Well folks, the weekend is here, which means it's time to kick back, forget the stress of the working week, and play some games.

It's been quite the week for Nintendo fans. Gamescom ONL revealed some pretty sweet treats for us, not least in the form of The Witcher III: Wild Hunt- Remastered for Switch 2, an improved version of Geralt's most recent adventure that's absolutely free for current owners of the Switch game.

There was also some controversy regarding the reveal trailer for James Pond Legacy, which many folks believe may have been constructed using generative AI. The publisher denied this, but no one is really convinced...

Finally, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4's beta has kicked off on Switch 2, so we provided some thoughts on the sole campaign mission that you can try out for free right now.

Reviews this week include:

Okay, let's see what everybody is up to this weekend...

I'd like to tell you I'm playing Elden Ring this weekend, but that won't be the case – yet.

Instead, I'll be diving into Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 with MGS4: Guns of the Patriots (a review is on its way!). I played this to death back in 2008 – and multiple times since – and I simply can't wait to see how it plays on Switch 2. It still blows my mind that it's now free from its PS3 chains. It feels so wrong, yet so right.

I restarted Elden Ring early last year with a mage build and was having a fantastic time with it. Then the Switch 2 reveal came along and I decided to pause everything — I didn’t want to get too far, only to have to repeat it all over again in what would surely be a matter of months. Those months turned into another year, but I’m finally about to dive in all over again on Switch and I am excited!! Gosh, what a game.

I've been jonesing for a big open-world adventure for a while, and with Oblivion, Elden Ring, and now next month's Witcher III remaster, I'm spoiled for choice.

Unfortunately, an insomnia-inspired dip back into Tears of the Kingdom this week may have scuppered my plans. There's just so much I have left to do in that game! Whenever I return, I have a great time. I can play it with my kids watching. It performs beautifully on Switch 2. It has an assortment of funny hats...

So, do I drop €70 and finally dive into the The Lands Between whenever the kids are out of the room, or crack on with the game I already own and continue our post-Ocarina Zelda-filled summer adventures? I'm thinking the latter. Love those funny hats. Have a great one, folks.

This weekend is probably a mix of Big Walk and Fields of Mistria. Very similar, really: both involve your character picking up their feet and putting them back down a whole bunch.

Those are our plans, but what about yours? Let us know what you'll be slapping in your Switch (2) in the poll below:
