@Not_Soos I would never categorize these games as 'Mature'. Sure, they have murders in them but more the type of Sunday Afternoon Murder Mystery style murders. They are all very lighthearted and have great humour.
@DockEllisD Well said sir @Yasume People just like to complain I think. After the recent Smash Bros. Direct all the comments were "Give us more games" but then Nintendo gives them not one but two Nindies showcases and that is not good enough.
Do Sony and Microsoft have similar presentations apart from E3? If they do, do they get this amount of negativity? If they don't, then people are moaning about a service the 'Competition' doesn't even provide. We should feel lucky we are getting this great showcase of upcoming games.
Agatha was a great little game if slightly on the creepy side. I also did not know that it was the second game in the series and the little girl that helped Agatha in her game was the star of this first game. Will be definitely getting this.
@Razer Ha ha I am glad you watched it and I hope you will enjoy the next one when they announce what is behind that blur as we both know that there will be one.
C'mon though, the general feeling I got from the Live Feed Comments were postive. You may not be interested in the game, but there are thousands that are and these are the people that the Direct is aimed at. It is not designed to bring more people into the game as the general public do not watch Nintendo Directs, they will have to win these people over will regular advertising on TV etc. That is much more of a challenge.
@Razer You are on a dedicated Nintendo site so the majority of people will like the products that they make so if you don't like these comments, don't read message boards on a Nintendo site.
I don't like everything Nintendo releases but I don't go on the message boards of the products I don't like to complain about them which is my main problem with people who complain MULTIPLE times. If you don't like something, post something to that effect and then leave. Why do people have to keep on posting, in detail, of how they hate this decision? Will their comment be read by the company the product is about? 99% chance it won't be.
"@Euler you got your Nintendo Switch for Smash but i sure as hell didn't. I know many that didn't as well."
As for the above comment, I hope you enjoy the Direct and will look forward to your comments after the show.
As for your Trump comment, if that bloated wind bag wasn't President (hate calling him that), he would be on Twitter complaining about there being another Smash Direct and if @Euler picked apart some of his comments, he would declare it fake news
@Euler Very nicely put and I agree with everything you typed. One thing I will add is that everyone who put a negative comment on here should be banned from watching it or at the very least should not make any comments on the Direct page as if I have to read any more comments about how they don't like Smash games or why we are getting another Direct about Smash they are all being reported ... for being annoying.
@Savino Thanks very much for checking. Slightly disappointed but not terribly surprised because, as you say, this is Nintendo and their wonderful yet baffling decisions.
@Abes3 Thanks for the great answer. I think I will get a set as I only own a crappy pair of wireless headphones currently that are not even Switch compatible and will one day get a PS4 when I get my Switch backlog down to an acceptable level (so maybe never)
@ktej75 You are correct, we shouldn't complain but unfortunately this is a message board and complaining is what happens. There are currently 820 games on the EU e-shop and this figure will be getting close to 1000 in the coming months. If people can't find even 25 games on there to tide them over until Nintendo announce a new game then there is something wrong. One first party game a month is a lot to ask for and if people expect that, then they will be disappointed.
@KingdomHeartsFan WiiU ... pfft ... my Virtual Boy has pride of place on my forehead. I now see the world in 2D and bright red due to my excessive use of the world's greatest console.
@roadrunner343 I was being slightly sarcastic about the review being 8/10 only because for some reason NintendoLife gets a lot of complaints for giving lots of games on Switch 9/10.
I do hope you were being sarcastic about F:NV and LoZ:MM being ports of F3 and LoZ:OoT? Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, DKC: Tropical Freeze are ports, those two are new games.
Would people rather have 12 just OK Nintendo games in a year or 4/5 amazing games? I think the worse thing Nintendo did was not their Direct this year but last years Direct where they said that they were working on Metroid 4. Expectations were so high for that game that when it did not show, people reacted. But even if they did show it, 'the internet' would find something else to complain about.
And for those people who say that there is nothing coming out between now and next year :-
StarLink Arena of Valor Mario Rabbids Donkey Kong DLC DragonBall Fighter Z Captain Toad Treasure Tracker (Yes, I know it is a Wii U port) Ninjala (2019) Fifa 19 Ark Survival Evolved Dark Souls SNK Heroines Wolfenstein 2 Paladins BlazBlue X Tag Battle Monster Hunter MegaMan 11 Mario Tennis Aces Xenoblade Chronicles DLC Fire Emblem Three Houses (2019) Octopath Traveler Daemon X Machina (2019) Overcooked 2 Super Mario PArty Pokemon Smash
And there will also be a few hundred indie games between now and next year. Surely there must be something for everyones tastes?
I always get a strong sense of deja vu after every E3. I seem to write something similar to this. I think next year I am stopping reading message boards as it is equally depressing and hilarious.
@Loonyhed There is no way Nintendo can win with these things. "I want some new games and more information on Smash" [Watch E3 2018] "That was too much Smash information and where is Metroid 4 and Animal Crossing" [They show M4 and a new game by Retro Studios] "I knew M4 would be rubbish if made by anyone other than Retro and their new IP does not live up to my high expectations. And where is Anim Xing?" [M4 is amazing, Retro game is amazing and they show off Anim Xing] "How long do we have to wait for a new Zelda game? Where is all the third party support? I never liked Anim Xing."
I don't think there is any one as critical about Nintendo as Nintendo investors and Nintendo fans. Every year at E3 time we get the same massive levels of speculation and then after the presentation, share prices goes down and the fans complain that [Insert Game Here] was not shown. It is the same EVERY year and never fails to bring a smile to my face.
I do like that they stick 'No Microtransactions' in the trailer. Since Fortnite is free, this game and Paladins should offer downloadable demos to help people make up their mind.
If by some miracle Rockstar brings any GTA game to Switch and they require a mandatory download, that would not bother me in the slightest. Yes, I would rather it not happen but if it means I have to miss out on a game I want to play, then that is not worth the trade off.
Any of the above would be a nice bonus but I want to be surprised with something totally unexpected. A new IP, an open world Kid Icarus game (in the style of Breath of the Wild), Wave Race X F-Zero, a Nintendo made Rabbids platform game ... maybe not.
Thanks to an awesome deal at Smyths Toys (spend £100 on Switch games, accessories or consoles and get £20 off) I have bought myself a Pro Controller and a copy of Doom so I will be testing both out along with Splatoon 2 for the Splatfest (Team Donatello / Donnie)
The art style is growing on me but from the sounds of it, the devs are putting their hearts into this game and they deserve their hard work to pay off. They have my money.
I would take a single download version of a game ported by the masters at M2 over a hastily put together compilation any day. I own a few compilations and you only ever end up playing around 50% of the games. Being able to choose your favourites is preferable to me anyway. The Saturn and Dreamcast news is the best news this weekend by far. Skies of Arcadia, NiGHTS, Panzer Dragoon, the Virtual games (although to have the arcade versions would be incredible), Crazy Taxi, Power Stone. There are so many good games to wish for.
@Jack_Goetz Exactly. I loved the first two games and it is looking like I will finally have to buy a PS4 to play no.3. I would rather get these on the same system so fingers crossed your save game can carry over. If 1&2 came out on Switch, when you finish them, it would be story over on that console.
@CaPPa Ahh right, so my original comment stands, I just needed to add Console Exclusive to PS4 ShenMue 3. So there is no point to anyone buying the XBO version of 1 & 2 as the story ends there and you would then have to buy a PS4 to continue the story. Ridiculous.
@Menchi187 Thanks for pointing that out, I had it in my head that it was. Although that now makes it more disappointing that it and the first two are not coming to Switch.
While ShenMue 1 & 2 not coming to Switch would be disappointing, it is not surprising since ShenMue 3 is PS4 exclusive it makes sense that you can play them and carry your save game from 2 over to 3. If you played them on Switch and you are told that Ryo's Switch journey end at game 2, it would be like playing on Dreamcast all over again.
All the best to Wil and hope he gets well soon. I still have every copy of Super Play stashed away (hoarder?) and his artwork was one of the reasons the magazine jumped off the display stands in the newsagents. If Nintendo ever made a comic book starring all their characters, Wil would be the perfect artist.
This was high on my list of upcoming games as the chance to play as RWBY characters is a dream come true but not heard about characters locked behind dlc. What characters do you have to buy?
@Jamotello Yeah, it did originally look like a beginner entry fighting game but the more trailers I see, the more mature content is being shown. I would be embarrassed to show this to my younger relatives.
To everyone who doesn't like this - it is not for you so stop whining about it. This is for kids and families in the majority. If this then leads kids into more traditional gaming, that is good for the industry as a whole.
Also, even if you don't like it, if you think that this won't make Nintendo a ton of money, then boy are you wrong.
@abe_hikura Couldn't agree more. This game may (will) never be considered for inclusion in the hierarchy of fighting games but if it gets more people interested in the genre, that can only be a good thing.
