Publisher Sodesco has revealed that the upcoming physical edition of Adam’s Venture: Origins for Nintendo Switch is just around the corner, with boxed copies set to hit stores on 25th September.
The game arrived digitally on the Switch eShop at the end of May, offering a "family-friendly adventure" said to be filled with puzzles and mysteries. We really weren't impressed with it when we played it for review - it's not often we feel the need to give a game a 2/10 - so we wouldn't exactly recommend buying a copy. Here's a taste of how much we enjoyed our time with it:
"Adam's Venture: Origins is among the worst games we've ever played and it doesn't even have the decency to be awful in an amusing way. There are so, so many great games you can buy for the same kind of price. Please buy them instead. Or just throw the money into a river and watch it disappear; even that experience would be more rewarding than playing this turgid mess of a video game. Technically, narratively and mechanically inept, Adam's Venture: Origins on Switch is disgraceful."
You can read our full review here.
Another problem is the price. The retail copy seems to be going for £34.99 - it's available to pre-order now from UK retailer Argos - which makes it even harder to recommend. Members of the Nintendo Life team have been known to buy some, shall we say, not brilliant games in the past to boost a physical collection, but that's when they're available for 50p.
Still, if our review of the game hasn't put you off and you really want a copy, make sure to keep an eye out for it appearing next month.

I will add it to my "never touch even with a barge pole" list on Amazon.
Wow... Strangely tempted, I think this article is an attempt at reverse psychology, and it's working.
Say what you want about the game, but that box art is very nice.
How can a game like this get a physical release? I thought they only got one if the game did well, and I’m pretty sure this crap didn’t.
So that silhouette is definitely a trace of Nathan Drake off the Uncharted 3 box art
I bought this game off of PSN a few years ago for $1.49. I don't feel overly ripped off for that. I think under $2 is about the value of the game. I do pity anyone that pays retail for a physical copy of it, though.
Well it couldn't get an Abysmal score so it walks off, when all said and done, with 20%.
This was £1.49 on Xbox the other week.... It's a terrible purchase at that price, let alone £34.99 🤣🤣
This article now makes me want to try it!
@Ogbert
Haha I think you are right!
@Apportal it's more of a what they want to release thing not how well.
Ahhh I remember that review. Probably my favourite one ever here 👍
I picked it up digitally for $1.50 on XBox One when it was on sale June 30th. It's a decent game but may have been too ambitious porting it to Switch. It's has the look and feel of an Uncharted game without any of the polish. It also focuses a lot more on puzzle elements instead of shooting. So again at $1.50 on Switch it's worth a look for those interested, but I can't easily recommend it for $35 or recommend anyone pick it up physically. But who knows maybe this will be that one game like Cooking Mama that gets a very limited run and becomes rare and valuable because of that.
What...Who would buy this? If you can't afford a 60 game, just get a used one, because nobody should spend a pretty penny on this garbage.
The shoveliest of shovelware. There are so many better games to publish physically, Soedesco. Shame on you.
"...but we wouldn't bother." Wow. Rough.
Anyway, I maintain that the "Origins" subtitle is the most offensive thing about this game.
@Ogbert Great catch. You can even still see the shape of the grip of the gun in his left hand.
I want to try Adams Venture Origins on PS4 if I can manage to buy it for £1.50 like others mentioned. For some reason I'm curious about the game and at least if I buy it cheap it won't matter.
I still remember that review...
And I still have nightmares ._.
I don't touch that game with a stick
Even bad games deserve a box.
@sanderev
Aye, to be buried in!
I would give a physical copy a 3/10 because it would be satisfying to throw it in a bin. Can't do that with digital.
Okay. This has been on my wishlist for a while since I LOVE terrible games. So, I am pretty tempted to purchase it so I can have it forever.
