Sure, today sees the release of the likes of The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening and even a brand new console in the form of the Nintendo Switch Lite, but there's another title out today that's stolen our hearts (and probably everything from the garden, too).
Yes, Untitled Goose Game is finally out on Nintendo Switch. You can grab it right now from the eShop in a number of regions (North America isn't quite ready at the time of writing, but will be later today) and you'll be pleased to know that you can actually download it at a discounted price if you act quickly.
From launch until 4th October, the game is available with a 25% discount, taking the usual £17.99 / $19.99 price point down to £13.49 / $14.99. Nice.
To get you in the mood, we've shared the game's brand new launch trailer for you up above, and you can also check out our full review right here!
Are you thinking of downloading Untitled Goose Game today? Give us a HONK in the comments.

I'd buy it even at the original price, on day one.
But that just made my day even better.
Will get it as soon as i get back home, from work.
Sure, I'll give it a gander
Ba-dum tsh
HONK
I wonder how well this thing can sell
Will it be a million hit game?
I will wait for the reviews, before taking the plunge. Seems like a silly game made for the memes, but it actually looks kinda fun.
I got the game right after 9am!
I've been having a blast with it!
But why are there no reviews for it?
I'm waiting for the inevitable physical release, I'm absolutely certain this will get one.
Will download today. To hell with reviews on this one! This sounds like "Jack The Nipper" but with a goose... I need to know nothing more.
@martynstuff beautiful 👏
If the review doesn't give a decent account of how long the game is and replayability I'll be rioting in the vegetable patch.
Switch Lite, Zelda Links Awakening and of course, Untitled Goose Game all released on the same day.... Say it isn't so 🤣🤣
HONK! (Of course!)
I wish NintendoLife would put eShop file sizes in their reviews.
Looks amazing but going to hold how to look at some reviews.
Will wait until there will be a physical release.
Holy crap. This was financed by the Victorian State Government! I'm not sure how I feel about this pro-goose propaganda.
@RupeeClock : Same. They'd be bonkers not to.
@SepticLemon any idea what length the game is? Super tempted especially with the price drop
I’ve been waiting! Today’s the day!
It's was great fun at EGX. Can't wait to play more tonight.
@popey1980 No idea, I only just got to the second level.
802mb download. Couldn't find out any info on length.
Btw, i just wonder who will be the Final "Boss" ?
What kind of human i have to prank about...? 🤭
You're lying why must you lie, I read this article and rushed right to the Switch just to find out the Untitled Goose Game isn't out yet. 😠
@Anti-Matter - It’s Mike Tyson.
My wallet... it’s crying in pain.
@bimmy-lee
Eh, really ?? 😲😆
I absolutely LOVE the art style and animation. One of the most unique looking games I've seen in a long time. Can't wait to play it.
@bimmy-lee I'd be okay with that. I can't wait to try this out. It looks and sounds very relaxing too
Downloaded. Hope it isn’t fowl.
Well by October 4th there should be some reviews. So i'll just wait and see.
Edit: The reviews are in and i bought it.
HONK! I would have paid full price, but the discount made it all better <3
lol, the cardboard box did it for me. Metal Goose Solid confirmed!
You got to remember @HeroOfCybertron Nintendo Life Is based out of England and their about a half day or more ahead of us in the U.S. I too made this mistake often for about the first 3 months i started following this site.
If this outsells Link's Awakening on launch day I can see a few feathers being ruffled at Nintendo HQ...
@popey1980 @Kidfunkadelic83 Seems to be between 3 - 4 hours from what I heard.
@HeroOfCybertron Hello Hello, the developers of the game released a tweet yesterday saying that the game will be launched on 9am Friday in your local time. As it's 2:00pm here, we already had it for a few hours. But if my maths are right, that would make it 9am now for eastern standard time, so it might be out for you now if you live in the east of the US.

It looks quite fun and silly. A review would've been appreciated but I have little doubt that it will be entertaining me. Also there's a discount, so heck, I'm going to press the A button now.
I am going to be quite honest. This game looks amazingly fun, and just an enjoyably funny experience. I will be getting this one since I need more games like this in my life. Oh, and HONK HONK.
@icebear80 still think I've got to get it for the lol's. My daughter thinks it looks fun too so how can I refuse an 8 year old the pleasure of running around honking at people.
@popey1980 If it helps, NA store says "994 MB."
I really want this but I'll wait for reviews just incase for some odd reason it's bad.
Honk! Probably Sayonara Wild Hearts too. Zero interest in anything else this week. I’ve had my fill of realistic racers over the years so no Grid, and Zelda doesn’t appeal at all (though I love the art style).
Im also going to hold off for now because I don't want it to be announced later on that they are making a physical copy through limited run game or something and already own it. I prefer physical.
Eh, doesn't look interesting
I really can't tell if this game is creatively subversive for everyone or if it's the kind of thing kids will find hilarious for inexplicable reasons.
@Anti-Matter - Ha, I made that up, but I guess I can’t say for certain as I haven’t played it yet. While it’s unlikely, I guess there’s a chance, like Buster Douglas in Tokyo in 1988.
@HobbitGamer - Yeah, looks like a fun way to unwind. I can’t wait for the review, though it’s hard to imagine there would be anything that would sway me against it at this point. Jerk simulator, here I come!
I might grab it, but honestly I feel like I'd play it for a half hour, say I had fun, and forget about it.
Its a very funny game.
Its like Metal Gear Solid
Metal Goose Solid
It doesn't seem to be up for the discount anymore. Strange.
@bimmy-lee The moment the goose caused the child to trip on his shoelace and then nabbed his glasses, he stole my heart like it was a sandwich.
@SepticLemon Thanks for this, it really helped clear up why I'm not able to buy it right now...which has been confusing me all morning.
BTW for those on the east coast of the US - it releases 9AM PST, so not quite yet.
Let the Goosageddon commence! The goose is loose!
@NoxAeturnus Interesting... Because Germany, an hour ahead of the UK, did get the game an hour before us.
@Tyranexx LOL!
Hoot's Mon! There's a goose, loose, aboot this hoose!

After hearing how short it is, I’m discouraged from spending $15 for 90 min of gameplay. I’m sure this is great, it looks very charming, but I just can’t justify that price for something I’ll play once and move on from when I can get more playability out of other games for the same or lesser price
This will be the fifth game that I’ve bought in the past week. My wallet is feeling the pain.
@Whalehome
This looks like the type of game where I will spend at least two hours on the first level just messing about. As a goose.
@Ooyah if you buy and play it, tag me with how much time you use to play it. I was only informed by one person on how long it was and I’d love to know that I’m wrong and it’s worth 5-10 hrs
@Whalehome
Sure. I do tend to mess about a lot, though. I also play some games for far longer than other people might. I have around 920 hours on The Binding Of Isaac, for example. Is it possible to message people on NL?
Can't wait to try this! I hope it runs at 60fps, but if it doesn't I'll just play it docked and use dejudder on my TV to smoothen the graphics up.
@Whalehome People can beat SUper Mario Bros in 6 minutes. But it was launched with a $25 price tag.
And that's $25 in eighties money! That's about $55 after current inflation! Simply put, yes, it's nice when games last, but you can have fun with short games too. It's all about if it's worth it, and I'm having a blast with Goose game at the moment!
@60frames-please I've only played it in portable mode.
I can't give you exact numbers, because I don't have the means to test console games. But it's been very smooth. If there's been any drops from 60FPS, I don't think it's been any less than 50.
@SepticLemon Cool, thanks for the response. The Nintendo world report review video made the game look like it is 30fps, even when I had YouTube set to 720p 60fps. Maybe they encoded it at 30fps... Anyways, I'm getting this game cuz it looks awesome. It's funny how I've never played a game like this, but after watching that review I know it's exactly my kind of game. Plus I love quality over quantity. It's nice to have both, but quality takes the cake every time in my opinion.
@60frames-please Likelihood is that they may have used an older USB Elgato Capture card that would only capture an HDMI feed up to 30fps, meaning that you'd miss every even frame when recording a 60fps game. But it looks great on both portable and docked mode.
@DockEllisD Thanks! NL's review is also published now.
Why so expensive? I figured this would be a budget game. Maybe $9.99.
I'll wait for the reviews.
@SepticLemon I just bought it and tried it for a bit. It doesn't run at 60fps. I think it's higher than 30fps, partly because my TV can't bump it up to 60fps using dejudder/motion interpolation. It still is playable and I'd recommend the game to people. I do still really wish it ran at a perfect 60fps though.
@60frames-please Well, it feels smoother than what happens when Link's Awakening tries to load up a new area.
But I'm fine with it, it's better than some other games i've played on the Switch, and it's pretty smooth in handheld mode too.
I would like to try it out on my PC, but it became an Epic Store exclusive.
@SepticLemon Yeah, to me it looks smoother than Links Awakening when it isn't at 60fps. It also never seems to get up to 60, which is where Link's Awakening hangs out almost all the time.
I'd agree that it's playable, not a major issue. I'd also still like it to be right there at 60fps. Oh well, can't win them all.
Thanks @DockEllisD for the review link.
@60frames-please It would be interesting to see what frame rate it's running at, and how stable it is; then compare it to the PC version, and see if than runs at 60fps, or if it's capped to match the Switch version.
@SepticLemon Yeah, where is the Digital Foundry complete goose analysis?!
@SepticLemon Now I want the game to have its own version of the Groosenator. XD Thanks for the link, I'd forgotten about that video!
@Tyranexx Untitled Groose Game!
@SepticLemon I keep throwing money at that idea, but it isn't making it past my laptop's screen for some reason....
I'd legit play that. XD
@SepticLemon who can beat Super Mario Bros in 6 min? I can’t. Can the avg person do that? I’m talking about average playthrough time. Just because someone can speed run through Dark Souls in 30 min doesn’t mean I can. It took me 55 hrs and i’d wager most first playthroughs are roughly 40-50 hrs. So your logic befuddles me. I know I’d have a good time playing Untitled Goose Game, but if the avg person says it’s only 90 min, I’m not ready to shell out $15 for that. That’s expensive to me
@Tyranexx
To Do:
Slick hair up.
Mack on Zelda.
Annoy Link.
Develop delusions of grandeur.
Recruit lackeys.
Claim that you saved the day.
@Whalehome What I'm getting at this that even if a game is short, you can still like it.
Heck, back in 1993 I got myself a copy of Kirby's Dream Land and beat it on the same day. I might have felt a little bad for beating it so quick, but I still own the game to this day.
@60frames-please you are way too obsessed with the 60 frames dude, give 30 a chance man!
@USWITCH64 That would be like saying...
"Yes, I would like my games to be choppy."
Granted, I'm in the realm of playing PC games above 60fps with my GTX1070 and with a 144hz monitor. I can get games to look really silky and more responsive than a 60hz TV.
Simply put, 60frames-please would just want to have more 60fps luxuries on his system of choice. Granted the Switch is a portable, and has limitations. But there's certainly examples of lazy programing, inefficiency, and understaffed work loads going on that don't make these games the best that they can get. Untitled Goose Game is alright frame rate wise, but I think 60frames-please is correct that it's running somewhere between 30-60fps, but never touching those numbers.But it would be awesome to see the game run silky smooth at 60FPS. But it also depends on how the developers made their model animations too. If they did it under 60fps, it would be pointless to run it at 60fps.
But we can all dream. We simply want the best for our Nintendo Switch System.
@SepticLemon
@USWITCH64 You should be my archnemesis, change your name to USWITCH30FPS, and then we could fight in the comments! I play 30fps games often, I'm just constantly wishing they ran at 60fps.
@60frames-please no I'm not your nemesis as I agree with you and prefer 60 frames games, but I do like sonic racing which is only 30 😀
@Kidfunkadelic83 Bought it myself too Looks fun and a bit hilarious!
@icebear80 thank you!
@gcunit seems like it's not long and everything is in the trailer. Game still looks like dopey fun.
@USWITCH64 I would laugh if 60framesplease had a tv running at 50 fps
@tendonerd 👍
@tendonerd It would have to be a cheap CRT from the 80s/very early 90s.
Pretty much all flat panel TVs support up to 60hz.
@SepticLemon My friend's Apple TV as it aged ended up somehow locked at 50 fps.
@tendonerd But the Apple TV is a set top box right?
I doubt that's the TV forcing the set top box to run at that, it might be a setting on the Apple TV to run at that rate. Heck, the PS3 does have 24hz mode for cinema rate bluray.
But all TVs these days, even since 2000, support up to 60Hz. I haven't seen a 50hz only TV set since the late 90s.
@USWITCH64 Got it. Games like Sonic Racing drive me crazy because I want to play them, but they run at 30 on Switch, but 60 on other consoles, but I want to play it on Switch, so I end up skipping the game. Haven't tried it yet.
@60frames-please Yeah, I pretty much do roughly the same thing. If it's better on a PC, I would just get a PC version.
Then, providing that the game isn't overly-over the top, and/or inefficient, can play them at unlocked frame rates, and play games at 140fps! ;P
@60frames-please However, the reason that I didn't get the PC version of Untitled Goose Game is because it became an Epic Store exclusive and I hate running so many damn launchers on my PC.
I leave my PC only ever running Steam and GOG, there's no point in wasting RAM for launchers.
@SepticLemon Got it. Yeah, makes sense.
Cashed in almost 900 gold points to get this super cheap. Can’t wait to actually find time to play it.
Still too much for a 1-2 hour game
Couldnt give a flying duck about this one.
