@AcesHigh Dude...for so long we've needed a new metroid. A new prime would be awesome, but even a new sidescroller done in the "8-bit" indie fashion would be sweet. @MysticX it may be good business sense for nintendo, but it doesnt help the user much. The more people spend on the 3ds the longer it will take for them to get a switch. As long as nintendo follows suit with how they transitioned from GC to Wii, everything should be fine.

I hate how companies milk systems for so long. If the switch is meant to replace both home and portable consoles, let it do so already instead of waiting til the last quarter of the new consoles lifespan as seems to be the trend nowadays

@freaksloan was very disappointed to hear some friends bought 4 to resell on ebay. When i went to the store to consider getting one there was none left....

Either as someone else mentioned its to prevent hackers, or its intended to push people to buy their online service subscription for cloud backups, sorta like PS Plus.

@PlywoodStick Man that stinks. And yeah that's a good way to look at it; something new to explore still.
I unfortunately was still too young to make game console desisions myself back in the golden age. (had to rely on what my mom would allow us to have lol), and always had friends with consoles to try out.
For some reason the dreamcast sorta stood out to me as a kid as something interesting, (also was a bit traumatized by the evil semi truck on sonic adventure lol), and the genesis is one of the earliest consoles i ever played. One of these days i'll grab another saturn off eBay. At least now i have a shell that i retr0bright'ed that i can use on a cheaper less appealing console.

@Anti-Matter It would be awesome if nintendo pulls this off with the switch. But i've just been very disappointed with the games they have been releasing lately. I have high hopes for the new super mario game though. Looks very promising.

@Anti-Matter heh heh. Perhaps...perhaps. But remember, a big issue sega had was selling games. Nintendo seems to lack the support it once had.
Also interesting to note, the sega saturn aka wiiU didnt have a main sonic game, and the wiiU...well lets be honest here, it didnt have a mario game. I see a pattern

I just think region locking is stupid. but the quote from the presentation is "In General We will not apply region locking to nintendo switch software". I just find it sneaky and annoying how they do this. Maybe im just being a pessimist but i could totally see them region locking all the games where the region actually makes a difference. (E.g. xenoblade, fire emblem)

@darkgamer001 lol "region free". did you notice how he worded region free though? in the switch presentation he made it clear that not everything would be region free, but stated it in such a way that only some titles would be region free

The switch wouldve been a pretty solid buy for me, but the lack of launch titles (and not really being a zelda fan) has me turned off to it for now.

@BensonUii well my whole point is that buying the neon console, one would be required to spend 80 bucks on a controller set to have a matching console.

@SLIGEACH_EIRE I'm... lets say 50/50 on disappointment/satisfied with the game lineup. Don't forget the new square enix game, that retro style lookin one. Reminds me of old paper mario, which also having nothing to do with paper mario, has me excited.

Wish you could just get the console with a color set, instead of one blue and one red controller. Dont wanna spend 80 more dollars just to have matching colors

I remember seeing the promotional banners for the Nintendo DS at my local general store, im like what does DS stand for? It has a touch screen?!!??! whaaaaaat!

All these people burning the original DS, but that system was awseome, built like a tank, could drop it anywhere and just start it up, whereas the DSLite those things were always breaking, the GBA carts didnt fit right, and the brighter screen hardly outweighed the perfect GBA fit and the durability of the original.
Kinda wish i still had mine, but i sold it so i could buy the DSI which was amazing!
