Re: Best Nintendo Switch Games Of 2021

Oscarzxn

I don't really get why some people say this was a weak year first party wise, it wasn't amazing and I think 2017 and 2019 were better, but this year was solid I think, despite BDSP and Mario Golf at least at launch being dissapointing, we got a new 2D Metroid and was awesome, the first Mario Party that everyone seems to like in over a decade, the first traditional and original WarioWare in a decade and it was solid, a sequel to Pokémon Snap which was great, the Famicom Detective Club Remake which was pretty good too or Boswer's Fury if you count it which was awesome, and there is also Cruis'n Blast which while not 100% first party was really fun too. Game Builder Garage and BBA also were interesting stuff, even if they were sort of unremarkable.
I get some people on internet forums are mostly into the single player adventure stuff (which are all coming next year) and don't care about much else, but I think a lot of games like these are what made Nintendo's first party line up more interesting.

Re: Poll: What's The Best Pokémon Game Ever?

The Platinum to Black and White 2 era are my favorites, really complete games with great presentation and flow
XY is at the bottom for me, there is not a lot to do in that game and has a lot of issues from difficulty to wasted potential, and since it was following the DS games and was really praised by critics I was incredibly dissapointed at the time, and I kind of hate it for that reason. Have not played any of the games after Sun and Moon though.

Re: Review: Cruis'n Blast - An Arcade Racing Icon Returns In Spectacular Fashion

@BlueOcean Nope, Cruis'n seems to be the single ip created by Midway or Atari games that wasn't owned by them and isn't owned by WB now, but by Nintendo, because it seems they funded the original game, it can be seen in the copyright of all the entries, and that's the reason why the Nintendo logo appears in all the Arcade machines or why they never had a port to the PS1, PC or Dreamcast like the other Midway games of the time.

Re: Soapbox: Without A Dedicated Handheld Division, Is Nintendo Less Weird?

@Yorumi I think you are being a little bit overdramatic about Nintendo. Do they have issues with the Switch? yeah, definitely, but I'd say most of them come from the executives more than the games, in that camp I think they have been doing fine. Have some games been dissapointing? yeah, but not that many at all, a handful I'd say, a big improovement from the 3DS and Wii U era were Nintendo released way too many poor or super controversial games (I think I can count 30), and also you gave the example of Animal Crossing letting down some people for the lack of content as an example of Nintendo not caring, but I can give you the case of Fire Emblem, Mario Party, Luigi's Mansion, Mario Tennis or Paper Mario overall doing a better job for most people in comparison to their previous entries, or even if you didn't like Odysset they made a very ambitious game and heard what people wanted after 3D World initial reception, or you have Nintendo also doing some super unsafe projects like Ring Fit, Astral Chain, Sushi Strikers, Game Builder Garage, New Pokémon Snap, the remake of Famicom Detective Club or Buddy Mission. Some issues here and there aside, I think in the game development side on Switch has been solid, only really lacking in number so far since the full HD development + doing some more ambitious stuff makes impossible to develop games as fast as on the 3DS, and also the death of Alpha Deam and Retro Studios's failed project

Re: Review: Turok 2: Seeds of Evil - A Painfully Incomplete Version Of An N64 Classic

Oscarzxn

On one hand it is a shame it doesnt have the multiplayer yet considering it's asking the same price as the PC and One versions, on the other hand I have always heard Turok 2 mp was pretty mediocre so I don't know if the discount should be that big.

I imagine if they patch it they would re do the review like: now has multiplayer, it's very mediocre, we dont recommend it, but now it's an 8/10.

Re: Feature: Every Nintendo Console Ranked From Worst To Best

@Medic_alert I disagree, the gamecube third party support was not amazing imo, It has the games you listed and that's nice, but aside from those, many companies that were doing great games at the time on both PS2 and Xbox barely did anything on the cube like SNK, Eidos, Koei, Codemasters, Tecmo and especially Roackstar, also Konami aside from Twin Snakes barely did anything on the console, in fact that was the only M rated game they released on it and some companies that made gamecubes games at the beggining later just stop doing that like Midway, Acclaim, 2K Sports and Lucasarts. In my opinion the only big complanies that did support the GC a lot were Capcom, EA, Activision and Ubisoft, and still I would say they did support the other 2 consoles more, missing games like Burnout 3 and Revenge.

Also, PS2 had like a huge monopoly with japanese companies like Atlus, Nis, Square Enix (and more exclusives from Konami, SNK or Capcom than the other 2) and the Xbox had some exclusive PC ports of games like Kotor, Morrowind, Riddick Chronicles, Doom 3 or Half Life 2, while the Gamecube didn't have anything exclusive to go agains that.
