Re: Movie Review: The Super Mario Galaxy Movie - A Faithful But Overstuffed Sequel

Quarbit

Why is everyone so defensive of this movie? I admit I was a bit of a fanboy when I was a kid, but you're supposed to grow out of that nonsense when you get real things to worry about in life. We have grown adults with children in this comment section insulting critics and anyone who doesn't like this movie. It's embarrassing.

It's okay if you like this movie. It's okay if you don't. It's a movie.

Re: Round Up: The Reviews Are In For The Super Mario Galaxy Movie

Quarbit

haha, so many fanboys here who can't handle the movie getting bad reviews. I wasn't expecting a masterpiece, but I do expect more than just a bunch of references to the games. The Sonic movies and the Fallout TV series are fantastic, so it's sad that Mario can't be more than just a lazy kids' movie.

Re: PS5 Gets An Insane Price Increase – Will Nintendo Follow Suit?

Quarbit

You guys need to chill with the doomposting. RAM and SSD prices are sky-high due to massive demand from AI data centers. In a couple of years, manufacturing will adjust and AI data centers will have built reducing demand and prices will come down. It does suck if you want to buy a system today, but it's not the death of gaming.

Re: Fox McCloud Blasts Into The Super Mario Galaxy Movie

Quarbit

You know, this makes sense. Why separate Nintendo characters into their own universes? Star Fox, Pikmin, Starfy, Kirby, and Mario can all exist in the same galaxy. Zelda and Metroid should be separate since they're more mature, but the cartoonish Nintendo characters should live together.

Re: PSA: Pokémon FireRed And LeafGreen Switch Preloads Are Now Live

Quarbit

All of this arguing over the price is so silly. People are treating it like an ethical issue and it's not. It's basic supply and demand. Revenue = Number of sales * (price - production_cost), so companies will choose the ideal price point to maximize revenue. It's just basic math.

And on the consumer side, we're not talking about insulin here that people need to live. If the price point is too high for you, don't buy it. Don't get angry and attack Nintendo for being greedy. Just don't buy it. There's plenty of other games to buy.

$20 is not a lot of money and plopping it down for a convenient way to relive some nostalgia is a fair price for some people. I don't give a crap about Pokemon, so I'm not buying it, but I get why people are.

Re: PSA: Dispatch's 'Visual Censorship' Settings Can't Be Removed On Switch

Quarbit

I mean, guys, Nintendo's primary demographic is children and they want to present themselves as a family-friendly company that parents can trust with their kids. It makes perfect sense why Nintendo would force censor a high-profile game with sexual content like this. If you want to play it uncensored, there's plenty of other platforms to do it on.

Re: Talking Point: How Do You Play NES Games These Days?

Quarbit

I have an RGB-Modded NES, a Retrotink 5, and a EverDrive N8 Pro. That's the gold standard for retro gaming, but I never use it. If I want to play NES games, I play on my PC or Steam Deck. Emulation is far more convenient, the graphics are better, runahead makes up for any latency issues caused by the emulation, and you have infinite controller options.

Original hardware sucks.

Re: Talking Point: Is Hollow Knight: Silksong Too Difficult?

Quarbit

What annoys me about this discussion is that most games that come out are trivially easy and boring for people who like challenge. However, when the rare game comes out that's actually difficult, everyone starts whining and demands changes. It's so entitled.

Not every game is for everyone.
