@NEStalgia Yeah this. Saying it's become a AAA advertising venture is to ignore it's history.
I think it would be a shame to see E3 go. It provides a solid base for the Big 3 to try and outdo each other within a condensed 5 day timeframe or so. It also guarantees discussion. Who honestly doesn't get a kick out of watching the conferences then discussing/arguing with friends about "who won?". It would be disappointing to see it go.
I can't really comment on the scaling for a Nintendo product, but I make music as a side hussle and found a fairly prominent Soundcloud rapper that had sampled my songs (2 fairly big samples and 1 smaller hook) and put it on Spotify/Bandcamp, etc, garnering him income. When I contacted him, he essentially said "deal with it, I'm not taking it down". He wouldn't even credit me, when I offered amicable resolution. The hoops I had to jump through to get the tracks taken down/altered were insane. Eventually it was sorted after 2 months back and forth with Distrokid, Bandcamp and Soundcloud, and eventually the guys account was limited and he abandoned the project.
I'm not saying this is remotely comparable when it comes to the monetary effect, but this was over a guy making a few hundred pounds over something I made - I couldn't imagine this scenario scaled up.
Saying that, it's against the Nintendo ToS to alter the games, and selling said mods (it's literally behind a paywall right now) is not only a little problematic but also against the ToS.
Wouldn't a fairer debate be to convince a Sony fanboy to get a Switch? In my experience they're a different beast, my friend is a big PS fanboy and he might as well be speaking spanish when he talks about his PS stuff, the genres he likes are completely different to what I like. He mostly plays Among Us, modern FPS, Fifa, and narrative TPS games like Uncharted, etc. It's two very different audiences.
Got offered a PS5 yesterday, I'm not convinced about it though.
I reckon...120m lifetime. Wii fell off a cliff in it's 5th year.
Switch is only the second Nintendo console I've double dipped in, the OLED is phenomenal. Got a N3DS on launch. I guess it depends how well the revisions do as well.
@JustMonika Yeah it definitely feels like whatever mistake they made preserving FO3/NV and Oblivion they've rectified with Skyrim. It'll be on every console from now until the end of time!
@JustMonika I think the source code is lost or something, or so the rumour mill tells me. A port of the PC versions (with a bunch of bug fixes(def not gonna happen)) would be great though
@Meteoroid I ignored your point because you misconstrued my argument, which seems to be typical of all your interactions here. YOU mentioned Xenoblade 2 for some reason, I've not played it and can't comment on it. Grow up, kiddo.
@Meteoroid >You people What? Wind your neck in, kiddo. Monolith Soft have a team designated to help with asset creation and world design. Take a few minutes to compose yourself.
To me, Nintendo Direct has solved the problem. I know when I tune in to a Direct I'm getting "X minutes about upcoming Switch games". Each of the console manufacturers focusing on a presentation each that's focused on games for their console would be great. No point in me tuning in to Ubisoft or Bethesda as I don't use PlayStation or Xbox. I'd rather look at a PC stream or something.
@Tyranexx This, honestly. I've never understood the appeal of Twitter. It seems to want to distill every interaction between volatile humans to a very boiling core, the whole format is designed to ignore context and bring up contention. Remove Twitter and it's clones and the world improves monumentally, is my theory.
@Anguspuss Nah, Scotland. Not even sure what point I was trying to make lol. I guess that if people really wanted them, then scalpers wouldn't have the availability they do
@Anguspuss I've got 6 PS5s available within a 2 km radius of my house. They're readily available on the second hand market (and not much more that RRP)
I've watched a few gameplay sessions now and it seems like the only thing they've improved from the first game is the movement speed (which was less than a crawl in Hollow). Baffling design choices
The Sony and Microsoft segments of the market are very different - major retail games are discounted more often, especially as downloads on the PSN and Microsoft Xbox stores, and both platform holders continue to emphasize downloads through promotions and even digital-only versions of consoles. Then you consider services like Xbox Game Pass, and it's easy to see why PlayStation and Xbox have some smaller numbers buying physical copies of exclusive games.
I really want SMT IV and Apocalypse on the Switch. The assets are relatively high quality (except for the historic sprites, of course) and honestly having all my favourite Atlus games on Switch would be awesome. Atlus treated the 3DS like a port machine, in fact I think Atlus ports to the 3DS outnumber it's original games, so it would be nice to see a few games with updated graphics. It suits their historic strategies as well so it doesn't seem too out there.
@nessisonett Not really, the Halloween Hack didn't have much to do with Undertale besides the dev learning how to make games via it, and taking a music track or two from it
@Gamer_Zeus There would probably have to be a B-movie or epic aesthetic to get away with the themes. Mother goddamn 3 has a darker and more depressing story than the Last of Us, which is mad.
@WadeMcG If Sonic 06 released just a year later it would have released at a time when patching was more common, probably would have become an okay not great game 2bh. I don't think it's ever received a patch?
@kingbk Vice City is playing pretty okay just now. Replaying SA though and it went from one of my favourite games to much further down the list. Forgot exactly how frustrating the game is and how dire it gets after San Fiero

I've just one anecdote to tell.
Interesting premise, abysmal execution. Watch a playthrough if it's your cup of tea. Truly awful design and gameplay, and that's a shoot brother

Re: Video: We Have An EarthBound Conspiracy Theory
@tamantayoshi Devil's Third isn't really controversial though, it's got a B-movie camp under it all. Mother 3 is depressing in the areas it touches.
