Animal Well should be on this list. Platforming and puzzling perfection. Seriously, do NOT let it slip past your radar.
I am of the "80s vintage" and was struck by how Animal Well recaptured the aesthetic and enjoyable exploration -it made me feel like a kid again- yet wrapped it up in tight modern gameplay.
@Teksetter 100% agree on the box art! The book, Art of Atari by Tim Lapetino, showcases and explores this. I would highly recommend it and its poster book companion.
@RupeeClock Out of curiosity, where would one find frames of this particular pokemon? His method seems pretty resourceful, but if you know where better frame references would be I would genuinely like to know.
Actually looks pretty cool! Riding the wolf creature reminds me of the dino riding in the Adventure Island games on the NES. I'll definitely be watching reviews once it launches.
Looking forward to check this out. Love the concept. But I gotta say, don't forget about Steam World Heist when mentioning great turn-based strategy on the switch.
@Darknyht too true. Sometimes limitations force innovation and creativity in really cool ways. I still have fond memories of our c64 (aside from it breaking down often and needing to touch a grounding pad whenever we used it). Skate or Die and a city-destroying monster game come to mind. Flip the disc!
@diablo2 I have given this a bit more thought since I tried the demo this weekend. Not going to lie, it worked really well even on my rural internet and it was a bit uncanny to see the graphics and speed it ran at. However, seeing the $50+ (Canadian) price point, it caused me pause. I have a small collection of games and enjoy buying and selling aftermarket, this would not cater to either. I would agree with @pitchblack that it would fair better as a rental AND on a cloud-specific platform. But Jeepers, it really showed the potential of cloud gaming and to be totally honest, I would consider a purchase of an Assassin's Creed Odyssey or Vahalla cloud version if it was ever available. I'm not one to have multiple consoles, so that's my weak spot.
Meh. It's the equivalent of any online shooter. Also, there has to be a cost for this type of gaming. If we aren't going to pay for in the hardware then it will cost us somewhere else.
@BionicDodo interesting point about the atmosphere. I wonder if it would be akin to a mature Sierra's Space Quest type game. Minus the pointing and clicking.
Looks simple and fun! I will definitely be checking this out. Kind of curious how 6 players works. Hoping my GameCube adapter works with this like it does for Overcooked.
@Rpg-lover totally agree with you. This too is what I had hoped those games in the 80s played as. Montazuma's Revenge comes to mind. Could be wrong though. Almost as if someone cranked Swords and Sworcery up to 11.
@Deadly curious how that would convert to your hours played however. Not defending the game but I think a 'day' of playing will differ greatly between players.
Does it have a story? An end? Or does 'roguelike' render that moot? I'm considering this one over XCOM due to the tech issues the latter seems to be having before a patch comes out.
@Lordplops I miss those days too. I would buy Electronic Gaming Monthly every so often. I remember one in 2001 or 2002 that rounded up the worst games of the year. My buddy and I were in tears laughing from the great writing.
I loved the original back in the 90s. I don't have a beastly computer so the reboots have been out of my reach until now. I'm really looking forward to playing this!
Just saw this today with my elementary school age son. Had a great time actually. I genuinely had some good laughs from Jon Carrey's performance. I'm assuming his ad-libbed portions were the actual funny bits but, the movie overall was not nearly as bad as I had expected. The characters had clear motivations and the plot made sense, more than I could have asked for in a movie like this.
Played the first world of Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime with two buddies one evening last weekend. Then passed the controller after each death in ApeOut. It was a ton of fun. Highly recommend both of those indie games.
Ive been holding on to my Wii due to Bomberman Blast is freaking awesome with multiplayer. Super Bomberman R has had poor reviews but apparently the updates (and now this discount) have made me interested in it again.

Re: Want A Pumpkin Like Animal Crossing's Jack? Here's A Free Stencil To Use This Halloween
I've seen so many "roguelite" and "roguelike" games here that I honestly thought this article was about a "pumpkinlike" game at first.

Re: The Famicase Art Exhibition Is Back
I love all of these. This exhibit is like candy for my imagination. Every year I get a kick out of it.
Tempting to just 3d print some Famicom shells and make some of my own. Hmmm...
Re: Find The Love Of Your Life In Platforming Adventure Sir Lovelot
Considering how tiny his sprite is, I initially thought this was going to be a Lemmings-clone somehow.
Re: Feature: Clammy Consoles, Humid Horrors, And Retro Regrets
@Marchop thanks for the advice!
Re: Feature: Clammy Consoles, Humid Horrors, And Retro Regrets
Is there any way to restore the original grey of the SNES? Mine has turned smoker-lung yellow and it isn't due to any smokers in the house.
Re: Feature: Clammy Consoles, Humid Horrors, And Retro Regrets
@Ooyah I hear you! Vinegar does wonders in those situations.

@Darknyht c64!! Hahaha! You're right! Is that why it feels slightly nostalgic playing them?

Re: Strife: Veteran Edition Shoots To Switch And Nightdive Discounts Its Turok Remasters
I'm a pretty nostalgic dude, but that 90s fps style just doesn't do it for me any more. To each their own I guess.
Re: Hand-Animated Puzzle Adventure LUNA The Shadow Dust Launches On Switch This Week

As a potential desk ornament, it's too bad that Mario's eyes are soulless blackholes when not activated.
Re: New Story DLC For The Outer Worlds Is Coming To Nintendo Switch In The Future
@Bunkerneath, @CTmatic, @Mountain_Man, thanks for clarifying! If I were to buy this game, I'd be one to sell it after.

@patbacknitro18 If you mean Zelda 2 the Adventures of Link, wasn't that in the NES? There is no 'x' button. :/
