@KidSparta If you can bring your battle ready Pokemon (ones that have maxed and trained IVs and EVs,) from your games, it won't be that bad, right? I think the money you can spent is mostly directed towards people who don't have the games and are starting out.
@Questionable_Duck By all means! I may just re-post some movies I gave brief thoughts on just for you there. I would be curious to know if you would like to watch them. ^_^
@sdelfin A lot of people think the 2000s were the last good era of movies. I think I would have to agree with that too. Even though there are some movies from the 2010s I would say I liked: Hugo, Dolphin Tale and its sequel, From Up Poppy Hill, The Secret Life of Arrietty, the first Digimon Adventure Tri film, and maybe The Voyage of the Dawn Treader too.
@Cakes I have never watched Svengoolie. If his show only shows horror films, I probably wouldn't be interested.
There was one I was watching the movie Duck Soup on MeTV, and Svengoolie himself made appearances on TV breaks, which my family didn't like, haha.
@Thwomp_Stomper That GIF is from the showing of Duck Soup on MeTV right?
@Questionable_Duck Same here! I'm 28 years old currently, and I find myself loving old shows and movies I have never seen before.
If you want sometime, you can post what you have been watching in the Movie thread on Nintendo Life! I may just look up a trailer whatever oldie you mention. I have made a few posts there about films I have watched if you're ever interested. Some movies old people haven't heard of actually.
@Spider-Kev When you said movies and shows become awful after 2012 and started going bad in 2007, what exactly did you not like about them? Just curious to know why you think that.
I can actually understand where you're coming from after watching a film franchise like Narnia, for an example.
@Questionable_Duck Yep. I like MeTV too. Old movies and TV shows are great, no doubt about it. Wish I knew more people to talk to them to, haha. You know? Nothing like that feeling of bring up movies or shows, someone you're talking with goes to watch it and then you get to read what they thought and liked about it afterwards. Good times.
Anyway, I have watched some of the Super Mario Bros: Super Show on Youtube, and it's alright. Not my thing. I prefer SMB. 3 I have watched a little, and it has somewhat funnier humor than the first show.
I haven't watched a movie in a long time, so it goes to show how unfamiliar I am learning about who's gonna cast who in the Mario and Sonic movies.
Only actor I recognize this time around is Sir Ben Kingsley. That's about it. He was good when I watched him in Hugo. I wonder who's he playing in the new Sonic film.
@BrazillianCara Well, my opinion of XD releasing before Colosseum is because XD had more of an atmosphere of a regular Pokemon game. While Colosseum was somewhat darker, had a more sci-fi setting about it, and was overall more shonen in comparison to XD. (Plus the story Colosseum had was more of a crime story compared to XD and any of the Pokemon games actually.) Basically, they want to not confuse people who play the mainline Pokemon games and have never heard of the GameCube titles before nor anyone not as familiar with the brand: They want to make it clear the GameCube games are spin-offs.
I also think it's not that big of a deal that XD is releasing before Colosseum too since there's not any noteworthy story connections between the two games.
That picture of Roselina looks a little unlike Roselina if you ask me. Maybe because he looks a little more smirk-y than she does in the games? Something.
@Nep-Nep-Freak I think it makes sense to have those filters in the games actually. I don't personally want to run into those words when I'm watching a walkthrough on Youtube for an example. And don't think some other people want to as well. Unless Youtube creators want to give warnings for what's to be seen, which doesn't happen often, unfortunately. That's why the people I mentioned and myself appreciate Pokemon and the other Nintendo IPs.
In fact, there aren't a lot of RPGs that are for a general audience out there. Which is too bad since it's a great genre to dive into, and I think it could have an impact on more people that would be thankful o play them if there were more to their liking.
All of these updates given to FLi and there has yet to be a removal for some of the they/them pronouns in the dialogue referring to the player character? Whether male or female is picked at the start of the game?
Anyone have any idea why there hasn't been an update to change some of these references for boys and girls? Technical reason in the code or engine perhaps?
@BrewsterTea I know what you mean. Seeing the unending hate for GF gets you down after a while. That's what negativity does if it's exposed to a person too often.
Not trying to point out flaws in anyone in saying that. I do think it's common to find comments not praising things in news articles. Nothing to do about that. It's best thing to go elsewhere for people that want to interact with people who like what they like - whatever that may be.
Looks a fun game to me, really. I'm sure I wouldn't mind it if I were to play it.
That said, and just pointing out something about the game I find interesting, some people don't like the Adventure mode in Fever, yet Camelot still won't make a full-on RPG like Golden Sun?
I just find this perhaps eye opening about the team and where they stand with the genre. Unless I'm wrong and they will prove they still care in a few years from now.
I thought if people liked the Adventure mode in Tennis, Camelot might be content enough making that their RPGs for now on. Looks like I might be wrong about that though.

I can understand what he's saying when it comes to wanting to have more people to pick up and play racing games. But I also think some people should just take the time and try to appreciate games with cute characters, and see if they find any resentment in titles such as those.
I also personally don't get the impression he dislikes Mario Kart.
I actually think more different art styles for family games, the better. Media these days in general could use more distinct art directions for content that's for a general audience.
I mean, don't get me wrong, I love games with art styles like Super Mario, Kirby, and etc.. But I can certainly use another game with a look like Zelda or, hey, even something that's magical and surreal like the Polar Express movie (with a couple of improvements of course). Ooh, I love to get an adventure with the later style, and is an experience that has awe, is exciting, mysterious, and has wonder.
As much as I would really like of any of those two ideas above, if I had to make a prediction, I would say we're not gonna get a lot of things like that in the future.
Anyone find it kind of out of place that the Mario Movie is rated for, "rude humor"? Perhaps its not in the film that much, but wouldn't the rating state that if that was true?
@batmanbud2 I find Dark Dawn is mixed reception wise: Some people like DD, others do not.
I'm also not very familiar how RPGs are made nowadays, but can you explain a little why you think that?
@EarthboundBenjy Can you or someone explain to me how much of the Mario Tennis and Golf games are RPGs? I've never played them before, and am curious because I like Camelot and want to better figure them out why they don't return to Golden Sun.
Camelot looks out of the question now when it comes to them making a new entry of GS. And according to that rumor from Emily Rogers, if it's anything to go by, she states that Nintendo really wants to bring back the IP, but are unable to find the right studio to have them make a new entry, because Camelot already has their hands full with Mario Tennis and Golf. I'm just curious asking this question, but do you think it has to do with most developers wanting to make RPGs these day for an older audience, and maybe Nintendo wants to keep GS' intended young-age range, like their other IPs? Again, just a question. I don't know everything about how these studios think, and would appreciate anyone enlightening me here.
@iLikeUrAttitude Aren't multiplayer games better off if they're multiplayer only? I have seen games where it felt like they started out being single player and then the co-op was an after thought. I think its rare to expect games to be fun in both single and multi these days. Am I right in saying that?
In the poll I would pick, “Eh, I don't know. I'll probably watch it on streaming” but I’m not subscribed to any streaming services. Personally, there’s not enough fun Mario like action or any of the quiet or joyous excitement from the Galaxy games in the film as of now.
Not much to say about it so far. What I saw was more like a teaser than a trailer. Only thing I liked, that I thought was the best, was all of Rosalina’s scenes . Still gonna wait this movie out until then, but it hasn’t convinced me it will be good just yet.

@Anti-Matter What I mean is, it made sense for the Mario movie to be good because it wasn't that much of a task to get right. The IP in general has a simple universe, it somewhat resonates with Illumination's own films, and you had Nintendo overlooking the project.
This film, the new one that's being made, like I said, is gonna be based off of a game that's almost unlike their films in comparison.
Still, whatever the case though, I'll hold off on giving my thoughts until I have more insights on it. Like other people in this comment section.
To repeat what I've said before, I don't know, but is it just me or does Illumination making a movie based on Super Mario Galaxy feel like something that wouldn't land because of that game's epic and exciting air, and at times serene and almost speechless feelings. That doesn't look like something the studio would make based on their previous films. I think, for me personally, if it didn't end up being the former of expressions, I'm not sure if it would be a good movie.
Rarely do you have a 3D movie like the Polar Express that is serene and meaningful, imaginative, and at times joyfully exciting to watch for certain scenes in its film. While not ditching the humor, and making it so that the humor in the film is good for people that like comedy in films.
I honestly wish more modern 3D movies followed the kind of look and narrative the Polar Express had. Not criticizing modern films in saying that.
I do think there’s more styles and stories you could use for 3D films than what has been typically done. Not that that’s a bad thing, again.
@Anti-Matter Well, still, 3D movies in general are typically known for having slapstick, pop-culture references, wisecrack, and humor where characters are stunned about something and shout.

I haven't beaten the game yet, I'm on rank B currently, so hopefully I won't get spoiled by anything, but I'll gladly take more news about the DLC anyway.

@BrazillianCara Is that true? I didn't know modern Pokemon did that, except for the 4Kids' dubs back in the day. Can you show me the differences of the two dubs' soundtracks anyway?
@Teksette You sound like me when it comes to my time and the price and length of AAA games these days.
Perhaps more off topic to your post here, but I think the best way to determine whether or not AAA games for me are worth buying is to know if I'll enjoy them for how many hours. Including additional and post content. If I want to play a 3D platformer and spent hours having fun with gameplay themed around that genre, main game and whatever else there is to do not main game, then a game like that is a good purchase to me. (Even though $60 and $70, in my opinion, is a little too much to be charging for that form of media in general.)
@Liam_Doolan OK, thanks for letting me know. Like I said in my previous post, I thought it would be obtainable in another season in the future, and it looks like I was right about that.
@CaptainTempest I'm sure they'll repeat the event again sometime in the future.
The promise towards the event has been kind of strange. I thought Pokemon for the most part wasn't bad at having you obtain Pokemon, except for Mythicals.
I haven't even played the game yet and there's a limited time event to compete in that'll last until November to get Mega Greninja. I wish I was given enough time to play through the game's story and then tackle the event afterwards. Doesn't GF/TPC know there are people like me who don't want to speedrun the game? Why couldn't they have started the event a couple months after the game's release?
@ShieldHero @bloody_velvet Very good show so far, as someone who has watched almost all English dub episodes available.
I would be curious to know how well the show is doing in the US so far on Netflix (I know it hasn't been doing well in Japan, unfortunately). I hope it is getting enough views in the US, because I do believe it deserves views after trying to have an actual ongoing plot, main characters, Roy and Liko, that is, I genuinely like, and other characters who are fun have around. (The two latters I mostly had no problem in past seasons with Ash.) Everyone has a right to their own opinion obviously, but it would be great if the show had success, so we can have more quality and good Pokemon anime to watch in the future.
@Croctopus Yeah, you're right about Rosalina. While she's a fan favorite character to Mario fans, you would think she will indeed be in the movie, though I can't see the studio portraying her the way she is in games (because you don't see gentle and quite characters in movies these days.) I like Rosalina a lot myself, but I can only hope she's in it for a short screen time (like at the end of the film).
@Zeugziumy I don't know if Nintendo would do that.
I guess there's nothing wrong with the render. Even though I prefer Rosalina's more quite/gentle and happy personality in past games.
Also, and this is more off topic, but is it just me or did Rosalina in Mario Kart World have a different design in her face too? I haven't played MK World myself, but would love to if I got the game.
Camelot finally announces a new Golden Sun or releases a remake or remaster of Dark Dawn (Its been 4 years since they have released Mario Golf on Switch)
Seeing more of the Adventures of Elliot, even though I don't know yet if it will be an RPG I will be interested in buying
I too would love to get a new entry in the series. And I do have hope we will get it one of these days since Nintendo brought back some past IPs in the Switch era, and RPGs did well on the platform.
I can't understand though how Camelot are still able to maintain themselves as a company when they rarely release any new games, and Mario Tennis Aces and Mario Golf: Super Rush didn't sell well (if I'm not mistaken on that).
@SoIDecidedTo I have never even heard of the game until looking it up on Wikipedia. Nintendo published it? It looks to be a horror game, and the site says it people praised it for its story. Why would you like them to make a movie out of it?
@roboshort Yeahh. It really looks like they don't want to use Japan for making movies because 2D animation are the only expertise the country has, and unfortunately there's not much of a market for it outside of Asia.
Which is a real shame, because you look at the animated Pokemon shorts for an example, and by thinking of a narrative with the breathtaking art shown in those shorts, you get the idea of how amazing a movie would be following a Nintendo IP of appropriate choice.
In case I didn't myself clear enough in my last post, I just would like to see Japan make movies instead of the West because I feel like they would have a better understanding of Nintendo's franchises and not put in humor that doesn't match in or have the need to make a blockbuster by using ideas already done.
I would like to see Nintendo hire Japanese companies to make movies for them. But unfortunately the chances of that happening look slim. Too bad though, because as a fan, and this is kind of an unpopular opinion, that didn't like Westerns making their IPs into films I really love my idea.
@kal_el_07241 It makes sense for the main games to have the new battle system, since Pokemon isn't the most thought processing in design. I can see how it would be different if it was a franchise that did though, and may not be a good decision to implement.
@swoose You think so? Feels like an unusual pattern to expect from a company to put a new title, Pokemon Champions, in the World Championships to replace SV, and then put the gen 10 games in the World Championships the year after that to replace Champions.
People think Champions is being made so that Game Freak can put more effort to the main games, but I'm not so sure that is the case myself. I may not be a game developer like GF, but how much more work would a team be able to put into their games if they were to exclude something like competitive battles, anyway?
@Greatluigi There will probably still be an option to do competitive battles online. But I think it will be less of a focus in the modern games, like what I said about Pokemon Let's Go in my last post.
If Pokemon Champions is going to replace the main games for the World Championships, are the main games' gonna be less competitive focused like the Pokemon Let's Go games for online battles? And that the main games are going forward will be more worked on in development, and thus more like a AAA game to a certain degree?
Another question I would be curious to know about Champions, but would be a little scared to find out, as someone who loves the competitive battle system in the Pokemon games: Because this software is free on mobile, are there going to be any pay to win incentives presented in the title? I kind of have a feeling there will be, and it will be a bummer for me if they are in the game.

Games I was talking about I would like to see more of, are RPGs that don't have decision making, actually. In case anyone's not aware. RPGs like the first Pokemon game where the player is important shaping story and being a part of it: Stopping Team Rocket, discovering the world via the Pokedex, proving to Blue you're the better trainer, and aiming to be the champion of the game.
Not everyone may click with its narrative, but I otherwise, actually think its amazing. Even though the first games didn't have all the visuals and whatnot of modern games today to communicate cinematic experiences, the things in R&B like the background music, lore and other ideas made it felt like a fantastical fantasy, vast children's adventure.

Re: Images Of Yoshi From 'The Super Mario Galaxy Movie' Have Leaked Online
Re: A Trailer For The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Will Debut This Month, It's Claimed
@Anti-Matter Well, still, 3D movies in general are typically known for having slapstick, pop-culture references, wisecrack, and humor where characters are stunned about something and shout.

Re: Pokémon Legends: Z-A Mega Dimension DLC News Coming Tomorrow
I haven't beaten the game yet, I'm on rank B currently, so hopefully I won't get spoiled by anything, but I'll gladly take more news about the DLC anyway.

Re: Reminder: Room For More Pokémon? A New Horizons Series Arrives On iPlayer Today
@Lizuka What series was that in the show? Is it the one where Roy and Liko are older?
Re: Reminder: Room For More Pokémon? A New Horizons Series Arrives On iPlayer Today
@BrazillianCara Is that true? I didn't know modern Pokemon did that, except for the 4Kids' dubs back in the day. Can you show me the differences of the two dubs' soundtracks anyway?
Re: Nintendo Direct For Kirby Air Riders Announced For Thursday, 23rd October
@Teksette You sound like me when it comes to my time and the price and length of AAA games these days.
Perhaps more off topic to your post here, but I think the best way to determine whether or not AAA games for me are worth buying is to know if I'll enjoy them for how many hours. Including additional and post content. If I want to play a 3D platformer and spent hours having fun with gameplay themed around that genre, main game and whatever else there is to do not main game, then a game like that is a good purchase to me. (Even though $60 and $70, in my opinion, is a little too much to be charging for that form of media in general.)
Re: Pokémon Legends: Z‑A Ranked Battles Season 1 Now Live, Reach 'Rank K' For A Special Reward
@Liam_Doolan OK, thanks for letting me know. Like I said in my previous post, I thought it would be obtainable in another season in the future, and it looks like I was right about that.
Re: Pokémon Legends: Z‑A Ranked Battles Season 1 Now Live, Reach 'Rank K' For A Special Reward
@CaptainTempest I'm sure they'll repeat the event again sometime in the future.
The promise towards the event has been kind of strange. I thought Pokemon for the most part wasn't bad at having you obtain Pokemon, except for Mythicals.
Re: Pokémon Legends: Z‑A Ranked Battles Season 1 Now Live, Reach 'Rank K' For A Special Reward
Re: Prepare For Even More Pokémon This Month, As New Horizons Series Lands UK Release Date
Re: It's Official, The Mario Movie Sequel Is Based On Mario Galaxy
@Croctopus Yeah, you're right about Rosalina. While she's a fan favorite character to Mario fans, you would think she will indeed be in the movie, though I can't see the studio portraying her the way she is in games (because you don't see gentle and quite characters in movies these days.) I like Rosalina a lot myself, but I can only hope she's in it for a short screen time (like at the end of the film).
Re: Mario Galaxy amiibo Are On The Way, Plus Two New Kirby Ones With Swappable Bases
Re: Mario Galaxy amiibo Are On The Way, Plus Two New Kirby Ones With Swappable Bases
Why does the boxart of Rosalina's face look different than the amiibo on display? Is it just me?

Re: Nintendo Direct Announced For Friday, 12th September 2025
My wishlist:
Plans for Super Mario Bros. 40th anniversary
3D All Stars getting re-released
SMB. 35 getting re-released
Camelot finally announces a new Golden Sun or releases a remake or remaster of Dark Dawn (Its been 4 years since they have released Mario Golf on Switch)
Seeing more of the Adventures of Elliot, even though I don't know yet if it will be an RPG I will be interested in buying
Any non-Nintendo game that interests me
Re: Nintendo Adds Another Golden Sun Soundtrack To Nintendo Music
@Pillowpants Camelot still exist: https://www.camelot.co.jp/wp/
Re: Nintendo Subsidiary 'Warpstar Inc.' Has Been Renamed To 'Nintendo Stars Inc.'
@SoIDecidedTo I have never even heard of the game until looking it up on Wikipedia. Nintendo published it? It looks to be a horror game, and the site says it people praised it for its story. Why would you like them to make a movie out of it?
Re: Nintendo Subsidiary 'Warpstar Inc.' Has Been Renamed To 'Nintendo Stars Inc.'
Re: Nintendo Subsidiary 'Warpstar Inc.' Has Been Renamed To 'Nintendo Stars Inc.'
I would like to see Nintendo hire Japanese companies to make movies for them. But unfortunately the chances of that happening look slim. Too bad though, because as a fan, and this is kind of an unpopular opinion, that didn't like Westerns making their IPs into films I really love my idea.
Re: Fantasy Life i's New Update Is Finally Live On Switch 1 & 2, Here Are The Full Patch Notes

Re: Pokémon Champions Is The Main Battle Game For The 2026 World Championships
@kal_el_07241 It makes sense for the main games to have the new battle system, since Pokemon isn't the most thought processing in design. I can see how it would be different if it was a franchise that did though, and may not be a good decision to implement.
Re: Round Up: Everything Announced At The 2025 Pokémon World Championships Closing Ceremony
@kal_el_07241 May I ask why you think gen 10 and forward won't be less about competitive Pokemon? I'm curious.
Re: Pokémon Champions Is The Main Battle Game For The 2026 World Championships
@swoose You think so? Feels like an unusual pattern to expect from a company to put a new title, Pokemon Champions, in the World Championships to replace SV, and then put the gen 10 games in the World Championships the year after that to replace Champions.
People think Champions is being made so that Game Freak can put more effort to the main games, but I'm not so sure that is the case myself. I may not be a game developer like GF, but how much more work would a team be able to put into their games if they were to exclude something like competitive battles, anyway?
Re: Pokémon Champions Is The Main Battle Game For 2026 World Championships
@Greatluigi There will probably still be an option to do competitive battles online. But I think it will be less of a focus in the modern games, like what I said about Pokemon Let's Go in my last post.
Re: Pokémon Champions Is The Main Battle Game For 2026 World Championships

Re: Octopath Traveler 0 Has Been Rated For Switch And Switch 2
@CJD87 No, I haven't.
