Serious post; play this game peeps. Its so, so good. Its silly when it wants to, can be absolutely serious when it needs to be. And honestly, don’t sleep on the real estate minigame.
You can place a chicken as a manager. Nugget foreeeeeevah.
Its just not the videogame stores; Nintendo has a huge presence in Japan. It already starts when you arrive at Narita airport. You pass customs and enter the rest of the airport and the first thing you see is a giant wall with Mario on it saying “Nintendo welcomes you to Japan!”
When you head to the cities it’s not different; so many merch; from crane game prices, plushies, drinks, snacks; it’s Nintendo everywhere.
To be honest, these days I don’t hear a lot of criticism in regards to videogames. Better yet, if I tell coworkers, people in general I play videogames they’re actually more interested or understanding.
They might use terms like “you are a real gamer huh”, “so what do you play on your Nintendo”’ or whatever, but isn’t as bad compared to these comments
Sees the currently line-up; includes one original game, others are remasters or smaller games.
Several studios are MIA; most notably Nintendo Tokyo. For six years now since the release of Odyssey.
We have reports of of the Switch successor being shown behind closed doors at Gamescom 2023.
There are many signs out there that Its happening and coming in 2024. I suspect in February we will get the final Switch centric Direct.
Around March or April, when Nintendo closes out the financial year they will share a simple message; hi everyone, 2024 is going to be an amazing year, as we will announce and release the Switch successor. Details will be shared soon.
As much as I like Kojima, the guy is not infallible.
If there is someone at Konami with a clear vision for the franchise which is in the spirit of the series, it never hurts to try. They will only need a good budget. And for god sakes, please make the story better.
Especially in the story parts of MGS V, Kojima kind of went off the rails and made the story not as engaging compared to previous games. Hell, look at Death Stranding. Mind you, in the gameplay aspect and what Death Stranding is, it’s fantastic. The story however is so bizarre and in the end so… less complicated, it makes the story crumble under its own weight.
In the end the FTC will make this a story to fit their agenda and honestly, if Nintendo “was a competitor” they would have factored it into their argument.
I’m traveling to Japan in September and while I’ll have a lot of sights to see and cities to visit, I think I’ll put this down on the list of places I might visit; it sounds like a really cool thing to see.
Its a fantastic game. I remember getting this back in 2010 (game was out in feb in the EU) and it was out around when Heavy Rain released.. and a lot of people were suckered in by the empty promises from Cage.
Shattered Memories suffered from people scoffing at the Wii, but the game was really good in using motion controls (one of the better ones on the system) and the fact it was made by a non-Team Silent dev; people who gave the game a fair shake were pleasantly surprised. Especially the mechanic where your choices slowly change certain aspects of the game was really good, plus the creepy surrounding are good.
I miss the days of the DS in that respect; it had so many cool little games (or visual novels like these) that really tickled my curiousity for weird new games. I really was sucked in by 999; the characters, the scenario, the dialogue, the madness of some endings...
@Dragonslacker1 Ha, I put RE in my top 5 favourite series as well.
Reading this article makes me love Remake all over again. Makes me realize I have this on Switch and didn’t play it very far along the first
OT
But REmake made me a fan of the series. I love the Mansion, the corny dialogue, Wesker, the little notes all over the mansion like “itchy... TasTy”, the moans of Lisa haunting me, fantastic videogame. It made me play the original on PSone.
Afterwards I have played every release; Zero, 2, Nemesis, Code Veronica X, 4, 5 (Gold Edition), Revelations, 6, Revelations 2, VII and REmake 2 and REmake 3.
Fantastic series. Shame about 6, Operation Raccoon City and a stinker like Umbrella Corps.
Wasn’t the only reason he chose Nintendo back in the day. Mikami was kind of done with Sony’s development tools and how bullish they were in regards to the Code Veronica and Nemesis situation.
You had that amazing Eurogamer article where it was revealed MS tried to get Mikami to sign a deal with MS, but as they botched the meeting Mikami went on to another with Nintendo... who sent in Miyamoto. That pushed him to choose Nintendo.
Mikami is a very talented man. His Resident Evil games he worked on are great, Vanquish is amazing, The Evil Within is great... hope, even though he’s the executive producer, that Ghostwire Tokyo will be fantastic. Shame him being an MS employee now
Its not just Grubb who said the same, there are other rumblings as well. Grubb is good people, I trust him. There have been some tidbits overall;
1. The strongly hinted at Mario 3D Collection 2. Skyward Sword HD being listed and apparantly its coming 3. No More Heroes HD popping up at a ratings board 4. Prince of Persia for Switch/PS4
Catherine is cool; I played the original on PS3 and its really refreshing to play something which doesn't involve shooting or killing, but rather subjects like relationships. Its mostly pretty surface level stuff, but cool nonetheless and the story is really entertaining.
The puzzle sections are fun, albeit a bit trial and error at times.
Don't know if I would rebuy it again; I actually like the premiss of Rin, but eh, reading up on it and seeing where they are taking it is just wrong. Not the best choice, lets leave it at that. Also the weird stuff around Erica is regrettable.
Anyway, Eurocom was a pretty good developer, Shame they went belly up. They also had a good PS2 James Bond game, Dead Space Extraction and other cool stuff in their day.
Maybe I’m in the minority, but I think Darksiders II was just okay. I loved the first five or six hours. Cool Zelda-esque and God of War game, but after Death arrives at a certain point you become nothing more than a glorified errand boy. A fudging Horseman of the Apocalypse.
Then the game turns into this mediocre third person shooter, picking up steam in its final act, only to squander it by having a very unsatisfying ending. I was kind of disappointed with the overall game.
I get it, the times, they are a-changing and E3 needs. I’m assuming though that next year MS, Sony and Nintendo will be present (as they need to market their new systems and will be needing all the media exposure they can get) and we’ll get a bigger show.
That fastpass thing is smart though; timeslots will work so much better.
Keep digging that grave EA; it’s getting deeper by the minute.
A bit dramatic, as you could always use EA’s titles and they are probably not entirely wrong, but it also means that their current slimey business practices can not appear on the Switch.
Huh.
I see no downside. I refuse to buy EA games on the PS4 as well. Make games I actually want to play.
I stil wonder why they had Nagoshi on the stage back during the Switch reveal in January '17. He seemed pretty confused about being there. Oh well. Still bizarre that they keep on using the Wii U releases as reasons not to publish on Nintendo hardware.
Strange that they're so adamant on keeping the series of other platforms; I believe the PC ports are an initiative from the Sega western branch, if they didn't want to, nothing would have happened but PS releases.
Which is a shame. I've played 4, Kiwami, playing 0 right now and have 6 ready whenever I feel like it, but especially the structure of these games would be ideal to play in handheld mode. While the main story is the most important, the game has so many side activities which are great for short bursts of play. Plus it would be nice to have Kiryu and the gang portable.
If we’re getting a Persona 5 on Switch with more stuff (like more story elements like in Persona 4 the Golden and Persona 3 FES) count me in for a double dip.
The weird discussion above aside, Persona 5 would be an amazing addition to the Switch library and its ever growing selection RPG. I mean, next year if P5 would come to the system, it would join Tales of Vesperia, Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest IX, Fire Emblem, Pokémon Gen 8; the system would be JRPG heaven.
Persona 5 has a fantastic atmosphere, a cool cast and the music is amazing. The only downside is Mona’s “you need to sleep” message that appears to much, but its managable. Persona 5 is all about time management.
Serious post, Huawei makes some pretty damn good phones. However, fighting Nintendo on this one takes balls. Whatever they do, competitors always struggle going head to head with the big N on this one. Of course, there could be a moment in time where Nintendo loses to a competitor, but I don't think Huawei is the one to challenge them seriously.
Will eventually buy. I liked Demon’s Souls the best (dat Tower of Atria) and have the Prepare to Die version on PC, but I never got into it. Going to try on Switch again.
Oh I’m expecting more streaming services and games available on it about ten years. In Holland our internet connections are pretty fast and stable, so I expect the adoptionrate would be pretty high when such a service would debut on the marketplace.
Still, just give options. I still prefer physical.
The UK is generally a graveyard for the majority of releases.
If you are not GTA, FIFA, CoD or Battlefront, they just don't care. For diversity and more chances in the market you need to swim to mainland Europe. While those games sell better, in general other games have more healthier sales.

Not surprising at all.

Honestly, this is just delaying the inevitable.
