Re: Editorial: After The Bold Brilliance Of Breath Of The Wild, Where Can Zelda Go Next?

Melkac

To be perfectly honest, I don't think the OoT formula is going to come back. I can see Nintendo deciding to bring back some elements of it for a BotW2, like permanent gadgets and traditional dungeons, but after BotW's outstanding reviews and sales compared to Skyward Sword's they would be foolish to go back to the classic formula.

2D Zeldas are never gonna die, though. And that's good.

@Dr_Corndog "Why should I watch them when I've played the game myself, twice?"
Because your judgement is clearly not very good? And you need someone to actually mention the issues of the game for you to notice them?
There's absolutely nothing wrong about agreeing with someone's opinion, you don't have to foolishly think "N-NO THE GAME ISN'T LINEAR BECAUSE I SAY SO! I PLAYED IT!!!"

@3792M Then just listen to any of these legitimate complaints:
-Again, terribly unbalanced.
-Tons of glitches and bugs (and don't say 'oh but they're not game breaking glitches!', some of them are, and even if they weren't that's not really an excuse).
-For a game that puts a focus on 'gotta catch em all!!', it doesn't even tell you what pokémon you've caught (aka the little ball next to a wild pokémon's name isn't in this game).
-For a game that puts a focus on 'gotta catch em all!!!', it sure is easy to fill a PC box. You also need to switch boxes manually, if you filled a box and you haven't switched it, say goodbye to that mewtwo you're trying to catch. The actual process of witching boxes is also very cumbersome.
-Lack of moves. Only fire, water, ice, electric, normal and psychic types have it good.
-You can only hold 20 items.
-Having to enter a bunch of menus just to make your pokemon use an HM.
-No way to delete HMs, no way to remember forgotten moves.
-Absolutely NO WAY to know what new moves do. You level up, you're trying to learn Growl, I wonder what it does? Oh, it only lowers the opponent's attack, thank god I deleted flamethrower for this...
-Also no way to know what TMs even do.
-Horrible battle sprites.

Anyone who thinks gen 1 is still good is absolutely blinded by nostalgia. They're very bad games.

Re: Nintendo Should Follow In Marvel's Footsteps And Produce Its Own Hollywood Movies, Say Producers

Melkac

@sillygostly You do know the new president already confirmed they're licensing their IPs for movies and anime, right? They already licensed them for the theme park.

Jesus, I hate this "ALL VIDEOGAMES MOVIES ARE BAAAD!" meme. They're not bad becase they're videogame movies, they're bad because they're BAD MOVIES. Bad directors, bad writers, bad actors, they're projects that weren't taken seriously.
If Nintendo doesn't want to be left behind they need to start working on their own films, otherwise someone's gonna start making good videogame movies, which is gonna start a chain reaction that leads to the production of a bunch of great videogame movies...and Nintendo will have nothing.

@Sanangelo89 Nintendo Cinematic Multiverse.
There.
Wow you people have like no vision.

Re: Missingno is Still in the Virtual Console Releases of Pokémon

"Everyone's favorite bird type"
...Wait a minute, this gives me an idea.
You're not allowed to upload the gen 1 pokémon to X/Y/ORAS according to the pokémon website, what if Missingno IS allowed on Pokémon bank, and become a full-fledged pokémon in Sun/Moon?
Wishful thinking I know, but it would be cool.

Re: Super Mario Bros. Z Creator Launches New Patreon Page After Nintendo Takedown

@Pikachupwnage "He also is unemployed so he tries to make money off someone elses IP?"
No. He quit his job to revive SMBZ, which is something people have been asking him to do FOR ALMOST A DECADE.
As you can imagine, this is a great undertaking.
I'm sure he'd love to do this for free but he doesn't live in the mushroom kingdom. A full time job wouldn't allow him to work properly on these, as SMBZ is an animated series that takes weeks of work to finish. A half-time job wouldn't give him enough money to survive...I think, half-time jobs don't even exist in my country so I dunno.

Hopefully you understand the situation a little better. Again, he isn't just some random guy that suddenly decided to profit off Nintendo characters, he quit working on the old version of the series less than a decade ago because it was too time consuming a project and decided to come back NOW because fans have been requesting him to do so for a long time, he isn't even working on the old series anymore, he decided to go back to square one and remake the old episodes with better animation and writing.

Re: Nintendo Continues to Consider the Prospects of the Movie Industry

Melkac

@crimsontadpoles "the story generally isn't that important in a Mario game, so could be difficult to get right in a film"
...just adapt an RPG

"live action wouldn't work for the Zelda world"
How so? I'd prefer if it were live action, it could be taken more seriously than a CGI movie.
Silly lighthearted properties like Mario, Kirby and...Earthbound would work on CGI, but not more serious ones like Fire Emblem, Zelda, F-Zero ("serious") or Metroid. They would have to shove a ton of stupid jokes and whatnot into trailers to attract children and their parents.
