Re: Feature: 12 Details You Might Have Missed In The Mario Galaxy Movie Trailer

PeterTomlan86

In the poll I would pick, “Eh, I don't know. I'll probably watch it on streaming” but I’m not subscribed to any streaming services. Personally, there’s not enough fun Mario like action or any of the quiet or joyous excitement from the Galaxy games in the film as of now.

Not much to say about it so far. What I saw was more like a teaser than a trailer. Only thing I liked, that I thought was the best, was all of Rosalina’s scenes . Still gonna wait this movie out until then, but it hasn’t convinced me it will be good just yet.

Re: Images Of Yoshi From 'The Super Mario Galaxy Movie' Have Leaked Online

PeterTomlan86

@Dark-Luigi Movies also aren't know these days for portraying characters like Rosalina's personality. She's a fan favorite character, and I can't see how they can change up her personality without somehow feeling unfaithful to the character we all know and love.

@Anti-Matter What I mean is, it made sense for the Mario movie to be good because it wasn't that much of a task to get right. The IP in general has a simple universe, it somewhat resonates with Illumination's own films, and you had Nintendo overlooking the project.

This film, the new one that's being made, like I said, is gonna be based off of a game that's almost unlike their films in comparison.

Still, whatever the case though, I'll hold off on giving my thoughts until I have more insights on it. Like other people in this comment section.

Re: Images Of Yoshi From 'The Super Mario Galaxy Movie' Have Leaked Online

PeterTomlan86

To repeat what I've said before, I don't know, but is it just me or does Illumination making a movie based on Super Mario Galaxy feel like something that wouldn't land because of that game's epic and exciting air, and at times serene and almost speechless feelings. That doesn't look like something the studio would make based on their previous films. I think, for me personally, if it didn't end up being the former of expressions, I'm not sure if it would be a good movie.

Rarely do you have a 3D movie like the Polar Express that is serene and meaningful, imaginative, and at times joyfully exciting to watch for certain scenes in its film. While not ditching the humor, and making it so that the humor in the film is good for people that like comedy in films.

I honestly wish more modern 3D movies followed the kind of look and narrative the Polar Express had. Not criticizing modern films in saying that.

I do think there’s more styles and stories you could use for 3D films than what has been typically done. Not that that’s a bad thing, again.

Re: A Trailer For The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Will Debut This Month, It's Claimed

PeterTomlan86

@Anti-Matter Well, still, 3D movies in general are typically known for having slapstick, pop-culture references, wisecrack, and humor where characters are stunned about something and shout.

Re: Nintendo Direct For Kirby Air Riders Announced For Thursday, 23rd October

PeterTomlan86

@Teksette You sound like me when it comes to my time and the price and length of AAA games these days.

Perhaps more off topic to your post here, but I think the best way to determine whether or not AAA games for me are worth buying is to know if I'll enjoy them for how many hours. Including additional and post content. If I want to play a 3D platformer and spent hours having fun with gameplay themed around that genre, main game and whatever else there is to do not main game, then a game like that is a good purchase to me. (Even though $60 and $70, in my opinion, is a little too much to be charging for that form of media in general.)

Re: Pokémon Legends: Z‑A Ranked Battles Season 1 Now Live, Reach 'Rank K' For A Special Reward

PeterTomlan86

I haven't even played the game yet and there's a limited time event to compete in that'll last until November to get Mega Greninja. I wish I was given enough time to play through the game's story and then tackle the event afterwards. Doesn't GF/TPC know there are people like me who don't want to speedrun the game? Why couldn't they have started the event a couple months after the game's release?

Re: Prepare For Even More Pokémon This Month, As New Horizons Series Lands UK Release Date

PeterTomlan86

@ShieldHero @bloody_velvet Very good show so far, as someone who has watched almost all English dub episodes available.

I would be curious to know how well the show is doing in the US so far on Netflix (I know it hasn't been doing well in Japan, unfortunately). I hope it is getting enough views in the US, because I do believe it deserves views after trying to have an actual ongoing plot, main characters, Roy and Liko, that is, I genuinely like, and other characters who are fun have around. (The two latters I mostly had no problem in past seasons with Ash.) Everyone has a right to their own opinion obviously, but it would be great if the show had success, so we can have more quality and good Pokemon anime to watch in the future.

Re: It's Official, The Mario Movie Sequel Is Based On Mario Galaxy

PeterTomlan86

@Croctopus Yeah, you're right about Rosalina. While she's a fan favorite character to Mario fans, you would think she will indeed be in the movie, though I can't see the studio portraying her the way she is in games (because you don't see gentle and quite characters in movies these days.) I like Rosalina a lot myself, but I can only hope she's in it for a short screen time (like at the end of the film).

Re: Mario Galaxy amiibo Are On The Way, Plus Two New Kirby Ones With Swappable Bases

PeterTomlan86

@Zeugziumy I don't know if Nintendo would do that.

I guess there's nothing wrong with the render. Even though I prefer Rosalina's more quite/gentle and happy personality in past games.

Also, and this is more off topic, but is it just me or did Rosalina in Mario Kart World have a different design in her face too? I haven't played MK World myself, but would love to if I got the game.

Re: Nintendo Direct Announced For Friday, 12th September 2025

PeterTomlan86

My wishlist:

Plans for Super Mario Bros. 40th anniversary

3D All Stars getting re-released

SMB. 35 getting re-released

Camelot finally announces a new Golden Sun or releases a remake or remaster of Dark Dawn (Its been 4 years since they have released Mario Golf on Switch)

Seeing more of the Adventures of Elliot, even though I don't know yet if it will be an RPG I will be interested in buying

Any non-Nintendo game that interests me

Re: Nintendo Adds Another Golden Sun Soundtrack To Nintendo Music

PeterTomlan86

@Pillowpants Camelot still exist: https://www.camelot.co.jp/wp/

I too would love to get a new entry in the series. And I do have hope we will get it one of these days since Nintendo brought back some past IPs in the Switch era, and RPGs did well on the platform.

I can't understand though how Camelot are still able to maintain themselves as a company when they rarely release any new games, and Mario Tennis Aces and Mario Golf: Super Rush didn't sell well (if I'm not mistaken on that).

Re: Nintendo Subsidiary 'Warpstar Inc.' Has Been Renamed To 'Nintendo Stars Inc.'

PeterTomlan86

@roboshort Yeahh. It really looks like they don't want to use Japan for making movies because 2D animation are the only expertise the country has, and unfortunately there's not much of a market for it outside of Asia.

Which is a real shame, because you look at the animated Pokemon shorts for an example, and by thinking of a narrative with the breathtaking art shown in those shorts, you get the idea of how amazing a movie would be following a Nintendo IP of appropriate choice.

In case I didn't myself clear enough in my last post, I just would like to see Japan make movies instead of the West because I feel like they would have a better understanding of Nintendo's franchises and not put in humor that doesn't match in or have the need to make a blockbuster by using ideas already done.

Re: Pokémon Champions Is The Main Battle Game For The 2026 World Championships

PeterTomlan86

@swoose You think so? Feels like an unusual pattern to expect from a company to put a new title, Pokemon Champions, in the World Championships to replace SV, and then put the gen 10 games in the World Championships the year after that to replace Champions.

People think Champions is being made so that Game Freak can put more effort to the main games, but I'm not so sure that is the case myself. I may not be a game developer like GF, but how much more work would a team be able to put into their games if they were to exclude something like competitive battles, anyway?

Re: Pokémon Champions Is The Main Battle Game For 2026 World Championships

PeterTomlan86

If Pokemon Champions is going to replace the main games for the World Championships, are the main games' gonna be less competitive focused like the Pokemon Let's Go games for online battles? And that the main games are going forward will be more worked on in development, and thus more like a AAA game to a certain degree?

Another question I would be curious to know about Champions, but would be a little scared to find out, as someone who loves the competitive battle system in the Pokemon games: Because this software is free on mobile, are there going to be any pay to win incentives presented in the title? I kind of have a feeling there will be, and it will be a bummer for me if they are in the game.

Re: Octopath Traveler 0 Has Been Rated For Switch And Switch 2

PeterTomlan86

@CJD87 No, I haven't.

Games I was talking about I would like to see more of, are RPGs that don't have decision making, actually. In case anyone's not aware. RPGs like the first Pokemon game where the player is important shaping story and being a part of it: Stopping Team Rocket, discovering the world via the Pokedex, proving to Blue you're the better trainer, and aiming to be the champion of the game.

Not everyone may click with its narrative, but I otherwise, actually think its amazing. Even though the first games didn't have all the visuals and whatnot of modern games today to communicate cinematic experiences, the things in R&B like the background music, lore and other ideas made it felt like a fantastical fantasy, vast children's adventure.

Re: Octopath Traveler 0 Has Been Rated For Switch And Switch 2

PeterTomlan86

@ShieldHero I have no doubt there are. Though I would like it if we got a little more RPGs for a general audience. Unfortunately, most of the industry doesn't see the potential of the idea, but I think it would be great to have something that's universally enjoyed by people: Something with a story for players to be a part of and explore its world. Because nothing's as great as a story, let alone one you can interact in and save the world (excluding decision making games).

Not trying to talk down on teen RPGs too. I'm just giving my thoughts on an idea I don't see people talk about.

Re: Hands On: Forget The Name, Square Enix's New Action RPG Is A Lovely HD-2D Take On SNES-Era Zelda

PeterTomlan86

@Orpheus79V @CasualTalkRadio @nhSnork To each their own when it comes to personal opinions, but I think too there's nothing wrong with the name. I actually love it. It sounds adventurous and seems to imply it's a story of exciting tales to embark on.

I honestly don't see what can be wrong with a name that's, "The Adventures of ${insertName}," and putting the subtitle below it. I read someone say it sounds generic, and to be fair, that person's probably right, but to me I don't feel that way. Maybe it's because I have seen less titles named like that than that person, actually.

Anyway, I don't know much about this game outside of it's appearance in the Direct. Nevertheless, the game to me so far is like a book I would want to read for its thrilling, amazing adventures! It really speaks to the adventurer in me that seeks to go on journeys such as these. Don't know if this game will end up being for me though, because I tend to play games excludes a couple of teen content that's not my personal preference. Since this game has co-op, and the share the Joy Con thing is usually in family friendly games, I wonder if it's actually for a general audience. Which I think would be awesome if it was, because most modern RPGs aren't catered towards that kind of demographic. I think kids deserve this amazing genre too. And people that happen to be like me that really appreciates those kinds of games as well.

Re: Pauline's Age In Donkey Kong Bananza Has Been Revealed

PeterTomlan86

@MatthewTaranto Yeah, I don't know. You could be right actually.

I would be more curious if Nintendo considered making her 10 from looking at real singers that age. Like Micheal Jackson and Darla Hood from Our Gang. Though the former was basically overworked by a parent while the other I'm unaware of. I do admit if Nintendo didn't want to make her 10 after the former's life and ones like it, I can understand why they didn't want to make her that way.

The jealously thing could be true too. Pauline in DK arcade could be like to DK kidnapping her, "Wait, stop! I'm just in love with Mario. I can't be in love with both of you."

Re: Pauline's Age In Donkey Kong Bananza Has Been Revealed

PeterTomlan86

I also think while the relationship between DK and Pauline is cute, I don't get why the developers wanted her to bond with him. Isn't this the girl that doesn't want to hang out with him in the Donkey Kong arcade game?

Also, in case anyone doesn't know, Shigeru Miyamoto wanted the arcade game to have a little story with a moral. The guy, Mario, is spending more with his girlfriend, Pauline, than his pet monkey, Donkey Kong. So the gorilla kidnaps Mario's girlfriend. But that doesn't look like that aligns with Bananza obviously.

Re: Pauline's Age In Donkey Kong Bananza Has Been Revealed

PeterTomlan86

13!? I thought from watching the latest Direct she was a little girl. This is kind of a surprising to me.

Also, I get not all short people are kids, but wasn't Pauline in Odyssey as tall as the New Donkers?

This also changes my perspective on her design in Bananza, as I don't get why she's barefoot if she's not a baby. And her outfit I don't understand too, but I'm guessing they wanted to make look like a rocker?

Not the first time I've been taken off guard with anime ages. That's Japan for you. (I originally thought the characters from the first Golden Sun were in their early 10s, but I found out later they were 17 or something!)

Re: Round Up: The Reviews Are In For Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time

PeterTomlan86

@Varkster Is that question mark in your sentence indicating you're unsure if you liked the story? Because I've been holding off from getting the game. I think this game itself has the potential to feel like a game with numerous possibilities and wonders in its world, along with a story to tackle with a given vocation (or the life plots if they're more than just charming and funny). Not sure if that's the experience the devs want to go for, but I would like to know.

I think opinions on stories though can be subjective. Like I have liked rather simplistic plots that other people didn't have an opinion of (not that that's a bad thing).

No worries if I don't know if I'll like the title though. Perhaps looking at some videos of the game on Youtube will give me better foresight.
