Ok... So after reading some threads... Looks like @ACK is correct. User error may be playing a large part in this thanks for pointing out the Thumb Drive thingy...
@ACK actually... There were bad sectors on the drive for MANY of the consoles.., which only occurred after Smash save data. I still have my receipt (and my memory of a 20 minute long discussion with the repair guy)... What I was unaware of was the lack of physical repair shops around the states. I was lucky and only had to drive 30 some-odd miles and wait an hour for my unit.
@Joruus_Cbaoth you sir, have no dog in this hunt. My copy of Smash for Wii required a physical update (of the Wii itself!) in order to even PLAY Smash... Hush. You'll ruin the moment.
I don't understand... His system worked fine, up until he accessed SSB... So, how is this "bricking" the system? Do we all not remember that the Wii version of this game had issues as well? I know, I had to take my Wii in for an "update" as SSB didn't work... if this happens due to people "shutting off the power during the save screen" well, you have been told on numerous occasions never to do that.
@thebigN if my "storage-paranoia" hadn't kicked in while making my decision, I would have gone the same route (as it is I picked up the 32gb model with an external 2tb HDD). I had a bad experience... the onboard memory?should have been swappable (only SSD? Sure.) 32gb is not quite enough. IMHO.
@Shiryu I agree (concerning the "dance" titles)... I was on Uplay the other day and it asked me to choose my console; XBox1 PS4 or I only play Just Dance, which I cliked and took me straight to the Wii U site.
@Jordie "Ubisofting" love it! we need to put that into he dictionary... Essentially building hype, postponing release dates until a more polished product (that was not in development yet) can be produced for the competing consoles, that were not part of the launch in the first place. Followed by company statements that since the original title didn't hold up too well against said competitors, THAT console was a failure. Jerks.
@sinalefa I thought the same thing! Believe it or not, they have only duplicated a couple of titles (I was PO'd with this months picks, so I did the research). Yeah Pilot Wings and Vegas Stakes are from the Wii Shop and were not available for the Wii U, yet. In a loose sense, they seem to be re-releasing old Wii shop titles (already offered as CN prizes) to the Wii U eShop not a good look Nintendo.
Poor Pokemon Rumble U... Those figures were a good idea, but needed some form of security... I don't know a soul who has the figures and plays the game.
Game was not that interesting on other consoles... Kinda slow. Not my kinda game. A few friends like it, the restaurant re pretty meh about it. I would fairly rate this a 7/10. I don't see the hype or excitement, but the gameplay feels like it works right!
@Punished_Boss_84 the Wii brand was never weakened... It passed with flying colours... By the time PS3 and Xbox360 caught up, we were all moving on to next gen... Except for nintendo. They chose "sort of" next gen. what I don't get is that if neither MS nor Sony had any real games in development or ready for launch, why bother releasing a new console? The PS3 rarely (if ever) used its maximum capabilities, and the X360 had yet to reach its full marketing potential (Ifeel they had the best chance to overtake the Wii)
really? Like when Reggie speaks, this should all be shut out. Neither party will ever claim success of the other. Even while Wii was blowing away the competition last gen, Sony (in the same boat with MS) claimed that few people even played the Wii... I guess it's all sour grapes for a while, at least until the holiday season is over. I'm sure Sony is making tons of cash... Oh wait, they're not. So I guess this is all just a big load of carp!
Amiibo don't really make sense from a travel point of view... Some people here are so confused, they have no idea why you would want to transport "toys" from point a to point b... If only the figures could be easily removed from the base... This way there is no concern of damaging your fig... Also, it would fit in your pocket. Currently the idea of dragging around (potentially rare/limited edition) figures sounds, strange.
@AtlanteanMan my assumption is that they are going to release Gamecube games sooner (rather than later) on the Virtual Console... In which case I can see these having importance. Otherwise... Not a sell for me. I do see where the highly competitive crowd would use this. It's simply another controller option (albeit, limited).
@CapuJohn dude! They were short back in the day when a 35" TV was considered large... And if I'm not mistaken, the health and safety manual read that sitting 3 feet away from a (no joke) 13" screen was the premium viewing distance. That would translate to like 12 feet away from modern "Big Screens"!
Fortunately I called before heading out (Los Angeles traffic will do that to you...), I had a good time! (I am an old stick in the mud, if someone cuts me off or I have no cell reception, my day is ruined) the staff at GameStop was considerate and friendly (not too uncommon in my experience, as I have 3 within a 5 mile area) and the free swag they gave out was pretty nifty! Smash stickers and buttons, along with Mario Kart 8 Flags (not cheap either!) lanyards and key fobs! I played little Mac and found him to play regular - nothing overpowered or unbalanced that I could see (I lost second, my wife first), and both my wife and I played little Mac... Fun!
@Maelstrom LOVE me some humble bundles! I admit, I bought a few games that are graphically challenging for my current PC, but figured "hey, this'll be great when I upgrade!" One year later...
@Peach64 I hate you... Every time I have something to say, I scroll down, and you've already said it! I agree, the last thing Ninty needs are delays. I wonder if the delays are due to the ratings board... Might be the hold up? Just guessing.
I see your point... but the deal here is to get people to buy the Amiibo. No one says "I can't use X character in Skylanders/Infinity until I but it?! That sucks!" In fact, it works the other way... Kids continually nag their parents till they get the next toy to unlock X content... And not having a feature because you didn't pay for it? Well, that just makes plain sense.
@BensonUii Heck! I don't even want a new game per se... But how about (DLC) Nintendoland that incorporates (not dresses, not skins) full on Amiibos? Or Wii U Party? THAT would give those games a bit more replayability, AND the much needed exposure (Ala WiiSports last gen) for the Wii U. Just an after thought... Besides, it's always easier to come up with solutions after someone else has done all the work.
The Wii Zapper is not much fun to hold for extended periods of time. The Zapper is not only heavy (you have BOTH the Wiimote and Nunchuck in the unit) but also unwieldy (unless you don't mind holding the zapper "Submachine gun style" with both hands) as it is heavier towards the front by a bit... That's just the response I got from family... Although the Zapper was nice, it was not as comfortable over extended periods of gameplay as the Nyko Perfectshot.
@Punished_Boss_84 I was gonna respond to your comment, but then I realized that you NEVER say a positive thing concerning the Wii U, much less Nintendo... I read your last 50 comments... Nothing positive, all hate and bash. Tsk tsk.
@Dave24 so... If you were willing to buy it "over and over again" wouldn't that equate to 123% of the retail price? Or would that be 199%? Either way, you were willing to spend nearly 200% for the same game, but now that it's out you claim that it took to long to, therefore the game is not worth it, unless you wait a few more months for the PS4 version? Sir, you have no dog in this hunt! Your being impatient is not the fault of the Dev... There were no promises made. Promises are for children that need reassurance. Contracts are what matter in business. May I see your contract sir? (Kickstarter is not a contractual obligation either, read up on it)
@BensonUii that resident evil gun (either the hand cannon or transformer model) were awful! The Wii Zapper and the Nyko Perfect shot is where it's at. The Eagle industries RE guns have a LONG pull on the trigger, not very handy when you need to make shots in quick succession... I was sold on how cool they looked. Bonus, the little Umbrella Corporation joystick covers look awesome and do not effect your gaming in the least...
@DESS-M-8 right on brother! well said. Notice that the response is a long time coming now...? Perhaps he's headed over to a meme site to find something relevant? Sarcasm doesn't really work in text (without the word "sarcastically" added to the end).
@Webby-sama I have to take a break from the whiners every few weeks..l I feel you bro.what is really strange is that people complain about something as if it had been taken away from them... Before the Internet and oversaturation via social networking, people tended to be much much more patient about game releases. In fact, most gamers waited for Christmas (or birthday)...
@DESS-M-8 nice! Thank you for clearly stating what needed to be said... Tired of the moaners and groaners talking about "all Sony and Microsoft games are free, so should Nintendo's!" I bet if their parents worked for these companies, they would be less inclined to whine and moan about how expensive games are.
@ToxieDogg well... Yes and no? (Sorry, tough answer) let's look at the sales currently on the Wii U, slim pickins ' right? Now I don't know much about the other two next gen systems, but look at Steam. There always seems to be sales (of course not on new releases, that would be silly) that many people I know enjoy. What I am seeing is a future where all games are "cloud-ed" (ugh, bad word) with limited edition physical runs and Steam-like deals on digital content. If they decide that limiting physical is not the way to go, then should digital pick up, I expect even less in terms of deals from digital. I hope that clarifies my view?
@rylo151 that's heartbreaking... Same here, (U.S.) Smash commercials? Once in a great while.... McDonalds ad concerning Mario Kart 8 toys in their happy meals? Every other commercial break! 3rd party game commercial featuring the Wii U? Never. Not once in fact. Unless you count the Wii U icon at the bottom of the screen (for less than two seconds)...
@rylo151 I do t wanna come off sounding negative... But agree with you. If you're not hardcore, you have no idea about this title. And yes, if you're on this site (or any gaming site for that matter) frequently, you're hardcore.

@ACK I was going to ask... Do we know the number of units affected so far? Round number? Because 500K sold in the US alone. 5k users woul only be 1%
