Re: Pokémon Let's Go Pikachu and Eevee Director Explains Why Motion Controls Are Mandatory

QuixoticRocket

Well this just put me off the game. Last time I had to deal with motion controls was trying to do a BotW dungeon puzzle while on the tube (you know the one where you roll a ball through a maze). 20 minutes of frustration I saved until I was off the tube and then did it in about a minute once sitting still. I'd much rather it were optional so I could use it when I want, and still be able to play on the tube (where I spend most of my handheld time).

Re: June's European My Nintendo Rewards Include ARMS, Mario, Zelda And More

QuixoticRocket

@PtM it’s really not worth the email. i don’t care about the wallpaper but the business practice is anti-consumer.

they basically rereleased the wallpaper and blocked access to the old one. i bought the new one (because platinum coins are worthless) and compared it to an old copy i had of the original and they’re identical.

so we have lacklustre rewards for platinum coins and they’re not even secure, with big N removing them for no good reason. It just makes platinum coins even more pointless

Re: June's European My Nintendo Rewards Include ARMS, Mario, Zelda And More

QuixoticRocket

So I just noticed that some of the new wallpapers (like the splatoon ones) are identical to some from before, and yet I am able to purchase them again. So I went back in the logs to find the old downloads page (Horrible horrible user experience. we need a "my rewards" page that simply lists our purchased rewards).

The old wallpaper HAS EXPIRED! - "This reward is no longer available." it says. No download options available.

I mean it was only 50 platinum coins that would have expired which is the only reason why I bothered, but still. Wow Ninty, that's some EA level bull you're pulling. Effectively taking away a wallpaper I've purchased so you can sell it to me again.

Re: June's European My Nintendo Rewards Include ARMS, Mario, Zelda And More

QuixoticRocket

Would it be too much to ask for them to give away in-game items for platinum coins? How about a mario themed tshirt in splatoon 2 for a couple hundred platinum coins? A unique reskin weapon in the rabbids / mario crossover for 500 platinum coins? etc etc.

That's the sort of thing that would make this reward program engaging.

More wallpapers? You can grab loads of good wallpapers simply by doing an image search in your favourite search engine, or simply grab the promo art off the official websites and use those.

Re: Resident Evil 7 Coming To Switch In Japan

QuixoticRocket

Action games are very sensitive to wifi hiccups and lag. When playing multiplayer the information passed back and forth is streamlined as much as possible for the best games. Adding visual info to that would be like streaming a movie from netflix while expecting the response times of a locally downloaded console game.

If they can pull it off then awesome, but we'll have to wait and see...

Re: Random: Nintendo Lands Itself In Hot Water With Norway

QuixoticRocket

the UK eshop has a link in the online eshop (at the co.uk site) with right to cancel that seems to lead to a wii-u page about the nintendo network that has rights to cancel within 14 days.

"RIGHT TO CANCEL (Digital content)

You have the right to cancel this contract within 14 days without giving any reason.
The cancellation period will expire after 14 days from the day of the conclusion of the contract."

you have to send in a form, and i have no idea what the pre-order limit is (i just went to a random game i didn't own and scrolled down to find it).

not sure if this is the same thing (i guess some preorders are longer than a 14 day period?)

Re: 3DS System Update 10.1.0-27 Available Now, Hackers Undaunted

QuixoticRocket

@Galenmereth as an english speaking customer it may not bring you any real benefit because you can import an american version and put up with minor localization differences... however losing the english speaking market may make it not worth it to localize into the other EU languages (what is it: german, spanish, french usually?) and so those customers definitely DO get something out of it.

BUT having said that: how many people actually ever import instead of buying from a local store? I don't have the numbers but i bet it's a tiny percentage. and if it is a tiny percentage then there is no real defense for region locking. what cuts deeper into publisher profits is the 2nd hand market. but that is a whole other kettle of fish.

if region-free would kill a game company then xbox and playstation would probably have died off already. technically the publishers there can region lock games, but i think there's been a total of maybe 3 games that actually ever got region locked.

but this is all opinion. i don't have numbers to back any of this up. just musing and throwing out some counterpoints for discussion's sake.

Re: GAME Processes Additional Charges on Super Mario Maker Pre-Orders

QuixoticRocket

After they screwed up my last preorder I stopped using them completely and moved the last preorder I did have onto Amazon.
It's a pity because some of the guys in the stores are cool. But I'm not supporting their inept online bull. It's given me way too many hassles before.
Try changing the delivery address of a preorder >.< nope.. cancel it and re-preorder it. Seriously? That system needs some work.

Re: Reggie Fils-Aime Asks for Fan Trust With Metroid Prime: Federation Force

@khaosklub
https://www.change.org/p/nintendo-petition-for-cancelation-of-metroid-prime-federation-force
"Help us stop this atrocity of a game from bearing the beloved Metroid franchise name and make Nintendo halt production on it."
Major overreaction. I can understand people dismissing it. I can understand people not liking it. We all have opinions and tastes. I personally will give this a chance.
But petition to cancel is internet rage and completely out of proportion.

Besides: If you really want to hit back at Nintendo then make them spend all the money developing it and then don't buy it. Far more of a lesson to them than stopping it now.

(of course if it's actually a good game then everyone else will buy it and there is no lesson, but then it's a good game!!)

Re: Reggie Fils-Aime Asks for Fan Trust With Metroid Prime: Federation Force

QuixoticRocket

@FeedingTheWheel
I don't know.. I definitely see some Prime in it.
And Prime was a big change from the real original games, but it worked and people liked it (not everyone sure).
All I'm really trying to say is let's not condemn things before they've had a chance.
You're allowed an opinion obviously, but people signing petitions to get a game cancelled because they think that it might not be to their taste (even though they don't even have all the facts about it)? That's too far.

Re: Reggie Fils-Aime Asks for Fan Trust With Metroid Prime: Federation Force

QuixoticRocket

@Nintendo_Ninja
And yet it's getting 91% from critics and 7.8/10 from users on metacritic.
The Halo "fans" also claimed that ODST was the death of the franchise and not a real Halo game, and then they said the same thing about Halo 4... I'm not so sure these "fans" are actually fans. All they want is an HD remake.. and then a 4K remake and then a holographic remake of Halo 1.

Maybe they should just release an HD version of the first metroid. Sharpen up the sprites, make it widescreen. Never actually make a new game. Fans HATE new games.

I am only being slightly sarcastic. Without actually seeing much about the game people are signing petitions to have it cancelled? Those are NOT fans. Those are nihilistic whiners who don't want to take a chance on anything.

If you don't like it, don't buy it. But don't be surprised when the rest of the world pick it up and you get left behind mumbling into your beer, alone at the bar about how game X was the death of the franchise.

At least wait and see if it's a bad game. Then complain it erodes the Metroid universe. Premature complaints are just... sad.

Re: Reggie Fils-Aime Asks for Fan Trust With Metroid Prime: Federation Force

QuixoticRocket

Halo: Reach didn't star Master Chief but I really enjoyed it. Let's judge this game on its own merits. If we're lucky it'll expand the Metroid universe with richer background and history which can only be good for the series.
If we're unlucky then it'll be a minor glitch that everyone will forget.

Sure I'd like a new Samus title too, but I also like new IP and different takes on old IP. If you don't ever want innovation then just pick up the VC games and replay them.

I'd rather they try a few times, fail a few times, and succeed once with a brilliant game than never try and churn games out FIFA style - new year, new skin, publish.

Just my 2c

Re: Clear Display Cases Show Off amiibo in Style

QuixoticRocket

If you're keeping them for collector purposes then they stay in their original packaging. If you're using them to play with then I don't see the point of the display case.
It's nice, but not really worth it IMO. But to each their own I guess.

Re: International StreetPass Week to Bring New StreetPass Games, a Free HOME Theme and 'Exotic' Mii Characters

QuixoticRocket

@Charlosa I guess you'll just need to wear your best Ninty T-shirt and hope other 3DS users are attracted to it?
Most of my hits are on the underground. I do pass through Victoria and Earl's Court which normally have a lot of people on it so even a low % of users can still give me a few hits.
It was better when I was going to King's Cross. That normally got me a lot of hits.

Re: Shiny Charizard Distribution Coming to GAME in the UK

QuixoticRocket

@Konda no. They mean they will print out a receipt with the code on it.
You don't need to have bought the game there or show them anything.
All you do is go to the counter and ask for the pokemon and the will print out a code for you.
It's just a way of building community with the store, it's a free give away.

Re: Shiny Charizard Distribution Coming to GAME in the UK

QuixoticRocket

@Konda
definitely free from game.
http://instore.game.co.uk/fun-in-store/#Pokemon

"Get your very own free Shiny Charizard, exclusively at GAME. Simply visit your local GAME store as of 3rd April 2015 to pick up your free Pokémon for Pokémon Omega Ruby, Pokémon Alpha Sapphire, Pokémon X and Pokémon Y. No purchase is necessary, simply pop down to your nearest store to receive a code via receipt and follow the instructions below!"
followed by instructions on how to receive a pokemon using a code.

Re: Shiny Charizard Distribution Coming to GAME in the UK

QuixoticRocket

@ikki5 hah. I don't hide the fact i play pokemon. I'm too old to care what other people think of my hobbies. My 3DS is the Pikachu limited edition and I play it openly on the tube. The only reason I haven't gotten a new 3DS yet is because I expect a Pokemon limited edition soon and I'd rather have that than a plain one.

I was more suggesting for @kupocake who is 28 and could feasibly have a younger brother at the (so-called) "right" age.
