun of conspiracy theories isn’t?

I’ve seen plenty of so called adults claim 5g masts cause Covid, and the BBC is run by the Illuminati who are really Lizard People and the eye on the BBC is used to mind control the population into voting Tory’s.

I even had somebody message me saying that ‘the’ Albert Einstein is his GP in North Wales and he wrote on his sick note that Covid is just the flu. I doubt the Chavs who think Covid is fake and made up to stop them getting drunk on New Years Eve could even spell their own stupid names the same way twice let alone realise that a Nintendo game is mocking them.

Re: Fatal Frame: Maiden Of Black Water's Latest Trailer Tells The Terrifying Truth Of Mt. Hikami

Shadow_Dancer

I payed £50 for Maiden box set(photos of ghost girls, art book, steel tin, map posters and some other stuff) on the Wii U upon releases sadly my Wii U is knackered but I kept Maiden at least this saves me buying another Wii U.

I never finished this properly as Shiragiku scared me and one of the endings is fighting her and she gives me the creeps.

After completing the main game you play as Ayumi from Ninja Gaiden and the game continues. So will definitely be a day 1 purchase for me

Re: The Shadowrun Trilogy Is Coming To Nintendo Switch In 2022

Shadow_Dancer

The Snes Shadowrun is one of my favourite games ever and managed to finish it in recent years. For many years I couldn’t beat the Jester Spirit when he tells you to guess his name, turns out the Vampire lies to you and gives you his wrong name. Using the stake on the Vampire a few more times got you the Jesters correct name Laughlin and killing the Vampire got you a huge XP boost

The final level Drake Towers was impossibly hard even with 4 runners including the Orc, Dwarf and Kitsune and the last boss turned into a Dragon. I eventually cheated using the matchbox trick(The Matchbox takes you to a secret room with all these woman who heal you and give you every weapon)

Re: Two Classic '90s Games Are Being Reprinted On SNES, And Pre-Orders Are Open

Shadow_Dancer

I had Stone Protectors on Snes never realised it was a cartoon.got it as I love scrolling fighters.

Anyhow the game was terrible, all 5 Trolls seemed the same one Troll has a gun and Grenades - to use and he made the game actually playable. It was virtually impossible with the other characters as they where so slow and the AI so aggressive.. Most alarmingly of all, there are no crowd control moves of any sort.

Also the Trolls arms where so short you had a job to hit anybody. Jim Powers seems terrible most Piko games are. And yes I have an Evercade and wasted my money on the Pikp collection

Re: WayForward's BloodRayne Betrayal: Fresh Bites Sinks Its Teeth Into Switch Next Month

Shadow_Dancer

Bloodrayne 1 and 2 on the PS2 where awesome. Bloodrayne 1 the Jurgan Wolfe and Belial final boss fight was impossibly hard. Bloodrayne 2 was awesome but incredibly easy.

This seems to be a rereleased Xbox 360 version. I own the 360 version cannot remember much about it other than hating it and the boss on level 2 a screen filling tentacled creature that was easier to beat then the normal enemies. I got an achievement for beating it without taking a hit.

Re: Review: Battle Axe - A Battling Throwback That Doesn't Land All Its Hits

Shadow_Dancer

So this looks like a clone of Data East’s Dark Seal or it’s sequel Wizard Fire or Konami’s Mysterious Stones (Not Golden Axe or Knights as the reviewer claims).

Dark Seal has 4 characters and the Wizard had a lot more magic, she could turn into a Medusa. IMO I prefer Wizard Fires Huge sprites and playable characters though l Imagine this plays a lot better not being a coin muncher. But the mummy lady looks class hopefully she is playable.

I will buy this depending on price game looks class and I think 40 minutes is an ideal length as I would try to 1cc and continue to come back. These longer story driven games lose all interest after I finish them

Re: Hamster Confirms Two More Coin-Op Classics For Its Arcade Archives Range On Switch

Shadow_Dancer

@DrDaisy that’s Sega’s Tough Turf last Boss is female gang leader and you fight her on the Rooftop. I’m sure you throw her off the roof in the ending.

One of only 4 belt scrollers with a female last boss/Gang Leader the others being
Guardians of the Hood
Double Dragon 3 had 2 female final bosses the old Woman he was supposed to be helping you then Cleopatra/Marian on the Nes
Combatribes Martha Splatterhead

Re: Hamster Confirms Two More Coin-Op Classics For Its Arcade Archives Range On Switch

Shadow_Dancer

Crime Fighter story the woman where being trafficked by crime boss I wonder how censored Hamster release will be. The arcade version had guys dressed like Village People who would try to preform a sexual act on you and female mid bosses in leather dominatrix gear she would stub her leather boots on your head

After rescuing the women you had to fight every boss at the same time, still to this day doubt this

I could get to level 4 on 1 credit the gun made level 2 incredibly easy(it had infinite bullets). Level 4 boss guy in a Hockey Mask serial killer with a chainsaw could only hit him with the invincibility frames when you lost a life

Re: Capcom Arcade Stadium Is Out Now On Nintendo Switch

Shadow_Dancer

Cadillacs and Dinosaurs Hannah and Jack are the main characters in Xenozoic Tales.comic. And some of the enemies only appeared from the cartoon. License would be a nightmare shame as it’s one of my favourite arcade games

AVP I don’t get as they just released it in their Capcom mini console so they obviously do have the rights.

So no Final Fight Revenge, Three Wonders or Little Nemo - Black Tiger would have been nice as well.

Re: Just When You Thought 2020 Couldn't Get Any Weirder, WaterMelon's Paprium Is Finally Finished

Shadow_Dancer

I had an email from them last night saying my Papruim box set and comic are ready to ship. I payed 3 years ago and forgot about it and put it down to money lost which is the case when you back anything Via Kickstarter. I noticed the price has now doubled from what I payed for it.

As for the people saying they’re going pirate it Magical Factory have said there not going to release a rom. So good luck with that.

Scrolling fighters are my absolute favourite genre so I’m happy to pay the money for it.

Re: Random: Amateur Dev Releases Reimagined Remakes Of The 1993 Zelda CD-i Games

Shadow_Dancer

I think I may be the only person who likeS Wand of Gamelon as I bought a Phillips cdI several years back to play Wand and the Laserdisc FMV games (and went through the hassle of fixing the timekeeper battery)

I do wonder how many commenters have actually played the games. CDi pad was basically a Snes pad minus shoulder buttons. Wand played just like Legend of Makai an obscure arcade game. Paint shop cut scenes where so bad they where good and game could be finished in 10 minutes in speed runs.

I played Wand far more then any of these current Switch shovelware that are constantly on these buy one for 99p got another 3 free.

Re: Mini Review: Arcade Archives Zero Team - A Long-Lost Coin-Op Relic That's Worth Unearthing

Shadow_Dancer

I hacked a PS mini to play Zero Team and Big fight Trouble in the Atlantic Ocean.

It makes me pleased it got a Switch release so just off to download it. It’s really not that difficult as I can get to that Skeleton/Robot thing on 1 credit using the woman. Bosses can be killed easily with the Rocket Launcher so long as you don’t waste it in the normal gooks.

Actually really good game with touches and variations in the levels that it doesn’t get boring.

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl: Duel #63 - Advance Wars: Dual Strike

Shadow_Dancer

The Jap cover is terrible!!! It looks like PlayStation Army Men games. I finished all the Advance wars game from the GBA onwards.

It’s been a long time since I played it Duel Strike but I recall A villain draining people’s lives to become immortal and effectively rule over the Black Hole army forever.

Days of Ruin that story was dark & gritty taking place after a ☢️ Winter. Again it’s been many years since I finished it
