@xmkbest Huh, so you've actually been using the correct viewing method all along! I'm really sorry for getting so worked up about it, to an embarrassing degree... I guess many people confuse the two terms often, even though each one refers to a specific method of viewing and that they're opposite from each other. So it's confusing when the wrong term is used. I hope if anyone else stumbles across these comments, that they found it educational at least...

@xmkbest I'm not an optometrist either and this doesn't require any knowledge from that medical field. Stereoscopic 3D has been one of my main interests for basically my entire life. I have made my own stereoscopic 3D images, animations and interactive programs for both cross-eyed and parallel 3D viewing. I've studied linear algebra and perspective projection because of my interest in this field. I know what I am talking about.

Yes, crossing your eyes is generally easier than trying to force your eyes to look "far" beyond the screen. It took me a lot of practice at first to be able to see parallel 3D images. The two images need to be small and close to each other for comfortable parallel viewing, whereas cross-eyes 3D images work at basically any size. It's pretty much impossible to view parallel 3D images properly if the real life physical distance between the furthest elements of each image on the 2D display is wider than your IPD (otherwise your eyes would be looking "beyond infinity", which most people's eyes definitely aren't used to doing. And the distance between your eyes and the screen doesn't matter, think about how parallel lines work and where each eye is "pointing" when looking at something far in the distance).

So yes, it's easier to have the two images converge by crossing your eyes instead of doing the opposite. And the images will converge into a "clear" 3D image. But the effect will be strange, things that should be in the distance will appear closer than things that should be in the foreground and vice versa. It should be very, very obvious that something is wrong.

I know I ended up writing a lot, but I didn't expect this to require this much explanation. To summarise: Please, just think for a few seconds about what side of the screen is presented to each eye when looking through a VR headset. And then think about which side each eye is looking at when you cross your eyes. That word is a big hint.

@dartmonkey What? The "incorrect" quoted part that you removed was correct. There is a difference between cross-eyed and parallel 3d. If you view it cross-eyed, it will be as what was quoted, with each eye viewing the wrong side and the 3D effect being reversed. Viewing with parallel eyes (aka. "wall-eyed") will give each eye the correct image. Just think about what the Virtual Boy / Labo VR headset itself is doing and which part of the screen it is directing to each eye.
(Also side note, the vast majority of "Magic Eye" images are parallel/wall-eyed, though cross-eyed ones do also exist)

Funny how people think "Not Bad" means the game sucks and shouldn't have been released. If some people actually read the review, they'd realise that the reviewer enjoyed the game.

Wow, some people on this website really feel the need to let everyone know in the comments if a game isn't for them. Getting sick of it in almost every game review here. Games come in a wide variety of genres, and each genre appeals to different types of people. That's what makes the medium so great.

@Pod Smooth 2D animation is insanely expensive/time consuming, especially if the character designs are detailed. I think the developers made a good call using 3D models instead. Usually people hate it when something is made in 3D rather than hand drawn because it looks worse, but I think it looks really good in this game's case.

Re: Review: Fire Emblem Warriors (New 3DS)

@thesilverbrick The New 3DS was released 2014/2015 though, which isn't as long ago. This game is exclusive to the more powerful New 3DS, not the original one that you're talking about.

Re: Steep Is Still Coming To Nintendo Switch, Honest

SaKo

It's a fun game to chill out in and play for a few minutes/hours every so often, so I really hope the Switch version eventually releases (I don't mind if it takes a while) and doesn't get cancelled. People need to stop being so pessimistic about everything.

Re: Review: DEEMO (Switch eShop)

SaKo

@Zingo What other reviews have you looked at? Almost all the other reviews are for the mobile or Vita version, which play exactly the same. The game is universally well received and is one of the most popular and highest rated rhythm games on mobile devices. Did you just try to look for a negative review out of spite and to try prove that this review is wrong?

@PanurgeJr The comments section on this site would be much better if he was the one who was banned. I miss when this site didn't have all these people being negative in the comments section for no reason.

Re: LEGO Worlds Just Got a New Update

I hope this update (or eventual future updates) fixes the save corruption issue, just had it happen to me a few days ago. Fun game, but it is buggy as hell!

@Gen0neD I'm not really working on anything big yet, just small stuff here and there, learning new things as I go. I happen to be looking for people to commission for background music though since music is the one thing I can't really do that well. Do you have any examples of music you've made?

Re: WayForward Is Hoping To Bring Mystik Belle To Switch Soon

If GameMaker Studio eventually adds support for Switch export, it's gonna be huge!

That would mean that games like this, Undertale, Hyper Light Drifter, Hotline Miami, Downwell, Momodora, VA-11 HALL-A and countless other fantastic games made with the engine will be much more likely to have a Switch release, since they won't have to remake it in another engine!

Plus it also means I finally have the chance to make a Switch game, since GameMaker Studio 2 is my favorite game engine lol.

Re: Review: LEGO Worlds (Switch)

SaKo

@Danrenfroe2016 To be fair, these types of games in general where you can go crazy and spawn or build stuff don't usually look as good or run as well as games where everything is crafted and placed by the developers. It's easier to optimise and polish games where everything is in a controlled environment, rather than having to account for how many blocks a player placed and how much stuff they spawn.

Re: Review: LEGO Worlds (Switch)

@carlos82 If someone had to choose between this and Minecraft, I agree that Minecraft is the better choice. However, as someone who owns Minecraft on pretty much every single device I have, it's a nice change of pace. I can make and do stuff in this game that isn't really possible in Minecraft.

Re: Review: LEGO Worlds (Switch)

SaKo

I feel like this is gonna become more of a guilty pleasure kind of game for people who like making stuff. I agree with everything in this review and I really wish it wasn't as buggy and performed better. However, I did enjoy recreating SNES Rainbow Road in the sky of one of the worlds I generated and driving random vehicles on it, something Minecraft doesn't have.
