Re: Talking Point: Is There A Future For The Wii U Without The GamePad?

Platypus101

@kendorage I agree with most of your points... my impression of the gamepad was either asymmetric game play or second screen (ala Zombie U, which is always fun to watch someone else playing, simply because the onscreen character and the player tend to behave very similar. unfortunately, this was not to be the way I don't want a HUD on a second screen! I agree that they should have an option for non-gamepad Wii-U (perhaps the basic set?)... Heck, toss in a pro controller as so many before have suggested, But the Gamepad should stay.

Re: Talking Point: Is There A Future For The Wii U Without The GamePad?

Platypus101

@kendorage did you not state the following: "Its like check out my new wii u and this great new controller. Let's play some multiplayer. I will use the cool gamepad...everyone else use the half-decade old remotes".
Not fun watching one person enjoy the new controller( and casual consumers will think its just an accessory or new controller option when they see everyone else with an old remote in the ad). And passing the gamepad around gets old. Gamers want their own."?

Your statement, as written, makes your point seem as "New controller = more fun" when in reality that has not been the case with either PS or XBox... Those controllers have looked (if not played the same for longer) I understand you were caught up by the word "crazy" in my post, but I can't help but notice your knee jerk reaction to a little word. Calm down, the world is a big place.

Re: Rare Nintendo World Championships Cartridge Eventually Fetches $99,902

Platypus101

@OorWullie ouch! True, corporations, once established, do not tend to be people friendly. In this case it's even worse... Due to the fact that they are simply the arbiter. Their attitude, unwarranted I agree, there ought to be another option (other than Amazons Marketplace, which I rate at a whopping 5/10... They're sellers have such a mean streak). hope your paypal/eBay issues clear up!

Re: Super-Rare Nintendo World Championship Cartridge Up For Sale On eBay

Platypus101

People... Let's not get carried away! First, it more than likely is real. Anyone who grew up with a nintendo NES is a liar if they ever thought their console (much less their games ) were gonna be collectors items. My buddy has quite a Few games (single owner- him!) that are in terrible condition! I wouldn't dare to call them fakes... Collectors see this as an opportunity to expand their collection. although, there's no way in hades I would pay that much for a game (used or otherwise)!

Re: EA's Peter Moore States That "Nintendo's A Great Partner" In Reaction To Claims of "Dead" Relationship

Platypus101

Who the hell is rob crossley?! It seems that he didn't like EA COO response, so he attacked... Face it crossley, the word of a man I can see, is more important than the one that hides behind anonymity! Always will work that way... At this point, was the source even real? Can he provide a lie detector test to "prove" that he worked for EA AND had the inside scoop? Most likely not... Just another angry EA employee lashing out. Anonymity creates doubt... Like in " I doubt this guy knows a damn thing."

Re: Nintendo of America Offers Stock of Refurbished Wii U Deluxe Sets for $250

Platypus101

@theadrock13 nintendo support is not the worst.... I have had excellent (if not speedy) service AT&T, Verizon, Microsoft (software, don't own a xbox), Dell and a slew of other companies (all of which I have dealt with on over two dozen calls each) have the worst service. Disclaimer: always be kind and patient with the service representative, remember, they will decide the status of your repair/return (speaking from experience...)

Re: Nintendo Was Dead To Us Very Quickly, States EA Source

Platypus101

@ocarinaoftime learn to spell or let auto correct do its job... Trying to read your post was frustrating. The days of alpha numerical texting are over! Join the rest of the world! embrace auto correct (or learn to use the online dictionary; with Babelfish if necessary)... This type of spelling is why journalists (see how that's spelled?) look at us video gamers as immature followers. Someone on this forum may one day do something stupid (I really hope not) and they WILL use your post to identify our group... Then we will all look bad.

Re: Nintendo Was Dead To Us Very Quickly, States EA Source

Platypus101

@SetupDisk I agree, but the Nintendo eShop never dropped in price... Also, quite a few of the previous (anything where you get out of your car and do non-driver related actions) titles, were terrible. I assuming here, that most people were expecting yet another "GTA style" racer, which at best was boring. this new NFS is awesome!

Re: $1.2 Billion Wiped Off Nintendo's Market Value As Share Prices Plummet

Platypus101

@Jowy don't be fooled! There will ALWAYS be shareholders... Maybe not as many OUTSIDE investors (read as: chump/fool). You see, stock is sold to outside investors, while company execs (and lesser employees) are given,as part of their contract free shares and/or the option to purchase at discount. So you see, it's no real big loss to the company as a whole. This means they will not give themselves a nice raise this year, that is unless they turn this all around and make it seem this was their plan all along

Re: Nintendo President Satoru Iwata "Has Earned The Right To Fail", Says David Jaffe

Platypus101

@element187 preach on brother! I agree 100%! When did game sales determine whether a game was good? It may have something to do with this new "monkey see, monkey do" generation.... As in "mommy, mommy! Give me what all the other kids have so I won't feel like a total loser!" Another example of this is the "doom and gloom" concerning nintendo. As you stated, stop whinin' and get back to playin'! (I know, I paraphrased)

Re: Nintendo President Satoru Iwata "Has Earned The Right To Fail", Says David Jaffe

Platypus101

@edhe you site an YTD difference of only 8.5%?! ROFLMAO! that's nothing... I've worked for companies that consistently lost 15-30% on YTD, and not once, did they EVER try and remove top seat positions. In fact, they claimed it was standard business practice (no matter where I worked), for these types of swings in the market. Seriously, people should stop posting numbers if they don't know what they really translate to. This is not panic time at nintendo, it's stock buy back time at nintendo.

Re: Satoru Iwata Explains Reduced Projections and "Large Margin" 3DS and Wii U Sales Misses

Platypus101

@Pikachupwnage meh. When they need money, hitting numbers is good (so somehow it magically happens), when they want to buy back stock, they can never seem to hit the numbers (again, magically). Can't tell you how I know this, but trust me, it's how it works. For example, how do companies that lose 25%+ (sometimes upwards of 61%!) comeback the following year with 200-300% profits?

Re: Iwata Accepts Responsibility For Poor Financial Results, Ignores Calls To Resign

Platypus101

@Collz I see the same with my nephew and his buddies... Although, they all stated they would like the new Kart and Smash Bros games when they come out! so I guess Software does make a difference I want one of the other two consoles (haven't decided which) but their game line up is (as Einherjar stated "less than stellar"... So I'm biding my time with those two (mainly due to price and lack of games).

Re: Nintendo Confirms Major Reductions In Sales and Financial Projections

Platypus101

@MoonKnight7 I am not too sure about DK moving widgets... I love the DK series, don't get me wrong. Historically speaking, games that have been postponed for release generally don't do too well (of course GTA V, is an exception) seeing as the game will be competing against hotly anticipated games that are being released on time. Damn you Nintendo! (Just whining 'cause we ain't the winnin' team no more)

Re: Nintendo Confirms Major Reductions In Sales and Financial Projections

Platypus101

@timp29 doode... It's not our fault as fans ('specially those that bought a U during the launch window). Let's face it, A lot of people are saying what you're saying. I own quite a few games (been lookin' for the right fit) and too many come close and never hit the nail... Of course there are exceptions. As my mom likes to say " if there's an exception to the rule, the rule stands". And Ninty's rule is many games will be like those on the Wii, some better...

Re: A Third-Party "Secret Developer" Gives an Inside Story of Working on Wii U

Platypus101

@Peach64 not sure how accurate the statement by the developer was... I have worked internationally... There are (and have been for quite a few years) human translation services. Simply put, you set up the call, a human translator speaks for both sides, giving the pertinent information. All this was done for a worldwide telecommunications company... Yes, every continent, any authentic language (not made up ones)

Re: GamePad High Capacity Battery Now Available in North America

Platypus101

@theadrock13 THAT CRASH! How could they allow that?! Bad Nintendo... And to have underestimated their own customer base in regards to the bank, come on, we all gotta agree that was just bad... no worries, we are all passionate about gaming, 'specially these days when the giants are bypassed in favor of "true" casual gaming... Smartphone gaming.

Re: GamePad High Capacity Battery Now Available in North America

Platypus101

@theadrock13 ROFLMAO! Would you like to place a bet on your last comment? It's nice to meet another 40 year old that hasn't given up on gaming... Seriously, there was no need to bring my mother in on this. Also, come on, Nintendo posts nearly all of their product manuals on their support site. A little bit of time and patience, and bingo! You know what all the flashing lights mean (I speak from experience, had I known about this site, I probably would have known even faster). What exactly is wrong with the design? The majority of "cradle-type" chargers are generally the same (excluding smartphones), all consoles have recharging cradles for their controllers, why is this one so crappy?

Re: GamePad High Capacity Battery Now Available in North America

Platypus101

@theadrock13 you remind me of the demo person on the Flip and Fold commercials (without the folding board they were a hot mess) trying to fold clothing... LOL! There's a a USB-like connector on the back of the Gamepad. It seems the uninitiated like to talk about why things fail, they rarely understand why things succeed.

Re: GamePad High Capacity Battery Now Available in North America

Platypus101

@Gamecube5f at some point the North America nintendo was giving out a promotion for Shen Megami Tensai 4 (I may have misspelled) for 30$ gift or something like that... "Supposedly" (no way to verify this) someone did the promotion twice, and were denied their second gift certificate (possibly the game or coins, can't remember which). Also, Nintendo fixed my Wii (failing to read discs) AFTER it was out of warranty by nearly a year, for FREE! With a little patience and some time on the phone, Nintendo will give you an RMA number and a shipping label, so that you may mail them the console and they'll repair or even replace it (no worries, all your info will be transferred). As far as pricing is concerened, it would be tons cheaper than buying a second console FYI it takes less than two weeks to receive your console back from Nintendo's repair dept... I walked mine in, got it back within two hours!

Re: GamePad High Capacity Battery Now Available in North America

Platypus101

@Gamecube5f seeing what "supposedly" happened to one individual earlier this year concerning SMT4 promo, I would be cautious... Although one work around is to add a family member to your account (something like family account or something), add the second console to the new account, and bingo! All coins go to one account...
