@progx Oh, come on. The many many fat and Half-Life 3 jokes, at Gabe's expense indicates absolutely no one is in a parasocial relationship with him. It's just when the gaming industry is in a crisis of greed and unfair consumer practices, Gabe's company Valve seems to be more or less consumer friendly, but it's not without flaws and faults of it's own.
There's only one thing that people are going to buy this for and that is for the meme. And personally, I'm going to laugh at them when they realize that getting a bulky piece of plastic to collect dust at 100-200 bucks simply wasn't worth it.
Then again a lot of people brought the Switch 2 at 500 bucks to collect dust...
Honestly, it was what I was expecting. And, I don't know how to feel, like at this rate I have no desire to pick up the Switch 2 until 2027 at the earliest. The only thing that peaked my interest is the new Tomodachi, and that is more of a niche time-waster. The new Yoshi looks okay, but I'm not going to drop 500 big ones just for two games, and small updates for games I've already completed to death.
My sentiments is that people that like the Switch 2 so far are those that can't get the 3rd party games on anything else, otherwise I have no idea 🤷♂️
@Skunkfish travelling through universes? I don't know, I'm not a marketer or idea pitcher for a video game company. I would just say that it would backwards for them to go back to Galaxy. Especially getting a 3rd installment to something after it's been 15+ years and 2 consoles.
This is more like a "well, what did you expect?" situation.
It's like ordering a sandwich made of poop, and then complaining that the sandwich is made out of poop.
@xzacutor glad I'm not the only one who was reminded of Sinistar.
I think you are referring to Williams who developed (and possibly still own) the original arcade classic, but I don't think they outright own the IP if the "sequel" 'Sinistar Unleashed' is any indication, which was was developed by GameFX and published by THQ, it had no involvement from Williams. And that game was over 20+ years ago, who knows who landed the Sinistar IP since then.
The world of video game copyright/trademark is a lot more murky than film and animation, you really don't know who owns what especially with 40+ year old IPs.
If it was lighter it would make a good birthday cake topper, and then afterwards as something that would be thrown into the junk drawer never to be really seen again.
I don't think they 'fully' own the comic or the characters, I think they might be partially owned by Warner Bros. which they might have to get approval for.
Ugh, please let the tradition of begging for a game to be ported to the Switch/current gen Nintendo to die already. (e.g. NINTENDO SWITCH PORT WHEN???)
Like I've always said; when it comes to present day Nintendo you need to lower your expectations and you get what you've been given, no exceptions.
Lol, why is everybody so bitter about this? I'm sure half of you said to those critical of the Nintendo Switch 2 to "get over it", "touch grass", "let us have our fun", and "simply don't buy it." Well, I say to those being hypocritical being somehow offended and bitter about Xbox; you do the same.
@Zeebor15 Geez, would you calm down a little? If you're not aware, this is an Anglo-centric/English language website. And I'm sure most readers here might not know who they are but are probably more aware of the Wipeout show. I'm sure it's a fantastic Japanese TV network, but I'm also sure it isn't the western hemispheres fault that most of their programming hasn't reached their screens.
I don't understand these 'Box Art Brawl' polls. Pretty much the outcome of the polls is that the Japanese (and usually the rare American) box art that shoots the others out of the water, and the sloppy European/PAL version is always dead last, every time.
If you're going to do these again, just don't even bother putting in the European/PAL version, it's a waste of time.
@Zufolobelisk I think people seem to forget that 'delayed =/= automatically good'. I'm sure there's plenty of examples, but the most prominent one that springs to mind is Duke Nukem Forever. If anything delayed could be more of a bad thing, there's probably more to it behind the scenes then "ironing out the glitches"; there could be creative differences, layoffs, deletion of concepts and elements etc.
@8bit-Man If they're not featured in the game proper, I hope at the very least there's Marvel-esque post credits scene featuring them indicating they will be back in a sequel or something.
Correction: Men in Black was a gritty comic book/graphic novel before it was adapted into a comedy movie. So the proper wording would be 'Neuralyzer from the Men in Black franchise' not the 1997 film. Pop-culture osmosis at work!
Wow! It's the games that I already own on PC and Xbox that have already been available for the last 1 - 10 years!
This time I can play on the go for about 15 minutes until I reach my destination, or in public where others can stare and laugh at me or rob me outright! Neato!
"If Duke Nukem is included in this deal, I could see someone going for it."
Very doubtful, as much as I would love to see him back in action with his parodic pseudo badassery I just don't think any studio is willing to bring him back after one of the most anticipated failure that was Duke Nukem Forever. And I know that the World Tour expansion episode for Duke Nukem 3D happened after that and it did okay, but in todays political climate taking everything at face value with no concept of parody and satire, the critical backlash/negative publicity would be undesirable...
Hmm, I know I'm going to sound like a conspiracy theorist but I'm thinking it has to do with them not wanting to make a Tomodachi 3. Doesn't anybody remember the whole gay relationship controversy? And them promising to implement it in the next installment? Yeah, no doubt they trying to phase Miis out as a whole to quietly cancel any potential Tomodachi sequel so they don't have to keep any broken promises...
The more articles being written about him and the way he's constantly trying to find ways to be relevant despite him literally just being the RETIRED Steve Jobs of Nintendo with some outdated "funny" quips here and there. He's honestly becoming the "Kim Kardashian" of the video game industry.
As it would horrifyingly gross me out, it wouldn't surprise me if he had his butt splayed out on this new "biography" of his...
Geez, is it no wonder we keep getting stuff that we completed a gazillion times ten years ago on a different console or PC, when we get people having passive attitudes like: "Oh yeah, I've completed [game] a bunch of times on [console 2-3 generations ago], but I think I'll buy it again because I'll play it portably for less than ten minutes."? I'm just so bored of my Switch because it doesn't really have anything exclusive, except a drip feed every 1-2 years...

If Galaxy 3 is the next 3D Mario game, I'll lose my mind too. For the worst. I would want the franchise to move forward, not backwards.
