Re: E3 2022 In Doubt As Journalist Claims Digital Event Is "Probably" Also Cancelled

@NEStalgia Yeah this. Saying it's become a AAA advertising venture is to ignore it's history.

I think it would be a shame to see E3 go. It provides a solid base for the Big 3 to try and outdo each other within a condensed 5 day timeframe or so. It also guarantees discussion. Who honestly doesn't get a kick out of watching the conferences then discussing/arguing with friends about "who won?". It would be disappointing to see it go.

Re: Zelda: Breath Of The Wild 'Second Wind' Mod Videos Targeted By Nintendo

Matty1988

I've just one anecdote to tell.

I can't really comment on the scaling for a Nintendo product, but I make music as a side hussle and found a fairly prominent Soundcloud rapper that had sampled my songs (2 fairly big samples and 1 smaller hook) and put it on Spotify/Bandcamp, etc, garnering him income. When I contacted him, he essentially said "deal with it, I'm not taking it down". He wouldn't even credit me, when I offered amicable resolution. The hoops I had to jump through to get the tracks taken down/altered were insane. Eventually it was sorted after 2 months back and forth with Distrokid, Bandcamp and Soundcloud, and eventually the guys account was limited and he abandoned the project.

I'm not saying this is remotely comparable when it comes to the monetary effect, but this was over a guy making a few hundred pounds over something I made - I couldn't imagine this scenario scaled up.

Saying that, it's against the Nintendo ToS to alter the games, and selling said mods (it's literally behind a paywall right now) is not only a little problematic but also against the ToS.

Re: Video: We Tried To Convince A PS5 Fanboy To Get The Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack

Matty1988

Wouldn't a fairer debate be to convince a Sony fanboy to get a Switch? In my experience they're a different beast, my friend is a big PS fanboy and he might as well be speaking spanish when he talks about his PS stuff, the genres he likes are completely different to what I like. He mostly plays Among Us, modern FPS, Fifa, and narrative TPS games like Uncharted, etc. It's two very different audiences.

Got offered a PS5 yesterday, I'm not convinced about it though.

Re: Poll: How Can Summer Game Fest And E3 2022 Improve On Previous Years?

Matty1988

To me, Nintendo Direct has solved the problem. I know when I tune in to a Direct I'm getting "X minutes about upcoming Switch games". Each of the console manufacturers focusing on a presentation each that's focused on games for their console would be great. No point in me tuning in to Ubisoft or Bethesda as I don't use PlayStation or Xbox. I'd rather look at a PC stream or something.

Re: Nintendo Dominates Amazon's Best Sellers Of 2021 Gaming List

Matty1988

The Sony and Microsoft segments of the market are very different - major retail games are discounted more often, especially as downloads on the PSN and Microsoft Xbox stores, and both platform holders continue to emphasize downloads through promotions and even digital-only versions of consoles. Then you consider services like Xbox Game Pass, and it's easy to see why PlayStation and Xbox have some smaller numbers buying physical copies of exclusive games.

It's like I'm on PushSquare lol

Re: Feature: Nintendo Switch Ports We'd Love To See In 2022

Matty1988

I really want SMT IV and Apocalypse on the Switch. The assets are relatively high quality (except for the historic sprites, of course) and honestly having all my favourite Atlus games on Switch would be awesome. Atlus treated the 3DS like a port machine, in fact I think Atlus ports to the 3DS outnumber it's original games, so it would be nice to see a few games with updated graphics. It suits their historic strategies as well so it doesn't seem too out there.
