Re: Shigeru Miyamoto Isn't Convinced Another IP Will Surpass Mario Kart's Sales

Profchaos

It's not impossible but if I'm being honest I didn't love mkw like I loved previous games mainly 64 and Wii if releases continued to be that quality just more washed out colours and bland open world design with these boring stretches between tracks and all tracks feel samey I can see their popularity lowering

The bundle status helped dramatically though

Re: Sega Provides Updated Sales Figures For Sonic Frontiers And Sonic Superstars

Profchaos

Yeah superstars wasn't terrible but it wasn't good.

It had a really strong start but in the last few acts you had boss encounters that took 15 minutes each to progress past and some level gimmicks like the cyber zones mouse section that just didn't land or were fun at first which became annoying. It's not like this is the first sonic to have a level gimmick e.g spinning tops or rotating platforms in carnival night zone in s3 but those were not that bad compared to this.

Add the fact you couldn't hit bosses more than once and the fact that any good stages came largely in the first 3 acts it's not a game I ever want to revisit while the others I still replay them.

The co op play was a selling point but it felt largely broken in a sonic game and could have been done better with split screen

Re: Croc Remaster Will Definitely Have Our Full, Undivided Attention On Launch Day

Profchaos

@Shepdawg1 have to remember it is a multi plat it was delayed from December to April and they've been promoting it for a while.

The direct is very exciting but I don't think it will hurt the games sales in fact they could already have it present in the switch 2 direct as available now on ns1 and coming to ns2 upgrade for free that has been proven to drive sales when PS5 and Xbox series released they had a run on old games that had free upgrades

Re: Split Fiction Dev Knows "A Lot" About Switch 2, But Can't Say Anything Yet

Profchaos

That's about as clear as a message that I need to know that split fiction is coming to ns2.

I played it takes two recently with my wife who isn't really a gamer beyond Mario kart and hands down it was one of the better gaming experiences I've ever had I did t expect to love it so much even on the original switch which really started struggling in the snow levels.

I could get split fiction on ps5 but I think I'll hold out for ns2

Re: Yooka-Replaylee Art Team Highlight Laylee's New Fluffiness In Remaster

Profchaos

So the question is what are the platforms this is coming to it certainly won't be the switch given the original was smartly tweaked from the PS4 version to be able to run excellently within the confines of the handheld. Ps5 and xsx is confirmed but the fact that Nintendo life is publishing this is it a hidden message for switch 2 support and what if the update path

Re: Donkey Kong Country Returns HD Costs $60 On Switch

Profchaos

Are the changes significant enough to warrant paying full RRP in my opinion no in fact by all accounts this HD version is worse than the Wii version missing visual effects and is it really all the enhanced.

I still have a Wii connected to a retrotink so I'm very happy with my older consoles and games being upscaled I don't see a need to buy this version but if I didn't I would still hold out for a cheap second hand copy because the care simply isn't there on this one which is a shame because out of returns and tropical freeze I say returns is the better game.

But also the value of the game is overpriced when you're reselling a Wii game with basic visual tweaks and a game like tears of the kingdom for near the same price (actually dk cost more in my region) you can't tell me the same amount of effort went into remastering dk as did totks physics

Re: Talking Point: One Year On, Has Everyone Beaten Ganondorf In Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom?

Profchaos

I actually beat botw around 35 hours in but totk took me 100 hours to get to the end of the game and beat him.

Based on that alone I feel the scope of the game was giant and if a lot of gamers can't even get through a standard fps campaign my estimate of players that actually beat years was probably about 25 odd percent.

However in my view tork.is easily the more superior game over botw there's just more to do and experiment with I enjoyed the story more overall I felt it was better but U get why botw is considered better by others

Re: Rumour: Microsoft Will Bring Critically Acclaimed Exclusive To "Competitor System" This Year

Profchaos

I'm doubtful hi fi rush never got a Xbox one release and is solely a Xbox series release. So it makes very little sense that it would come to switch given the capabilities of the switch are realistically under the Xbox one (hard pill to swallow for some for some reason but think logically).

However the listing is rival systems this year I'm about 99% certain we will get a switch successor this year so it could be a game for that.

Alternatively I could see sea of Thieves coming to switch and PS4/5 as it's a live service game with micro transactions so ms would generate money from sales and content also it's highly scalable with extremely weak PC's running it just fine.

Re: Feature: Why I Still Love My Wii U

Profchaos

I really wanted to like the Wii U but the gamepad for me was the biggest barrier to my enjoyment of the system it never felt right to actually hold the pro controller put the right stick at the top where the buttons should be and it just crippled my enjoyment of it.

I got some value out of the first party games but the third party stuff felt and often was worse then on the at the time basically last gen 360 and PS3 due to the duel rendering requirements. I'll never forget picking up watchdogs on the Wii U on still scared to this day it was like playing a slideshow.

The Wii U for me didn't gel for a long time and it was probably only during the past 12 months I discovered homebrew and it became my go to retro station to be clear I don't condone piracy games that can be purchased on modern systems absolutely should but bringing back my all time favourite nes games that you can't buy or have murky rights issues or defunct developers it transformed the Wii U to being one of my favourite systems the dpad works really well and feels much better than the switch pro controller overall.

In conflicted about the Wii U for what it was meant to be I didn't gek with it at all but for what it wasn't meant to be it became my favourite system

Re: Poll: What's Your Switch Controller Of Choice For Super Mario Bros. Wonder?

Profchaos

I'd love to use the NES controller as someone who grew up playing the NES Mario feels so natural to control with two buttons and a dpad.

But given the badge system requires the use of the r button I just assumed I was out of luck I Googled this so much but concluded it would be impossible.

The pro controller dpad just doesn't feel great unfortunately but it's better than joycon buttons
