Re: Ubisoft Thinks The Next Console Cycle Isn't Far Away, So Where Does That Leave Switch?

Pikachupwnage

I think it won't hurt Switch too much. After all a lot of the early games for PS5 and Xbox two will likely be designed with PS4-Xbox one versions and possibly Switch version in mind as well so as to get more sales overall while the user base for the new systems develops.

Plus 2+ years off gives Switch plenty of time to get itself a strong hold and we have seen many third third parties getting quite serious about Switch.

Re: Monster Hunter XX On Switch Helps Capcom Post Impressive Growth

Pikachupwnage

@GC-161

Yeah. They sold

1.8 Million copies of XX
2.6 million copies of 3U
4.1 million copies of 4
4.1 million copies of 4U
4.3 million copies of Gen

on 3DS.

That's 16.9 million copies of MH on 3DS.

Ace Attorney series was also a consistent mid level performer and they sold 1.2 million copies of Street fighter IV on 3DS too. 3DS was good for Capcom.

Re: Nintendo Outlines Black Friday Deals, With A "Link Green" Zelda 2DS Leading The Charge

Pikachupwnage

@Spoony_Tech

Of course not.

The N2DSXL was intended as a cheaper to produce "middle" option. Some of the "premium" features of the N3DSXL but at lower price without 3D.

2DS is too valuable to Nintendo. That 79.99$ price tag is very attractive for parents who might cringe at the 200$ or even the 150$ price tag of the other models. Especially with a game being bundled it. Also generally makes it easier to get the more money constrained people in general to buy such a low cost system.

@sillygostly

Metriod has had mediocre sales in Japan for pretty much every post super game.

Re: Nintendo Switch Still Leads in Japan as Etrian Mystery Dungeon 2 Makes Debut

Pikachupwnage

Disapointing sales for EMD2 but I wouldn't quite call it a bomb. After all the first game sold better than expected at a 65K debut. Given that a sequel that seems fairly expansion pack esque(kinda like what EO2 was to EO1) they will probably still make a small profit given this likely cost less to make than the first with the engine, and general gameplay already there and likely some models and textures refused.

Re: Pokémon Gold and Silver Getting Boxed 3DS Releases In Europe

Pikachupwnage

This reminds me....I wonder how much Pokémon RBY have sold on VC. They were at 1.5 million as of March 31st but considering at least 1 version(often multiple) have remained near constantly in the top 20(with yellow usually being in the top 5 except during big sales) worldwide....porbobaly a lot more now.

Re: Blaster Master Zero Passes 100,000 Downloads for Switch & 3DS

Pikachupwnage

@DarkmarkUnited

Your math is uhhh....pretty interesting. It's a 9.99$ game and I do not believe it has been on sale yet.

Before Taxes and Nintendo's cut they would be at 999,000$(Assuming all countries pricing is equivalent to 9.99 USD) min revenue. Naturally taxes and Nintendo's cut would take a decent chunk out of that but still.

Re: Dragon Quest XI Delivers Extraordinary Sales on 3DS, as Switch Hardware Continues to Thrive

Pikachupwnage

@westman98

I don't think that's a fair way to look at it. Miitopia is more of a successor to tomodachi Life. Hey Pikminnis what it is because traditional Pikmin would be tough to make work on 3DS(Nintendo did actually prototype it earlier in the 3DS lifespan). Can you imagine playing the original on 2DS or N3DS? Maybe on the XL models it might work...And Monster Hunter already has three main series games outside Japan. A spinoff is hardly some insult to the hardcore fans

Sept 8th: Monster Hunter Stories
Sept 15th: Metroid Samus Returns
Sept 22nd: Pokemon Gold/Silver
Sept 29th: Yokai Watch 2 Psychic Specters
Oct 3rd: Culdcept Revolt
Oct 6th: Mario and Luigi Super Star Saga DX + Bowser's minions
TBA Oct: Lady Layton
TBA Fall: Fire Emblem Warriors
TBA Fall: Etrian Odyssey V
Nov 17th Pokémon Ultra Sun/Moon
TBA Holidays: River City Rival Showdown
TBA holidays. Kirby
Early 2018 Radiant Historia Perfect Chronology
Early 2018: Shin Megami Tensei Strange Journey Redux
2018 Sushin Striker
2018 Dragon Quest XI
2018: Jake Hunter: Ghost of the dusk

Persona Q2, Yokai Watch 3, Snack World, Etrian Mystery Dungeon 2, Monster Hunter Double Cross are all likely localizations for 2018.

There are plenty of indies hitting too. Chicken Wiggle, Creeping Terror, Timespinners, Shakedown Hawaii, Treasurenaughts, Omori,

We got several mon games, dungeon crawlers, a hybrid RPG/Board game/card game, A metriodvania and a actual Metriod game, a visual novel, platformer, beat em ups, a mystery dungeon game, a couple more traditional RPGS, Kirby, a action hunting game, and a a puzzle adventure game.

That seems a likema varied and certainly like it has several options for a "core" gamer even outside Atlus games.

Re: Nintendo of America Confirms Another 2DS Bargain Bundle

Pikachupwnage

@TheGreenMiner13 This is a great idea. The whole point of the 2DSXL was to provide a middle ground between 2DS and N3DSXL.

79.99$ is a big drop from 200$ after all.

This way there is a a budget option, a "Normal" option and a premium option in terms of price. This sort of thing is pretty common in tech.

They also should do a new round of Selects.

Link Between Worlds
Smash Bros
Super Mario 3D Land

Would be good choices.

Re: Review: Hey! Pikmin (3DS)

Pikachupwnage

Seems fair. I was actually impressed by the graphics especially given the dual screen approach. The backgrounds and some of the effects are quite detailed, while the core stage textures/design and models vary IMO but generally range from decent to good.

Framerate definitely is a bit jittery at times on my N3DS.

And yeah a lot of the games that would fall below the average of 5 don't even get reviews from the vats majority of sites or even at all.

Re: Poll: The New Nintendo 2DS XL is Out This Week - Are You Tempted?

Pikachupwnage

Hey Pikmin probably won't do much for sales but Miitopia could do quite well. It's similar to tomodachi Life and that game was a huge success. Europe in particular loved it and bought well in excess of 2 million copies.

However Dragon Quest XI is going to be the real 2DS XL pusher before Pokémon methinks. Japan is gonna buy a lot of 2DSXL he DQXI come July 29th.

Re: Oddworld Creator Lorne Lanning "Has No Faith" In Switch

Pikachupwnage

"I don't have faith. I have no faith. It's due to experience. I see a similar level of success than they had with previous generations. Wii U, Wii.

When it was pointed out that the Wii was pretty successful, Lanning countered by stating that very few third party publishers actually made any money off the console:

"How successful was it for third parties? By the end of the life of the Wii, who else was making money aside from Nintendo? How many titles sold for the Wii that weren't Nintendo first-party? They started basically evaporating third party support. We get to Wii U - same, no third party support."

Put that goalpost down!
