@Jokerwolf I disagree. Last Guild Wars 1 expansion (Eye of the north) was released in 2007. Which means according to you it would be okay to steal in 2022. The game is still very active and has only recently (last year) recieved a "Reforged" remaster. And the game still gets regular updates from the original development team.
Sure it's a PC MMORPG, but without a subscription. And still very active.
(the remastered version replaced the old version of the game, and people who had previously purchased the game got a free upggrade to the reforged edition. Which meant for me that the purchases I did 15+ years ago still have value. You can buy the reforged edition for $20 if you didn't have it. Then it includes just the 3 main campaigns (Prohecies, Factions and Nightfall) but you can buy the Eye of the North expansion seperately.)
@CielloArc I think about 0% of Devkit users use them for piracy, where I also think around 0-1% of the emulartor users use them for actual game development. Most emulators are not equipped for that. (no real ways to debug code for example). That is the difference. Also nobody is complaining people use emulators for homebrew.
@solarwolf07 You don't have to get so agressive. I actually still have a (IPS screen) GameBoy Color and a ModRetro Chromatic. And I still have some of my old games (Tetris, Super Mario Land, Pokémon) and I even bough some 2nd hand games (Zelda mostly) and have recently bought a Chromatic game for my ModRetro Chromatic (next to the Tetris game that came with it).
But downloading dumps, even from games you already have is Piracy. Dumping them yourself is legal as long as you don't have to break an encryption. (which means that any Switch game dumped is just as illegal) Emulators are legal as long as you don't use them with copyrighted games.
@user0 Except not really. This used to be the case because of smaller and more efficient chips being produced. (Moore's law) Which these days really isn't the case anymore. And with high inflation and rising demand for (memory-) chips.. well..
Even Sony is delaying their next big console release. Prices for the Steam machine haven't been revealed yet (they would've been by now).
So.. I don't think this is all that unforseen. Prices of all computers or computer like devices are going to increase the coming 2-3 years. Yes, that also includes phones and consoles.
If you want to buy a Switch 2 within the next 2 years... do it soon.
I am so happy Nintendo took down another dozen of pirates. Emulators are not always illegal, but most of them are used with pirated roms. Making them enablers.
Also I disagree with people saying "it's okay to pirate old games". Since still a lot of people play retro games on retro consoles.
Already pre-ordered. I am very excited to play tennis with my Mario-buddies. And sure I wish it had more single player content, but I knew that wasn't going to happen.
But it's going to be a blast to play online, I'm sure.
@MattmanForever Anything less than a 40 hour single player mode would be too short for some. But even a 20 hour single player or a 10 hour single player would eat into multiplayer budget.
The price of $70 is literally nothing compared to the wages of developers, designers, etc. these days. Budgets on these games goes into millions.
@MattmanForever Adding a 40+ hour single player campaign to a multiplayer game is going to take resources from the multiplayer part. So it is always a balancing act. Or the game development would just be twice or more as long.
@KayFiOS Actually this game isn't developed by Nintendo themselves but by Camelot. Splatoon is developed by Nintendo.
@OmnitronVariant There are demos for Let's go Pikachu & Eevee, Pokkén Tournament, Mystery Dungeon Rescue Team on the eShop. So "never" is not very accurate.
@The_Nintendo_Expat The console games never had any real single player content. It was always single player on the handheld and multiplayer on console. The Switch / Switch 2 versions are basically still "console" games even though the consoles are also handhelds.
Honestly I would love to see a purely single player focussed Tennis game. But I don't think there is enough market for. (read: casual players don't care)
So it's a multiplayer party tennis game with a small single player mode?
Exactly as expected.
Honestly I didn't have any hopes it would be a JRPG-Tennis game like the GBA/GBC tennis games were. Still I miss those days.
But I did like Mario Tennis Aces on Switch, so I will still be picking this one up as well.
@Anti-Matter "The budget is allocated more for the advertising than the actual Pokemon games.
..
Branding blind loyalty too much..."
So... you mean that their allocated money to advertising actually works?
@sportymariosonicmixx The difference between the Switch and Switch 2 is a lot bigger than between 3DS and 3DS XL and even between 3DS and new 3DS. There is litterally NO comparison. The difference is even more than between the old GameBoy and the GameBoy Color which were 2 'generations' of handhelds.
@Dazman It's not single or even cherry picked. It's the first one that came up when Googling for Pokémon glitches. I've could make a list as long as this entire article and I would still have not mentioned all of them.
And glitches like MissingNo (which could break your save data) haven't been in the series for years now. So yeah, a very clear case of retro glasses here.
And that is the most famous one. But every Pokémon game has jank, glitches and bugs. Since day one.
Some people really have pink colored retro glasses on here on this site. Because actually the jank is a lot less now than it used to be. But social media is a lot more now than then, so it's more visible.
@nessisonett Okay I could be misremembering that. But the case stands he (my brother) loved Fifa a lot more than PES.
Myself I only played Fifa against him, and didn't even get Mario Strikers until the Wii version. (and the Switch version) So I don't really know. I have played PES before, but didn't care for it much.
@nessisonett PES was always more arcade like and Fifa was always more a football-sim. At least that was how my brother used to see it. (And he should know, Fifa is almost the only thing he plays).
And no we're not young.
I still have memories of my big bro getting his PlayStation 2 (before that we played only on PC, and yes Fifa) to play Fifa in his room in the early 2000s. Not long after I bought my first console: a Cube with The Wind Waker. I also got Fifa for it later, so I could be player one for some matches against my brother.
@Gil7R There are even more co-op games that also offer single player options. But forcing two players limits the (re-)playability of the game and honestly is just lazy on the developer.
@Otimus I also count Switch 2 Editions. Which means I also counted Animal Crossing New Horizons Switch 2 Edition. So only september without a game. One month in almost a year.
One. And Nintendo usually has one month during the summer months without releases.
Now for PS5 tell me every FIRST party game released last year per month.
A full 3D Zelda in 2026? Sorry but that's not very probable. 3D Zeldas are usually annnounced long in advance. Also with Mario Tennis Fever and Super Mario Wonder Switch 2 editions we have all the Mario we need for at least the first half of the year.
I do hope we'll see a Zelda remake or rerelease of some sort. And a Q4 Mario game... so.. a Nintendo Direct anyone?

Re: UK Charts: Mario Tennis Fever Serves Up A Decent Debut
If Nintendo made a Mario Football game that was actually good.. it would dethrone EA's Fifa/FC

@The_Nintendo_Expat Source: the law and the law. (DMCA, or similar in Europe) And I sleep happier when criminal orginasations are closed.

Re: Stellar Blade Dev Might Be Eyeing A Switch 2 Release In The Future
Have the game on PC, but I might double dip if the censorship is kept to a minimum.
Re: Poll: What's Your Favourite Gen 3 Pokémon?
Gardevoir. Still one of the best overall Pokémon.

@XCWarrior Why not Miltank? Whitney that's why.
Re: Poll: What's Your Favourite Gen 2 Pokémon?
Easy one: Celebi.
Re: Poll: What's Your Favourite Gen 1 Pokémon?
I'd say Pikach or Mew.
Re: Mario Tennis Fever Takes To The Court With A Small Day One Game Update
@Shaw_Brothers And I honestly can't blame them for all the game leaks Nintendo has had since the Switch 1 was hacked.
Re: Round Up: The Previews Are In For Pokémon Pokopia
@SakuraHaruka Even a physical game on Switch / Switch 2 is digital. The cartridge is only a medium containing digital game files.
Re: Reminder: Switch 2's New Joy-Con Set Is Out This Week
@MisterLizard Honestly, I like the minimalistic colors.
Re: Poll: So, Will You Be Getting Mario Tennis Fever For Switch 2?
Already played a couple of matches, offline against the cpu and online. This game is fun. I'll be playing adventure over the weekend.

My most anticipated game for this year (for now) I really like the idea of combining Pokémon with DQ Builder.

@Markatron84 It's an alternative universe where Mario and Bowser are friends and only play sports, race karts or play board games together.

I loved the classic Turok games on PC back in the day. (I feel so old writing that) So I will absolutely get this. But it might be on PC, though.
Re: Disney Dreamlight Valley Will Be Part Of Your Switch 2 World This March
@CR0J0 Indeed this is basically a 'live service' game. You need internet for it to work.
Re: Pro-Evolution Soccer Successor 'eFootball' Is Getting A Switch 2 Exclusive Spin-Off
@anoyonmus The PES games never where better than Fifa. So I doubt it. But happy to see some competition on the football game genre.

@Nintendontyouknow those won’t be in a PARTNER direct.
Re: Switch 2 Exclusive 'Orbitals' Mixes Anime Visuals And Co-Op Puzzle Platforming This Summer
Forced co-op is a direct no-go for me, sadly.
Re: Fallout 4: Anniversary Edition Launches 24th February for Switch 2
Day one for me.
Re: Video: 14 Exciting Games Coming To Switch And Switch 2 In February 2026
Mario Tennis Fever for me and Resident Evil 9 on PC.
Re: PSA: No, Yacht Club's New Game Isn't Coming Out In 2030 - eShop Date Just A "Placeholder"
2030? That would still be sooner than GTA6

Re: Nintendo Explains Why Switch Games Are Still Getting Free Updates
@Friendly Well yeah, inverstors only care about money. Putting developers' time on something that doesn't directly make money is a waste.
Re: This Mario Tennis Fever Ad Is Giving Us Big Nintendo Wii Vibes
Ad shows family playing game. Honestly there is not much Wii about this ad, except for Nintendo making these kinds of ads since the Wii era.
The game looks fun, though.
