Re: Ubisoft's Unreleased and Finished Wii U Game Has Apparently Been Identified

Platypus101

@JLPick wow... All I said was "your anger may be misplaced" and you freaked out... I read what you wrote. Did you read what YOU wrote? Have you ever been to my home? Have you ever seen my collection of video games going back to my TurboGrafx-16? I collect games... Fun games, don't care which system (please stop with the Hipster crap name calling, I'm just not cool enough to know these terms, don't care to. I would like to continue polite discussion, this is my second time asking you to not call names). A party game that essentially belongs on an app or better yet looks like a Wii port to Wii U is not something to support, for either company.

Re: Ubisoft's Unreleased and Finished Wii U Game Has Apparently Been Identified

Platypus101

@JLPick So I disagree with Your point of view so you call me a fanboy?! Wow... Did you have a point or were you just up for insults this morning? I can insult you back if you like... But I thought we were having INTELLIGENT discussion, not "My way or screw you fanboy!" (Whatever the f$?&! That word means) Which is what you're saying. When you have something to say without insults, I'll listen...

Re: Talking Point: New Nintendo 3DS, Operation Faceplate NA and the Bigger Picture

Platypus101

@k8sMum I have a feeling this thread is falling apart... I had no idea how polarized the community was. At this point, I am hoping Nintendo releases SOME form of standard 3DS to round out the collection. I was unaware of the divide amongst our own (3DS users), next time I'm on the bus and I see another DS user, I'm gonna ask "why that model?" perhaps a better way of talking about console preference? Gots to be better than "yours sucks, mines better!"which seems to be what's happening at this point

Re: Talking Point: New Nintendo 3DS, Operation Faceplate NA and the Bigger Picture

Platypus101

@BinaryFragger I understand, all I am saying is to give it time. Microsoft had time to change their mind before the release of the console (a few months from what I remember), we found out about this a month before they released it and boom! Nobody is waiting... We all know Nintendo loves to release multiple iterations of the same unit year after year. All I'm saying is for some patience, and in the mean time either buy yourself a new 3DS or simply wait for the model of your choice.

Re: Talking Point: New Nintendo 3DS, Operation Faceplate NA and the Bigger Picture

Platypus101

@k8sMum also, just because I'm not interested in one, does not mean I don't know the differences. That was an attack on my knowledge... Since quite few people I know have one and have showed it off to me, I've seen the differences with my own eyes. I may not be as picky as some (apparently 55FPS looks different than 60FPS, can't tell personally) so that just maybe it. The 3D is improved over my current 3DS, and it boots up quicker... Also, the faceplates are very cool (my co-worker imported his)

Re: Talking Point: New Nintendo 3DS, Operation Faceplate NA and the Bigger Picture

Platypus101

@k8sMum same difference. Regardless of how you put it, this argument is simply silly. Faceplates? Really? That's what makes a difference in your gaming? Smaller frame, that too is going to make a huge difference... My assumption for the Devils advocates is "yes, it makes all the difference in the world!" Let's call this for what it is, entitlement. Sorry, Not angry at you... This whole argument seems silly. We know Nintendo has plans for the NA 3DS market, why is everyone freaking out? I feel that by telling people that they were not going to release it in NA, Nintendo created their own hype. Why do expect to see a whole lot of "limited edition" pre-orders of standard "new" 3DS models soon? Since the whole Amiibo craze, I can see that becoming a thing, especially with this level of outcry for said item.

Re: Talking Point: New Nintendo 3DS, Operation Faceplate NA and the Bigger Picture

Platypus101

@justinr ok... So because Europe has cars (namely transport trucks) I'm in the market for, and you're happy with your choice of car, I should reasonably expect you to help me campaign to bring those models over from Europe? You're being unreasonable. You can feel as entitled to something as you want, it does not make you right. You're missing my point, you don't have it, so why mourn it? Also, seeing as the rest of the world already has it, isn't it reasonable to believe that they may just be holding off on the standard size model? You may be jumping the gun here, it's not an actual "new" console.... More of a DSLite, not required, but would be nice to have.

Re: Talking Point: New Nintendo 3DS, Operation Faceplate NA and the Bigger Picture

Platypus101

@BertoFlyingFox ahem. Haven't you heard the cows crying "We have all the milk you need Nintendo! We just don't want to give you milk for a gigantic 3DS... We want a smaller one. Once we get that, you can has all our monies!" Read on... You'll see that's what "the core gamer" demographic is saying here on this site. It's sad that the vocal minority considers themselves the only core gamers...

Re: Talking Point: New Nintendo 3DS, Operation Faceplate NA and the Bigger Picture

Platypus101

@BinaryFragger that's just perception... You do not KNOW that as fact. How many standard units were shipped versus XL models? What were the sales numbers once the XL was released versus the standard model? If the numbers were anything like they were for the new XL we could see why they may not have restocked standard models in particular regions... Perhaps that history could shed some light on Nintendo's current decision.

Re: Talking Point: New Nintendo 3DS, Operation Faceplate NA and the Bigger Picture

Platypus101

@Bazly I'm frustrated by your tone... No one says you have to like what you see! I don't like to hear that a game I've waited over a year for, has been a let down port... I don't like to read that babies get cancer and that puppies die, but it all happens. Calling out the NL writing staff for information YOU personally disagree with, that's weak. Trolls at least try and find clever ways to annoy, you just insult.

Re: New Nintendo 3DS Launch Sales in the West Surpass 3DS XL Equivalents

Platypus101

@ericwithcheese2 remember this is just for launch week ...The fact that more Americans have MULTIPLE (I wish there was way to do italics, I hate bold for emphasis) smart devices (phone and other) the price point has to be lower just to compete. (I speak from a U.S. standpoint as I happen to live there and that's the "news" we get) either way, good news for us gamers!

Re: New Nintendo 3DS Launch Sales in the West Surpass 3DS XL Equivalents

Platypus101

@ericwithcheese2 if the XL had not outsold the standard model in America, perhaps we would have had it at launch. Reality is, Americans like bigger electronics (at the moment, things change), so they clearly made the right move here (seeing the numbers). I imagine the numbers would simply have been split between the XL and standard versions.

Re: Soapbox: Portable Gaming Forges a Special Relationship With the Player, and Nintendo is the Master in the Field

Platypus101

@retro_player_22 why did you post game and watch twice? The second one you posted is only a different G&W... If you wanted to post all the iterations , you missed a few. To my knowledge they were all labeled Game and Watch, no versions to speak of, only different screen layouts (games were fixed to either a widescreen, two screen, vertical or standard screen) and yes, I owned quite few of those "back in the day" as it were.

Re: Feature: The Heartwarming Tale of a Missing 3DS and a Stranger's Kindness

Platypus101

@White-Wash yeah... The only reason you think that way, is because you're a good person. Come down to Los Angeles sometime... Leave 7 cents and an empty pack of smokes on a table and before you can say "these folk ain't so bad" they will have scooped up the 7 cents, empty pack of smokes, then come over to yell at you for not leaving more money and at least one smoke! Yeah, I'm glad to hear things like this still happen, and also nice to know there are still people like yourself out there with good thoughts

Re: Ubisoft's Unreleased and Finished Wii U Game Has Apparently Been Identified

Platypus101

@JLPick um... Huh?! So Ubisoft develops a poor title, and somehow that is Nintendo's fault? How is that? Did Nintendo say "Hey! Our sales are not low enough, make a game that will help hinder the outlook of our console!"? Yeah, no. Your anger is misplaced this time, this is all Ubisoft, the only thing we can thank Nintendo for, is doing a poor job of sales so that we never have to see this title.

Re: Ubisoft's Unreleased and Finished Wii U Game Has Apparently Been Identified

Platypus101

@LittleIrves party games are not a new idea. I appreciate your wanting to support this game, but this is worse than Wii Party... It's a half-donkeyed attempt to cash in on "casuals" on a "gamer" console... If this is what developers think Nintendo Gamers want, we got big, big problems. BTW, I own all types of games (including the aforementioned Wii Party), This game hardly carries any appeal. .

Re: Dead Or Alive Producer Feels That A Cultural Divide Exists Between Japan And The West

Platypus101

Eh... The west is filled with extremists. One side says "your baby is dressed up like a not-nice-person" while the other side screams "my baby isn't dressed up like a not-nice-person, enough!" That only constitutes 10% of the west, tops. Like I've said on here before, the squeaky wheel gets the grease... The internet is filled with extremists posting hate. BTW aren't most of these extremists supposed to be doing good deeds, as opposed to hanging out online wasting time? I'm semi-retired, I know why I'm always online. also, I rearely do good deeds.

Re: Editorial: Nintendo's YouTube Creators Program 'Beta' Provides Vital Feedback - It Won't Work

Platypus101

@Quorthon fair enough... But remember, we're dealing with people and PERCEPTION.... That is what I am getting at. For example, when presidents go out on campaign, their BIG media coverage is when they go to "joe six-pack" townhall style meetings. There's full coverage, sound bites, etc. When they go to big corporate sponsored events, they simply mention that he is town. Point being, if all people see is a rich guy who makes 4 million a year, is now only going to make 3.8 million a year, then they would like to see him lose that money, BUT had they shown the average YT'r and quoted them saying what PewDiePie stated, it would have held weight. I guess what I'm trying to say is: no one cares if rich/famous people will be affected, they will always be rich/famous. Let's work on the average person... I know we may not be as interesting, but we still have value.

Re: Editorial: Nintendo's YouTube Creators Program 'Beta' Provides Vital Feedback - It Won't Work

Platypus101

@Steel76 what's with the cursing? Not bright enough to make a comment without swearing? And don't give me that "I'm passionate" speech... It's a bunch of carp. (You know what carp are? Fish.) remember, we are not privy to most corporate information, we don't truly know what these companies spend millions of dollars to know (and in some cases keep secret)... Being upset is all well and good, but why take it out on us? Nintendo has a site where you can bash on them directly.... Also, they gave you surveys with each and every game, I made my voice heard there.

Re: Editorial: Nintendo's YouTube Creators Program 'Beta' Provides Vital Feedback - It Won't Work

Platypus101

@Quorthon although we do disagree this time... Remember, we generally agree. Problem with your comment about people doing what they love is silly... If people only did what they loved, no one would clean public restrooms or shovel garbage at the dump... Also, the game designers are doing what they love, why should they not receive just as much as a you tuber that just whines, screams and yells for 22 minutes? C'mon, 4 million a year?! And he's standing up for the rights of you Tubers?! You tubers need a more realistic voice, as his comes off as entitled.

@ejamer Lenny is one of the greatest guitarists of our time... Missy Elliot? Well, she was big for like a month or two, at least until the new hip-pop act appeared the following month. Also, as for the beach scene? Yeah, the NFL still aims to please as wide an audience as possible if you notice it was closely followed by the all-bikini clad army of California Girls. Fun for the WHOLE family!
