Super Mario 64 is arguably one of the most heavily modified retro games to date, and as soon as Super Mario Odyssey's deeper mechanics were shown off at E3, notable rom-hacker Kaze Emanuar set to work injecting these features into the classic N64 title.
We decided to take it for a test-run to see what can be controlled (and how), so make sure you check the video above to see our escapades through the eyes of our enemies.
You can find the hack for yourself through Kaze's YouTube channel.

H-How can they make this kind of stuff so fast?!
You have to get 120 stars and find out if you can control Yoshi on top of the castle. You need to do this for science. We need answers!
Sometimes you guys act like emulation is illegal, other times you link to ROMs and post videos of your staff playing romhacks.
…ok
6:42 If Alex is allowed to swear on Nintendo Life, why aren't we? XD
It's Fandabidozi!
for those who are interested i will be modifying this "new" version of the game so that you can have more control over certain characters. besides it would be nice not to get trapped in a fish tank....lmao
Thumbs up for your Cap-tivated performance.
@PatHawks emulation is a non-issue if you own the game
Very good video!
I remember when those polygons representing Bowser looked amazing.
@iPlayNintendo That's a simplification, but yeah, that's why it's so frustrating when they call it a "notorious grey area"

@iPlayNintendo This is false. There is no rule saying you can emulate if you own a game, unless I'm horribly mistaken.
I tried it out and it was pretty cool. I threw the hat then entered the main castle door. It got confused thinking I was inside but was outside. When I went theu the door to go in i was actually out. Was funny but I had to reset. Also took over the Big Bobomb on the summit. Didn't try to make him jump off the edge though.
