Another week begins, and as always we have the Nintendo Download Update for Europe to kick it off. The major arrival this week is the first New Nintendo 3DS exclusive, while there's also a rather zen puzzle experience on the 3DS eShop. There are plenty of discounts to consider too, so let's get to it.
Wii U eShop Temporary Discounts
Gravity Badgers (Wales Interactive, €2.49 / £2.49 until 29th April, normally €4.99 / £4.99)
Citizens of Earth (Atlus, €7.99 / £6.69 until 9th April, normally €11.99 / £9.99)
3DS eShop
KAMI (CIRCLE Entertainment, €2.99 / £2.39) - A clever and visually appealing paper-based puzzle title in which you create folds for a relaxing experience. A hand-crafted Japanese paper theme and 63 puzzles come together well in this one, as we gave it a solid recommendation in our KAMI review.
New Nintendo 3DS Retail Download
Xenoblade Chronicles 3D (Nintendo, €44.99 / £39.99) - The first release exclusive to the New Nintendo 3DS, the impressive Wii RPG from Monolith Soft is brought across to the portable by Monster Games. It's a technical marvel to see this adventure on a small screen, and this is an experience that's demanding yet rewarding, with daunting depth and a campaign that requires dozens of hours to complete. We were very impressed in our Xenoblade Chronicles 3D review, describing it as "the biggest world we've experienced on such small screens."
3DS eShop Temporary Discounts
Aqua Moto Racing 3D (Zordix AB, €3.99 / £3.59 until 9th April, normally €7.99 / £7.19)
Tappingo (CIRCLE Entertainment, €1.99 / £1.69 until 23rd April, normally €2.99 / £2.49)
The Legend of Dark Witch (CIRCLE Entertainment, €2.99 / £2.99 until 23rd April, normally €3.99 / £3.49)
European Conqueror 3D (CIRCLE Entertainment, €2.99 / £2.19 until 23rd April, normally €3.99 / £2.99)
Citizens of Earth (Atlus, €7.99 / £6.69 until 9th April, normally €11.99 / £9.99)
10-in-1: Arcade Collection (Gamelion, €0.99 / £0.89 until 30th April, normally €1.99 / £1.79)
Crazy Kangaroo (Gamelion, €0.99 / £0.89 until 30th April, normally €1.99 / £1.89)
PIX3D (Gamelion, €1.99 / £1.79 until 30th April, normally €3.99 / £3.59)

SpeedX 3D Hyper Edition (Gamelion, €0.99 / £0.89 until 30th April, normally €1.99 / £1.79)
Pick-A-Gem (Gamelion, €1.49 / £1.29 until 30th April, normally €2.99 / £2.69)
Monster Shooter (Gamelion, €1.99 / £1.60 until 30th April, normally €4.00 / £3.20)
Hazumi (Gamelion, €1.99 / £1.60 until 30th April, normally €3.99 / £3.20)
3DS eShop Permanent Price Drop
Van Helsing sniper Zx100 (EnjoyUp Games, €2.99 / £2.69, was €6.66 / £6.66)

Can't wait for Xenoblade! Never got round to playing it on the Wii, so the perfect opportunity to now, especially as Shulk has become my go-to fighter in Smash Bros!
WTF!? That's it for the Wii U!? I hope a direct this week with additional announcements.
Edit:
No I don't hope so. They better damn have a Nintendo Direct this week with more releases for the Wii U this week.
Wah! Shocking week this week. Pathetic actually. Xenoblade is awesome, sure, but there is no way I'm downloading it!
I might get Hazumi, but that's it. Azure Striker GUNVOLT is nowhere to be seen which might point to a Direct later this week but at this point I just stopped caring about it.
Nothing for me. For someday Xenoblade for 3DS would be cool, but since it has only English voicetrack - no thanks.
There's no chance this is everything, Nintendo Direct confirmed!
Just tried the citizens of earth demo. May get it at this discount, either that or Zelda II NES or Shovel Knight
After the week the Wii U has had,this is what we get to keep us happy.I think Grumblevolcano is spot on,Direct incoming.
I'd have grabbed a couple of those discounted 3DS games if they were available to us here in Australia. Since they aren't, it's just the retail version of Xenoblade Chronicles 3D (which I have been highly anticipating) for me this week.
I agree that the absence of Azure Gunvolt is odd, particularly since the game page was still active last I checked the eShop. If it does release I will definately pick that up too (Hopefully we get Mighty Gunvolt with it as well).
In regards to a Nintendo Direct, as I've stated before, I feel it's more likely we will get one mid-late April rather than now. I do hope I'm wrong though because I, like many others, am hanging out for another one.
Direct incoming for sure, that list is suspect.
I'll be getting Gunvolt, which you seem to have missed off the list...
@OrangeCluster
I don't recommend Hazumi, it's a game that demands perfect controls and yet fails to deliver them.
@RupeeClock Hmm, the reviews seemed fairly positive though.
@OrangeCluster
I just found it to be a frustrating experience, not rewarding for the player who wants to 3-star every stage but then promptly finds that the timing isn't up to snuff.
The controls have this awkward physics to them where collisions seem off and colliding results in a very stiff fixed "bounce" off the wall.
So as usual the AVGN game comes only in North America then? Europe gets nothing?
Oh yeah and wasn't Azure Striker Gunvolt supposed to come out this week?
Just to clarify, I checked the eShop again (Australian) and while I notice the Azure Gunvolt page has been removed, I happen to have added it my watch list prior to this. As a result I still have access to the page and it does still list it as a 3rd of April release.
Whether or not a Nintendo Direct is planned for the next couple of days to announce this, I'm not sure, but it does seem like we will be getting it regardless. My guess is it will likely be confirmed via the developer's twitter page, much like previous announcements.
And I thought I'd add it has a $16.90 (Australian) price tag for those who are interested.
Very poor week. Que the "Nintendo have abandoned Wii U" from the usual crowd. 400+ posts incoming
@Ootfan98
From one of Kotaku's 'shop contest:
They've abandoned the Wii U for this:
@outburst hehehe
Wait, that's it?! Suspicious...
Hu nothing for wiiu?? There so many wiiu vc games they still need to bring ((
I thought Azure Striker was being released this week, what happened?
Nothing for me this week. That's 3 weeks in a row! Though I voted Xenoblade because I loved it on the Wii.
Talking about WiiU, don't forget that Project Cars will be available only on April 1st...
Nothing new on WiiU? Ouch!
Did it happen before that there was not a single wiiu title?Anybody knows ?
@outburst
Saw that also on Kotaku, I would purchase a product such as this if Nintendo made their own mobile device. The photo is meant for irony but I believe something like this could work.
Nintendo must believe we all have 3ds along the Wii U...Jesus, what a scarce week...where the hell is wii's Pandora's Tower? Wasn't it already out in Japan?
I might get Citizens of Earth.
But only two new games, and both on 3DS?
Gonna skip Xenoblade. Don't need it. Ill wait for X to come out later this year (hopefully)
This sure was disappointing. I really expected more, especially since it's easter.
Yawn.
I want to play Xenoblade again but the only English voice option is a damn shame. A lot of people seem to like it but its SO BAD imo, so bad.
Wow............
This horrible update for Wii U this week confirms Gamecube, Nintendo 64 and Nintendo DS for Virtual Console.
In my dreams. But. A Nintendo Direct, Onegaishimasu, Iwata-chan and Shibata-chan.
Weak week on the WiiU. Where is the VC? GBA? Wii?
No spam please.-MorphMarron
I don't think Nintendolife has had their cup of coffee yet. They missed off the Wii U stuff lol...
lol?...
erm....really?
Nothing for easter!?! I would think, that it would be more favourable launch day, than most other days at spring.
I have waited for local multiplayer game for easter holiday for YEARS.
Xenoblade is horribly overpriced at £40 for a digital port. I don't own a NN3DSXL, and everything else is terrible, so nothing.
Wow, I could understand no retail or indie downloads, but no VC to fill the void, WTF. I'm sure there must be a few VC games kicking around that they could sell us.
@Desy64 I want Pandora's Tower and The Last Story! Those are Wii games that are MUST's on the virtual console: Why? Because they are horribly overpriced discs, for just SECOND HAND!
@GrailUK But they're BRITS, they only drink tea
@whodatninja Are they? I might get a buck or two for The Last Story then...
But I really want to play Pandora's Tower, TLS was a tad disappointing game..
Can someone send me a Gravity Badgers download code in exchange for either a Duck Hunt (NES), Metroid Fusion (GBA), Mario&Luigi Superstar Saga (GBA), WarioWare (GBA), F-Zero Maximum Velocity (GBA), A Link to the Past (SNES), Art Academy SketchPad (Wii U) or Pikmin Short Movies (Wii U/3DS) download code?
Just checked out Club Nintendo. How long have they been offering full game downloads for stars? Did I miss something?
@Xenjamin of course it is English only, the game is already big enough as it is and adding the Japanese voice option would just increase the size of it a lot ore.
@whodatninja
that is why I pre-ordered them when it came up. They were easy to get, they didn't run into the issues that amiibo had or anything. I just knew they would be hard to find because of how long they took to get here plus the fact that they were talking about not even having them show up here.
@RJBurgess It is quite recent. Since a couple of weeks ago
@RJBurgess About a week. When it launched they had some glitches like labeling all GBA games as being for 3DS; not Wii U. All but Zelda Minish Cap would only redeem on a Wii U though. Minish Cap was then removed from the stars catalogue and brought back (so it is safe to assume that "glitch" is fixed).
@Desy64 Yeah I guess so! The Last Story is much harder to find than Pandora's Tower.
@OorWullie Will nintendo even be aware enough to have a direct? Even when They're kicking the wii u while it's down its like they're indifferent to their problems rather than lazy.
Omg just keeps getting worse n worse for wii u!! How could there be absolutely nothing?!?!? Jesus!!! This is y sony and Microsoft are pounding them in the ground!!
I might pick up xenoblade at some point, though I wish that home theme was available for physical releases as well as eshop downloads.
@Xenjamin The British version is the best version. FACT!
I'm pretty sure this is the first time we haven't had
a VC game in forever...maybe the lack of games for Wii U hints at a Nintendo Direct.
"One of the Wii U eShop temporary discounts"
Well somebody was feeling quite lazy this Monday morning.
Nobody in their right mind would do a Direct on April Fools day, so Wednesday it is then
@Kolzig There are plenty of releases Europe has that America doesn't, so it evens out.
IDK how many games you guys play, but I always find something on Wii U,even in dry spells!
I'm done with all these droughts.
I still have Wii Xenoblade sitting around waiting to be played (unbelievable as that sounds), so there really isn't anything interesting this week. I wish SEGA would get round to releasing more 3D classics!!!
Aww, no Yoshi theme for Easter.
CHECK out Hazumi http://bit.ly/1CCKhLp at half price thats a complete steal i reckon.
@andreoni79 nice!
Will get one or two of the discounts, but probably wait on Xenoblade a bit. I have to finish a few other RPG's first before I can free some time to delve into it. Bad week for Wii U, huh?
@whodatninja No way!
nothing this week. I'm waiting a bit for xenoblade because I'm not finished majora 3d yet and am also playing persona 4 atm
You European better be get Xenoblade. It is for your own good😃
@rippertnl Hmm...not to my knowledge. I think this is the most paltry EU Wii U Downloads PR in eShop history.
Would have got citizens of earth if it wasn't so buggy,horrible week for wii u.
Citizens of Earth looks good to me! Nintendo world is awfully parched in terms of games...
Weak week on 3DS (like the past few weeks)? Business as usual.
Weak week on Wii U? WTF Nintendo. Nintendo Direct confirmed!
That about sums up this comment section. The hypocrisy is real.
Might be about time to open up those Virtual Console barrels marked N64, DS, and Turbografx games Nintendo (Seriously, I'll pick up every TG16 and N64 release as you release them!)
@Kat it's not a port. They added a bunch of stuff.
I think a Direct is coming! The last day to register a code in Club Nintendo in NA is tomorrow and if you look at the "Club Nintendo program discontinuation schedule", it says that the 2015 Elite Status games will be available from April 1 to April 30th.
Not gonna lie, this is probably the weakest update i've ever seen.
@Angelic_Lapras_King I want them to open up the Virtual Console barrel named "Fire Emblem". Give NA Sacred Stones as well as everywhere Shadow Dragon, Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn
@Kolzig
It's weird, really. Especially considering that, given the official AVGN videos are subbed in my native Italian language, it's safe to assume the same happened with every other European language, or at least the remaining three in the "big five" of localization (English, French, German, Italian and Spanish), and therefore a localization of the game itself shouldn't be out of the question, either.
As for this week, coincidence has it that I got a New 3DS last saturday, so I could at least take a look at Xenoblade.
@Kat
Ironically, my girlfriend has your very same nickname (full name Katherine), and sports a beauty mark just like your avatar (although my Kat has it between mouth and chin). Very off-topic, but the coincidence prompted me to point it out.
@AlexSora89 That is indeed an interesting coincidence.
@faint It is a port. It has extra content, sure, but it's still the same game. I'd love to play it at some point, but spending £250 just to play one game doesn't sound like much fun.
Yeah. Xbox it is!
I think this is the most paltry EU Wii U Downloads PR in eShop history.
We've had worse on the Wii.
Physical copy of Xenoblade 3D and no downloads for me this week.
I've got a backlog though, it's not the end of the world.
I honestly gave up on a direct...
Concur with all the above re the really disappointing WiiU showing.
Direct would be nice. Don't understand Ninty sometimes - how hard is it to put some VC games out?
@Kat
Sure it is! As for your other reply, well, I bought the New 3DS last weekend for completely unrelated reasons (circle pad weakened by Super Smash Bros, need for a longer-lasting battery, faster loading times), and in fact I found it for 150 €, which is a relatively cheap price all things considered. Sure, the need for the bigger RAM for Xenoblade feels like a backstab towards earlier 3DS owners, but truth be told, the same could be said about Super Paper Mario starting off as a GameCube title and ending up as a Wii exclusive (yeah, this story keeps getting forgotten). So... for now, the new handheld is well worth it (the only downside is the "super-stable 3D" which has only been an eyesore for me so far, but then again, it can be turned off... and so I did); I wouldn't consider Xenoblade Chronicles 3D more than an added bonus for owning the console.
Don't worry about the wii u folks, Starfox is on the horizon
If I had a New3dS I would be getting Xenoblade this week. Oh well **sad face**
Hmm, I would like Citizens of earth Wii u version. But then I heard it has some game-crashing glitches. Maybe I should wait untill that gets solved?
Pretty pitiful selection on Wii U, but I guess that's no surprise. It's been that way pretty much since it launched. Just more evidence that Nintendo is letting the Wii U die a slow death.
@Xenjamin
Wohoo! Someone agreeing with me about the English voice in XC! Besidse, now that Jenna Coleman (Melia) has been in Doctor Who, I don't think I could take it seriously..
For me, I don't think discussion in English would be that bad but since they shout all the time in battle, it annoys me and it is less annoying in Japanese.
@Bass_X0 I assume you must be talking about weeks where instead of nothing, some games being removed (that's the only possible thing that could be worse than this week's current list).
@Grumblevolcano did it happen that they removed games?? Why would you do that :S I really hope this is a bad joke from nintendo and we will get some vc games this thursday!
@rippertnl Yes, for example the DKC trilogy was removed from Wii VC when the Wii U was released (though it came back at the same time as the Wii U VC release).
Anybody know when Streets of Rage 2 3D is coming out? It was
Ooh. Azure Striker Gunvolt? This piqued my interest. I may have to try it out.
@Desy64 @Starwolf_UK
Thanks! I thought for a minute there I'd stumbled upon the reason for Nintendo offering such a poor selection of downloads for the week. Of course now we know it's because of all the N64 and DS releases now in the pipeline. Exciting times.
@RJBurgess i'm a bit disappointed actually as I feel SM64 suffers from poor framerate and awful sound. This or I forgot how it was in the original 64
