Re: Best Nintendo Switch RPGs

Oscarzxn

@Sparrowhawk I wouldn't personally say is seriously lacking there, it could be better since some AAA games on the last few years have avoided the console, but between older games (and with older that include games from the PS3 gen), indies and some new stuff that did release for it there is more than enough from those 2 genres, like 20 times more than the Wii U, 3DS or Wii.

Re: Round Up: Everything Announced In The February 2023 Nintendo Direct - Every Game Reveal And Trailer

@Bunkerneath I wouldn't call it "money grabbing" since the Trilogy on Wii while was a great value, probably the best Nintendo has ever given next to OG Mario All Stars, they at the end were just ports of the first 2 games with very few changes and 3 re packed. This actually has significantly more work put into it than those and was hard to expect the same price as just a port like on the Wii.

Re: Xenoblade 3, Bayonetta 3, Mario & Kirby Nominated For 2023 D.I.C.E. Awards

Oscarzxn

It's weird how similar Is this to the Game Awards nominies, that including the nonsensical Family Game part (which here seems to be even worse) and including mostly movie-like Scores on the music category, but with the only difference being that they included substantially less Switch games overall than TGA, especially in the RPG category which on TGA was just Switch games and Elden Ring and here Is the total opposite. I wonder what's up with that.
At least they didn't include Sifu as a fighting game I guess.

Re: Feature: Nintendo Switch Ports We'd Love To See In 2023

Oscarzxn

I'd like to see the Yakuza games on Switch, at least the ones that were on PS3 since those could easily run on the thing, but if the RGG Studio continues to hate Nintendo consoles for that Wii U port's failure, that won't be the case, in fact it may not be the case even on the next Nintendo conole for what we know, unless Nintendo pays them or something like that.
Other than that I hope we see a Half Life Collection after the Portal one and we continue to see some of those stupidely late but quality ports of Bandai Namco, in this case from Arise or Scarlet Nexus.

Re: Feature: Best Nintendo Switch Ports Of 2022

@Anti-Matter I mean the article was to highlight the Switch ports that were actually good, what you wrote is kind of well known at this point, some releases on Switch are not nearly as good as the ones on other consoles and others just suck, that has been like that since 2017.

Re: Feature: Best Nintendo Switch Ports Of 2022

Nier on Switch does feel like wishcraft, it's honestly hard to believe how good and crisp it looks and how well it plays, even in parts where there are like a million enemies on screen the framerate just does not dip below 30, it's incredible.
Honestly between it, Crisis Core and also Diofield, which at least looked and played great on the demo, I just understand less and less why Square Enix made KH a cloud version, any justification like "it would be too hard because it's based on the PS4 version" or "it would need too much compresion" that I heard from people like Modern Vintage Gamer make less sense than ever now.

Re: Feature: Game Of The Year 2022 - Nintendo Life Staff Awards

Oscarzxn

No Sparks of Hope on the list but instead the unpolished mess that was Scarlet and Violet? what a bizarre pick honestly.
Other than that, my personal goty on the Switch was Triangle Strategy, was everything I expected from it and more. Have not played some stuff like Xenoblade or Persona 5 The Royale yet though.

Re: Best Nintendo Switch Collections And Compilation Games

Oscarzxn

I feel this is a very underappreciated part of the Switch library, since I see every day people crying for the death of virtual console, and yes I agree when it comes to first party games there could be more and better distribution, but when it comes to third party these destroy Virtual Console in every way, more games at a better price, with more options and most of the time with better emulation. Virtual Cons-who?

Re: Video: Digital Foundry's Technical Analysis Of Pokémon Scarlet And Violet

Oscarzxn

I honestly feel these games are just not something you can release to the public, like cool if lots of people are having fun with it, it does look interesting when it comes to gameplay, but man this is just horrible, literally looks like an alpha with not only the bad visuals and framerate, but also unstable visual effects that fail constantly to render as they should. I felt a little bit guilty for buying Arceus since it also could have looked a lot better, but beyond that it mostly ran well and didn't have any glitches or lack of stability, so whatever, but this is something I'd be embarassed to support. Like what's next, a game with PS1 graphics and 10fps that crahes every 2 minutes? Will people aso say it's fine as long as it's fun? idk man.

Re: Team Ninja Reportedly Rebooting Ninja Gaiden & Dead Or Alive Series

Oscarzxn

@Yosher These are just plans for the future, most likely after they released their 2 big projects for 2023, if they are now in development is probably super early, by the time they might come out the Switch succesor will ceratinly be out and who know, it might be strong enough to run them, or at least 1 of them.

Re: Pokémon Fans Vent Frustrations Online About Scarlet & Violet's Technical Issues

Oscarzxn

@Jeronan I think is just very weird how while some Nintendo releases are not perfect at launch, not at all, none of them come even close to how unpolished Pokémon games have been on the Switch, especially this one, this is unheard of for a Nintendo ip game. Plus in other years like 2020 Nintendo also didn't have a big holyday game and nothing happened, or they could have delayed Arceus, like no one would have complained if we didn't have other game 2 months after BDSP.
I can't confirm but it seems to me the fact that TPC exists at all and it's not managed like other Nintendo series does affects this franchise.

Re: Soapbox: After 10 Years I Finally Got A Wii U, Here’s What I Thought

Oscarzxn

The Wii U definitely had some of the best games in Nintendo's history (even if most of them weren't the most innovative), the retro library, while not a big upgrade over the Wii, is excellent when it comes to first party stuff, and has some neat functions that the Switch doesn't have. But really it's flaws are too big, most notoriously the terrible third party support, which mixing it with the slow release schedule of Nintendo for having to also support the 3DS, made the console had months of almost nothing, and also the lack of real use of the Gamepad is really dissapointing, you can count with one hand the games that really used it in a smart way and a couple of them aren't even from Nintendo themselves, it was just an overpriced and ovezised piece of plastic for off tv with a terrible battery life, really dissapointing considering that with all it's ups and downs, the Wiimote got plenty of gams that used it well.
It's a fine console but it's really flawed, and maybe it's just me but for a while now I have seen way too many people focusing in it's good aspects and completely ignoring the bad ones to bash the Switch, which has make me dislike the console a bit.

Re: Best Wii U Games

Oscarzxn

Very happy for how high Tropical Freeze is and how much love the game gets now, I remember how the reviews were good but inferior to Returns at the time and overall most gaming pages considered it as nothing special, just another good 2D platformer, while it totally was something special, like Game of the Year contender good imo. I also have no idea why Rayman Legends got way better reviews than it just a few months before, since if it was also a 2D platformer similar to the previous entry
