Ahead of the game's launch later this month, Koei Tecmo has released a brand new trailer for Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water (or Project Zero: Maiden of Black Water as it's known in Europe), diving deep into the lore surrounding Mt. Hikami.
As anyone who played the original on Wii U will know, the game has you taking on the role of three different characters who are busy exploring the Hikami mountain. If you love nothing more than chilling ghost stories and other mysterious phenomena, make sure to give the new trailer a watch and feel those hairs rise up on the back of your neck.

The new Switch version of the game is launching just in time for Halloween on 28th October and arrives with brand new character costumes. We enjoyed our time with the Wii U original, so it'll be interesting to see how the game goes down with an all-new audience on Switch.
Will you be giving this one a go? Remember, the game's producer has said that should this game be a success, a sequel could well be on the cards.

If its physical, I'll snag it
I'm not spending $39.99 for digital only.
PAL's name of the game is better and closer to the original one. Game's original name is Zero. Yeah, just "Zero". But in the game's plot, there something about "Project Zero". And because of it, game was renamed to "Project Zero" in PAL regions. In NA, game was renamed to "Fatal Frame", only because of game's mechanic - Camera Obscura. It's stupid. And 'cause of it, I like and prefer "Project Zero", instead of "Fatal Frame". I hate when original Japanese game's names are renamed in localizations. I will never forgive Capcom for what they maked with Gyakuten Saiban series... Poor Ryūichi Naruhodō... And I will never forgive Janet Hsu for her awful translation of the games. I'm even can't call it a translation! She renamed characters, changed their nationality, and changed other things.
I never got around to picking it up on the Wii U so I'm definitely getting it on the Switch this time around.
@CharlieGirl it’s $39.99
@Vyacheslav333 PALs name is so much better than the American name in where I live. I am in NA
@BigassToaster you can buy a physical from importing from playasia
@anoyonmus Way too much for digital. Physical or nothing.
WoOooOoOOOo the secret of Mt. Hikami is that they never released the Wii U version physically for North American consoles WoooooOoOoOo and it's expensive to this day in its limited EU release WooooOoOoOOOOspooooky.
This will be so sick on the Switch OLED
$40 is way more reasonable than I was expecting, considering how Wii U re-releases are usually priced, lol. Sold!
@Ralizah facts. I was expecting $59.99 to be honest
@CharlieGirl then import the physical. This Eshop pricing is way better than usual Wii U re releases
@anoyonmus Me too. I'm glad they're being sensible with the pricing. This series needs all the breaks it can get.
A domestic physical release would have been a nice gesture, but the asian version is there for people who absolutely refuse to buy it otherwise, and, tbh, it doesn't make sense to be physical only anymore.
@CharlieGirl @BigassToaster Switch & PS4 physical is up on Playasia right now. https://www.play-asia.com/search/Fatal+Frame#fc=v:6
@Ralizah It never made sense to be digital only in the first place when one is a large, multi-billion dollar publisher like Koei Tecmo. :/
Depending on how this reviews, I think I’m gonna do either the PS5 or the SX version. Because sometimes, graphics do matter.
This game was fantastic on Wii U. Will be picking up an imported physical version for sure!
I started playing the Wii U version of this a few years ago but I must say I found it very boring and wasn’t impressed. The only other one I’ve played is the Wii one years before, which I didn’t complete either, but I remember it was definitely better than this one. Must say I definitely prefer the Silent Hill games over these ones, from what I’ve experienced.
Thanks for coming back from the dead, Zero. I never pre-order digital games on any platform. It's pointless, right? Well, I just pre-ordered Project Zero: Maiden of Black Water Digital Deluxe Edition for Xbox (it's Series X-optimised, in between), just because I want the promised sequel and the re-release of the older games and because this is one of my very favourite franchises. Project Zero 2 Wii Edition is one of my favourite games ever. I could have chosen the cheaper version but the digital deluxe includes a digital book and a soundtrack. And all editions include goodies if you pre-order. Oh and yes, I pre-ordered the Wii U limited edition back in the day.
Playasia has a physical version for $40
I'm getting a physical copy from PlayAsia for $40. An English patch is releasing on November 30th.
@BigassToaster PlayAsia is going to have a physical version. Thats where I'm buying it next month.
I got the special edition for WiiU and it was/is fantastic... including the artbook. The game is firmly placed among the best horror games, I've ever played and I've played a few over the past 25 years.
I'm importing a physical copy. I'm trying my best to keep the best games in physical copies. When the lights shut down on the Switch, I want to revisit the "greatest hits" when I want to, how I want to.
I payed £50 for Maiden box set(photos of ghost girls, art book, steel tin, map posters and some other stuff) on the Wii U upon releases sadly my Wii U is knackered but I kept Maiden at least this saves me buying another Wii U.
I never finished this properly as Shiragiku scared me and one of the endings is fighting her and she gives me the creeps.
After completing the main game you play as Ayumi from Ninja Gaiden and the game continues. So will definitely be a day 1 purchase for me
"$40 is too much for a digital version"
Everyone here, "Owns dozens of digital games bought at $60"
If it's a good game it's worth whatever they're charging.
@Vyacheslav333 You have no idea what you're talking about. It wasn't named Project Zero for the reason you state. You have obviously never played any of the seven games, because there is absolutely NO plot point whatsoever surrounding the name. You're full of it. Not sure why people"<3" comments that aren't even true.
