Re: Satoru Iwata Highlights Frustration at Missed Wii U Features and Aims to Improve for Next-Gen Hardware

Platypus101

@Darknyht good luck on your Wii checklist (I also waited a bit too long for quite a few of those titles, and boy were they hard to come by... Cheap)! as for your gaming ha it's, I believe you maybe in the minority, picking up a next gen console for its backwards compatibility, and playing mostly those games I figured most folk would have moved onto the WiiU from the Wii (hence why I think sales are rubbish, few upgraded, very few.) as for the Wii menu on the Wii U, I agree, WTF mate? Could there be no better way? Non gaming apps would also have been better than TVii (I do not use, since it service provider based, and I watch all stuff streaming). BTW I too am a budget gamer, having only paid 53% overall on all titles currently on my U (I own quite a few Nintendo titles thanks to the SSB sale urging September/October!) we did just get Cruchyroll... but like my Apple TV, I would like to see some additional apps.

@Sir_JBizzle wow... Seems you are quick to blame Nintendo... Let's not forget that all the major publishers were on track with Ninteno, THE devs/Pubs bailed on us, not Nintendo, they responded with excellent first party titles. Blame the devs/pubs. Will everyone stop with the "Backwards compatibility" complaint. Do you still own and play daily, any wii game? I would find any answer greater than "occasionally" to be more of a lie... VC is nice. I agree, it should launch with some weight, but don't you think that EVERY VC title would be a bit much, seeing as not many of them sold well (hence removals)? As for a multi-media game console? LOL. I remember when I had my N64 and you could play old SNES game... Oh wait, you couldn't. You're gonna tell me that instead of playing the great new games on the latest gem console, you want to also be able to go back and play old games? Why not just keep your old console? Eh, that's enough of my diatribe. Your turn!

Re: Nintendo Download: 25th December (North America)

Platypus101

@OMC79 totally there with you on the "Acti-lodeon" titles. What gets me, is that developers/publishers claim "poor install base" every time a decent title is released, but should said company come out with a total carp title, they make sure that it is released on the Nintendo console. So in the end, aren't the devs/pubs to blame for lack interest in their titles on said Nintendo console?

Re: Nintendo Download: 25th December (North America)

Platypus101

@edgedino I got that on last sale... Frustratingly fun! It is challenging like old school Castlevania at first it felt like I might have purchased a mobile app, but twenty minutes later, I'm searching for my lost feline buddies! Still ain't beaten that, yet...

Re: Review: Duck Hunt (Wii U eShop / NES)

Platypus101

@cmk8 LOL! "wonder how many will still be playing duck hunt in a week" seeing as a majority of gamers on this site LOVE to brag about how much quicker they get bored than the next player.. I say 3 people will be playing this in a week. They will all have gone back to bemoaning the lack of third party support and why all games are not just free!

Re: Feature: A Year in Development - RCMADIAX

Platypus101

@spizzamarozzi you are so right! How dare someone attempt to make money to survive! Shame on him! Lord forbid he try to do something he loves AND get paid for it... The man is an indie Dev, your argument would make sense against, let's say Nintendo. But there is no "Scam"... its 1.99$ not something to to fret over. Anyone remember Ninjabread Man for the Wii? They charged me 20$ for what was essentially garbage, and that was 20$!

Re: UK Retailer GAME Is Selling Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker This Side Of Christmas

Platypus101

@Peach64 that post did come off as negative, but I have my reasons... it's not that I would like anyone to be left out of great gaming, first and foremost. When vendors break street dates, many a time store employees will pick up a few said "pre-release" items and scalp them... Not a favorite. Also, if Nintendo was behind this, why not just make a statement like "Happy Holidays UK"... It would have been just as effective.

Re: UK Retailer GAME Is Selling Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker This Side Of Christmas

Platypus101

@BakaKnight Italians are not lazy, just smart. Breaking street dates is not cool. The only reason they did this was because they knew they had a hit on their hands and didn't want to get stuck with inventory after the holidays (once everyone is done buying for the holidays)... I wish they would fine the stores that do this. They didn't even bother to hide the fact that they were breaking date... Scandalous.

Re: Talking Point: What's Next For amiibo?

Platypus101

@Folkloner preach it brother! I wholeheartedly agree! How you gonna run out of virtual shelf space? When was the last time Amazon claimed they were unable to stock additional product due to "limited shelf space"? C'mon...

Re: Sony Pictures Is In Negotiations With Nintendo To Make A Super Mario Movie

Platypus101

I would say it's gonna flop, but let's be honest. Hollywood makes bad movies, (especially Sony) because Trolls watch 'em. Don't anyone get offended, we have all been part of the curiosity of what looks to be a promising movie with poor presentation (Mortal Kombat in my case) and paid handsomely for it (opening night in my case). Kids are gonna want their own bad Mario movie, so I'm sure this will get butts in seats. whether or not it's good.

Re: Nintendo Download: 11th December (North America)

Platypus101

I understand the disappointment that a lot of people seem to be voicing... They just got the ball rolling on Wii U eShop last year, and now that there are only two weeks left for promotionals, the pickings seem slim (seeing as that Novembers CN offers were rehashes of Wii offerings from less than a year earlier)... I hope @Sinalefa is right about them updating on Xmas that would be a nice gift on Xmas morning.

Re: Hardware Classics: Nintendo 64

Platypus101

@BaffleBlend I'm sorry offended you with the word... Please don't ever mis-quote me again... I take back the new age "carp" comment... Now go ahead and read. But don't put words in my mouth I never said.

Re: Hardware Classics: Nintendo 64

Platypus101

@BaffleBlend you're still funny... Sustainability Is not really a business term... that a new-age hipster carp. People move on from media all the time... I find it funny that when a sequel doesn't do well, people immediately claim fail. As for losing the casuals as you call them, they'd are as you claim "casual", so like they did with Harry Potter, simply moved on. Does that mean that JK Rowlings not making a movie of her following stories is a failure? I don't wanna get into this.. Too long.

Re: Hardware Classics: Nintendo 64

Platypus101

@BaffleBlend you are so funny... Nobody uses the word mistake when discussing the Wii... (Trust me, not even Wall Street) The Wii U, absolutely. But the Wii (weather you liked it or not) was a clear winner last Gen.

Re: Feature: Five Reasons To Choose Nintendo 3DS This Holiday Season

Platypus101

@AmazonianBeauty wait?what? ROFLMAO! I must have somehow tapped this instead of whoever the hell I was trying to respond too! LOL! Yes! You are 100% correct! Wait for the NN3DS... I'm not gonna say it... It's a stupid name. I would have even taken an old discarded name, like the revolution or something anything but...

Re: Feature: Five Reasons To Choose Nintendo 3DS This Holiday Season

Platypus101

@SkywardLink98 sorry sir, I did not respond to your comment, trying clarify myself... my statement was not at quantity is important... It's that everyone is claiming that the majority of playable games seem to be only on the other two consoles... True 7/10 of the top games are identical to each other (only real difference being one is Sony edition/whilst the other is XBOX1edition). Nintendo has different choices (with the exception of SL and DI) yes, everyone has great games, but how different is your collection compared to some one else? Why have two different machines if 75% of all games are identical to he next system? If you ask me, the smart bet would be to see who sold the most number of consoles and titles you like, and go with them (if you are looking to play against others/online) as that will give you the best of both worlds

Re: Feature: Five Reasons To Choose Nintendo 3DS This Holiday Season

Platypus101

@SkywardLink98 I agreee..l wholeheartedly! But.. For people saying to skip he Wii U this gen because a few of the vocal minority? THAT'S "trolling" (looking your way @AmazonianBeauty) th truth is, I have shown naysayers the Wii U, and after playing it, they bought one! I agree that Nintendo miffed this one, but there is no need for anyone to lose out on any of the great titles the Wii U has to offer (unless you want to part of the masses 15-20 years from now saying "I wish I had picked up a Wii U back in the day, so many titles I missed out on.") I speak from experience... I believed the negativity surrounding the Gamecube, now look at me, standing outside in the rain like the rest, clamong foR GC titles on my Wii U (which may not happen)...

Re: Feature: Five Reasons To Choose Nintendo 3DS This Holiday Season

Platypus101

@AmazonianBeauty LOL! There is no new console coming out for at least 2 years... The investment on a project of this scale is enormous! Everyone needs to stop whining about the seven games the Wii U does not have and look at the 9 games we have that don't exist on the other consoles. Do some research, check it out. You will see that in the top ten on both XB1 and PS4 seven of the ten games are multi plat... Not very creative.

Re: Parent Trap: amiibo Packs a Hidden Family Payload

Platypus101

@DESS-M-8 I still believe that (at least on the U) Amiibo could match the popularity of either DI or SL... As long as adequate support (not skins or free nothings) and some sort of Mii-style game or nintendo-land DLC or something else to really make them pop. But it has to be both... With no real title for them to fit in (excuse me, not including which collection they are from) and just lame skins, this will fail.

Re: Parent Trap: amiibo Packs a Hidden Family Payload

Platypus101

@DESS-M-8 Brother, can I get a list of the words that set you off? Damn... I ended my statement with "In My Humble Opinion" with the Letters IMHO... I am not a videos sales analyst. So my opinion is based on what I see (or no longer see) on store shelves. If my experience is not valid you just say so.

Re: Parent Trap: Amiibo Packs a Hidden Family Payload

Platypus101

@DESS-M-8 dude... Have you been to the store? They have a few models "Sold Out"! With the addition of the store limited models and the "oops I had 1 job and I screwed it up" versions with no legs/Paint/2 Right arms popping up for 10 times the MSRP on eBay? These things are doing well enough... Between collectors and the familiarity with the brand, they have potential to match SL or DI. IMHO

Re: Parent Trap: Amiibo Packs a Hidden Family Payload

Platypus101

@k8sMum you are aware that NL is part of Gamer Network and is not affiliated with Nintendo? it seems many people feel anything positive (not just concerning the Wii U, but nearly anything these days) is a "forced" attempt at being positive, which is not always the case. If something good happens, why not be positive? After all, people jump at the chance to be negative when something bad happens... Just a thought
